Just like there is a team vampire and a team werewolf, there has long been a team Dragon Age and a team Witcher. I've always been very much a part of team Dragon Age. There is a lot to enjoy in the first two Witcher games, but they also have a series of really annoying flaws - namely the annoying combat systems and the "autistic" sense of humour.

Having found DAI to be rather underwhelming, I'm starting to get a little worried. The Witcher 3 looks like it could possibly be the best in the series.

Are anyone else worried that their loyalties may shift? I've felt very comfertable in the Dragon Age camp. I don't wanna be a Witcher fan.

I never even played the first two.. but maybe I'll give it a shot. There just aren't enough AAA RPGs around anymore.. that's reason enough.

It's possible to be a fan of both, you know.

Why are you talking about it in the section for DAI?

So wait, you're worried a game might be good and that you'd enjoy it? Holy ****. I have seen some first world non-problems in my day, but you literally floored me with this one.

I'm interested in Wild Hunt myself, but I'm not fond of skipping forward in a franchise, but find it difficult to bring myself to buy the other two games.

I don't see much point in having to pick a side. It's all going to be crammed into the same system anyway.

I love them both.

Not sure why I'd have 'loyalties.'

Brand loyalty is a cancer. It's nothing but a ploy created by companies to get consumers to blindly support/purchase their products. You're only playing into their hand. Purchase a game if it's good, simple as that. I personally did not enjoy the previous Witcher games, but it's not going to stop me from hoping that The Witcher 3 would be more to my liking. The wider the selection of good games, the more for me to play.

I don't believe people would really refrain from playing another game just because of "loyalties".

What are you talking about, it's absolutely impossible. Everyone knows that you can only like a singular game franchise (at very worst you can like two, as long as they're made by the same company), or you're not a true fan.

Apart from that, the campetition between the two is mostly imaginary and created only by fanatics on both sides.

And what the hell is an "autistic sense of humor"?!

You'd be surprised. And it's not just about not playing another game, but the need to put the competition down because of arbitrary reasons. This doesn't just happen in gaming, in happens everywhere. Apple phones vs Android phones. Toyota vs Ford. It's everywhere.

They don't know what they're missing out on. It'd be like eating the same dish every day.

As has been pointed out, enjoying a game series or having a high opinion of a developer isn't like supporting a sports team. If Witcher 3 turns out to be a good game, then it's a good game. The vampire-werewolf analogy should tell you something about the maturity level of people who stick with that kind of loyalty rather than just going with what they like.

You'd be surprised by how much "loyalties" can blind people to the vitriol and hatred they release in "honor" to that "loyalty".

Does it matter? You like things you like and if I must be honest the whole DA and Witcher camps idea seems silly to me. Why do we have to have groups against each other because they prefer x or y thing?

Plus, the whole "I've played the Witcher games and like them. I'm going to buy the next one but I don't wanna be a Witcher fan." seems a bit contradictory to me. I know what you mean, since you've explained the camps idea, but still.

It´s different for games thought, because the majority of people only ever need one car or one phone, so picking between 2 or 3 major brands is an issue - it makes sense to favor one brand over the rest when renewing your obsolete piece. With games you just want to try different things, and you aren´t ever limited to having a single game at a time, so most gamers do try games from many companies just by the nature of how entertainment works.

I was fan of DA, but because of "Open world" DA:I story suffered to much. it was boring, and combat made it even worse and I am sure I will not buy DLC. Probably not even DA4.

I see no point in "camps" I buy both DA and Witcher and liked both. But I really worried Witcher 3 will have open world, I hope it will not be as bad as DA:I

They are not going to lock down your account, have Origin delete all of your games and issue a warning to all stores to not sell you their game if you decide you like to buy games from the Witcher series. Even the developers have pointed out that it is possible to like both series and that there is nothing wrong with doing so. People who say otherwise are objectively wrong because there is a slew of people who can prove it is entirely possible to like both game series.

If you don't want to be a Witcher fan then just don't buy the games and for the love of all that is remove that dang "autistic sense of humor" line or replace it with whatever you mean by it!

hmm... i guess we'll see if CDPR is going to join the 'feed fans misleading information to induce a hype and have a best launch in history' camp or not.

Same here. I play whatever I want and I'm not loyal to anyone.
