Most likely a pipe dream but this would be pretty nice if Bioware ever decided to do this. My main gripe with Origins is the lack of any real time combat. A next gen remake with DAI's real time combat would be sick. Maybe update the graphics if possible like TLOU remastered edition for PS4, keep the tactical camera and everything else the same for the fans and for the love of God, leave all exploits intact. I would definitely purchase this. Not for $60 though since it would be a remake. Maybe for $40.
How about an Origins remake with DAI's real time combat included?

Good idea because it'd get a lot of people back into origins (or into it for the fist time) BUT only if they keep the regular combat tactical cam and overhead view available as an option. Tactics, attribute points, nothing removed. A choice as to style.
More is always fine, new players is fine, but I wouldn't be interested unless I had access to proper tactical combat. Simply replacing DAO combat with dai would just suck.
The original has to be preserved.

I don't know what are you talking about, DAO have much more "real time combat" due to tactical options than DAI

I'd settle with just being able to actually RUN in Origins. The slow ass trotting along when weapons are drawn got old fast. I always loved how Hawke was able to go full speed at an enemy with her daggers out.

I would buy that. Inquisition's combat system in general is vastly superior to origins'.

Why would you want to saddle Origins with DAI's horrible combat?

Please no.. I personally never played Origins tactically, I don't like controlling companions -I'm not them. But the only things better about the DA2 & DA:I combat was it's speed & reactivity. At least in Origin's combat you didn't have to painstakingly chave away at the health with your impactless attacks.

It wasn't like that in DA2 either. I admit, while it made battles ridiculously brief, there was something about wiping out an entire bar of health in a single hit with my rogue's Assassinate or Vendetta talent that I found pretty satisfying.

I agree with you, DA2 had many issues but combat was not one of them. Personally I used a beserker/reaver build, my attack speed with a two handed weapon was insane and even though some battles were a breeze it was always satisfying. It wasn't like that in DA2 either. I admit, while it made battles ridiculously brief, there was something about wiping out an entire bar of health in a single hit with my rogue's Assassinate or Vendetta talent that I found pretty satisfying.
Whereas da:I has sacrificed some of the impact with the new engine, there is a distinct lack of weight behind attacks, I think a lot of it lies in the sound effects losing that 'meaty' feel when blade hits Templar or shield slams heavily into a Mage, the new bash almost has a popping sound when it should be a thud.

Although I like the dark vibe and intricate story, I was never a fan of Origin's gameplay and combat mechanics. Mainly because of how slow paced character movement is, clicking on a character, watching them swing a weapon only to miss, and miss again after every few attacks. Playing as a mage seemed to be the most fun and quickest way to move the story along.
It's funny though because I remember reading complaints about Origins combat being a dumbed down version of Baulder's Gate / Planescape, with MMO elements thrown in when it first launched. This JRPG, MMO or whatever you want to call it, style of combat works for a slow paced story like FF7, but Origins story feels like the slow paced, micro management combat actually works against the pacing of the story imo.
If an Origins remake were to become a reality, other tweaks like enemy variety, better AI would be expected. I remember enemies running straight past my armored tanks to attack light armored party members like an OLB or Defensive End going for the quarterback sack.
I realize being able to manually control physical movement would mean a whole rebalacing of the stat reliant system and character attribute development, hence this whole idea being a pipe dream, but if Bioware could somehow balance the tactical / action combat, I'd bite.
Bioware attempted this balancing act with DAI, but it felt more like Bioware feeling pressured to reinvent the wheel instead combing strengths of Origins and DA 2. DA 2's combat mixed with an Origins type of story minus the silent protagonist, while Skyrim remains Skyrim.

No. DAO should remain untouched.
I'm also one of those that don't want a remake of Final Fantasy VII

Well, if they'd include all DLC in the main game (and added new DLC later on) and kept everything like it was (including the ability to mod the game...), yeah, sure I would get that game ![]()

No thank you!
I still enjoy playing Origins for what it is, and prefer the ACTUAL tactics and even the potion crafting and ability to not have a limited amount of potions that my companions guzzle like fizzy pop!
Also - you just KNOW that if a remake was done, they'd be tempted to add bits or change bits, and mostly likely completely ruin the game.

DA:O is perfect.
People calling DAO perfect have markedly increased in number since the release of DA2 and DAI - back in the day about as many complaints were directed at that game as against DAI today. The way I see it these people mostly suffer from rose-coloured glasses syndrome. DAO was and is a great game, but certainly not to a degree that can't be improved upon. The world areas in particular seem incredibly small and hedged-in compared to DAI.

DA2 is the one that needs a remake it never got the time it deserved and DAI's combat is the last place they should be looking for inspiration.
