hmm... i guess we'll see if CDPR is going to join the 'feed fans misleading information to induce a hype and have a best launch in history' camp or not.

CDPR practically give no information at all just few trailer and game play. But we still have 2 months everything can happen. And if I heard correctly CDPR hired something for marketing, because they simply don't know how and/or don't have time. So I wouldn't be surprised, for lie. If company like Bioware in marketing lie repeatedly <_< .

The only games where I don't care about not being a girl are usually Japanese RPGs and those are heavily focussed on the story that I don't care. I don't play the Witcher because you are suppose to be the main character, I cannot play that game because I am not a man and I cannot get into that character.

I will play FFType-0 and FFXV instead of the Witcher 3 ^^.

Are anyone else worried that their loyalties may shift? I've felt very comfertable in the Dragon Age camp. I don't wanna be a Witcher fan.

*Looks at his accumulated time in steam for Witcher 1 and 2 combined (0 hours)*

Hmm... nope, not too concerned :)

What else are they supposed to show exactly? They've shown gameplay, the inventory screen, different areas in the game, bits of monster hunting side quests and a glimpse of the main quest to avoid spoilers. There's a lot of information in interviews and such as well. I'm really curious what else you feel they should share before the game is out.

I really don't understand how someone can be enough of a fan of DA to be posting on this forum, but never have even tried the Witcher games.

Before the release of DA:I, if I had been forced to pick one franchise, DA or The Witcher, I would have chosen DA. But to be honest, after the disappointment of DA:I, I would now chose The Witcher. So I fall into the OP's category of worry.

Fortunately thought I don't have to pick one, so i will continue to (potentially) play both! I have the Witcher 3 on preorder and I hope it doesn't disappoint like DA:I did. Even if the Witcher 3 is amazing, I will still probably play future DA games, though I might be waiting for them to go on sale before buying. (I was going to say I would wait for the reviews, but realised as I was typing that the DA:I reviews tell me that I can't trust reviews of Bioware games.)

@9TailsFox

actually they did. google E3(or something) panels on quest branching and decisions affecting communities thingy. welp, i'm hyped. i couldn't care less about visuals. Ciri, Yennefer and all that, if you care about writing/chars/story.

oh, there it is:

Yeah, I don't understand the whole ... "Team whatever thing".    That's like saying you only watch Lord of the Ring movies and all other movies are junk.    Games aren't really in competition with each other.    I buy every game that appeals to me.    DA:O is the best game I have ever played by far.   I also LOVE the Witcher series for its gritty dark atmosphere and actual attempt at branching storylines.    The actual ability to play as a female protagonist (at least in part of it) is very exciting as well.

I judge games based upon what their OWN developers are doing with the franchise.   As long as they keep them fun, playable, and at least somewhat consistent with its predecessor titles, I usually will continue to enjoy them all.

Are you talking about gameplay where you have to pick between 3 "sexy" witch and demon tree? Always trust demon tree  I don't think I saw E3 stuff.

Not that I have anything against dragon age, but my gut tells me that The Witcher 3 will probably beat DAI.... Why ? I think we all know the reasons. As for the Witcher in general, I didn't quite like the first game or the series. I simply don't like that Geralt guy and I don't want to play as him.

iirc, there was no gameplay shown in this panel, some dude just explained how Geralt's decisions can affect the world - a quest branching trees, ...stuff. i'll add a link later (when/if i find it)

Just because some of the fans are at each others' throats doesn't mean you have to take sides. I really liked DAI except for a few issues but I still fully intend on buying Witcher 3. My only concern is missing out on some things because I've never played the previous two. I may pick up Witcher 2 but I don't really have any desire to play the first Witcher game.

It seems pretty silly to not try a game because of a sense of loyalty to something that serves as a form of entertainment. It's like refusing to watch Law & Order because you're "loyal" to CSI.

It's possible to be a fan of both, you know.

Yep, I'm firmly entrenched in team Games.

If I only had enough money to get Batman Arkam Warlord, buy Dragon Age Paradise Lost , or by Witcher 4 the Dracolist? Lets face it I would still buy the Bioware game and get the others cheaper six months later. But I would eventually get them that's what counts right?

Just like there is a team vampire and a team werewolf, there has long been a team Dragon Age and a team Witcher. I've always been very much a part of team Dragon Age. There is a lot to enjoy in the first two Witcher games, but they also have a series of really annoying flaws - namely the annoying combat systems and the "autistic" sense of humour.

Having found DAI to be rather underwhelming, I'm starting to get a little worried. The Witcher 3 looks like it could possibly be the best in the series.

No character creation? No worry.
Also Witcher is sexist standard macho wizard dude.
But my loyalty shifted to Pillars of Eternity and Sword Coast Legends

So the OP wasn't impressed by DA:I, which is fine, but is now worried that the Witcher 3 will steal their heart away....and this was worthy, in their mind, of creating a topic to discus this issue? This is not a Teen romance, Bioware is not going to fly into a jealous rage if you find yourself enjoying other RPGs. I mean Ion Storm never came after me for daring to enjoy the Mass Effect series....and I'm pretty damn sure that Neither Bioware or CDPR will be offended by my likely future enjoyment of "Torment: Tides of Numenera"

To borrow a line from a Drill Sgt on the series Boot Camp: "Save the drama, for your mama"...and just enjoy the game.

Didn't know about sword coast legends and it sound/look interesting so thank you Lilithor.

As for the Op - I find 'the witcher' and 'dragon age' series pretty different from each other so what's the harm in liking both?

Personally I would give the witcher a pass until I can get it at discount (probably big one) as I don't like the chosen and set protogonist, but that's just me. Nothing wrong with you liking the game.

...I am just hoping that Pillars of Eternity will be more of baldur's gate 2 than icewind dale:)

It will.
And Sword Coast single player campaign is made by the dude that made DAO great and left because you know DA2 would suck, so I guess it can't go wrong, and at least for me... DnD *o*

It's funny cause the DA devs play witcher games and witcher devs play DA games. And you dont see them bashing each other to see who's the best...

Why can't the fanbase do the same, and enjoy both games? Yes they are both fantasy rpgs, but they are so different from each other i dont understand why people always feel the need to love one and hate the other... This Love/Hatred is all fanbase stuff, the developers of the games do not incite this in any way, in fact they admit they play the other game and enjoy it... Can we do the same? :)

yeah... 2015 is a good year for indie gamers. sort of christmas all the time with delicious treats distributed evenly across all those 12 months /glee

is it march 26th yet?

anyway. i don't see people here bashing each other over which game is better, so... where is all that hippie love coming from?

We called it before DA:I that Witcher 3 would probably blow it out of the water and we'll see. May 19th can't come soon enough, but I'd go out on a limb and say it probably will end up being more praised and perhaps get some GOTY's now that Uncharted 4 is out of the picture (because that universal Naughty Dog bias, yo!)

I think between it and Batman there's gonna be polarization though, but if DA:I came out the same year I think it would've been overlooked.

Now let's wait and see and perhaps the end result will make my predictions look really dumb.

...but the last thing I want is for BIoware to become clueless and just rip off the Witcher with their Dragon Age games. They already took the idea of radial scanning to find loot straight outta the Witcher 2... I prematurely accused them on Twitter for also copying the potion system but like I said, that was premature and turned out to be wrong.

They need to keep the focus on party-based combat and how they can expand that and personally I think DA:I is a good foundation... but honestly I miss healers and I miss the brutal difficulty of DA:O on Normal making me forced to use Pause Tactics and seriously, only 8 slots for abilities is ****** lame as is the lack of tactical settings and lack of fully customizable attributes.

Get back in the game Bioware... in your own Bioware way please!

I've never had any interest in the Witcher series. From what I've seen from the Witcher 3, I have no interest in that game either.

I wonder what the OP will do if s/he ends up not liking Witcher 3 as well. Will s/he commit suicide?
