We called it before DA:I that Witcher 3 would probably blow it out of the water and we'll see. May 19th can't come soon enough, but I'd go out on a limb and say it probably will end up being more praised and perhaps get some GOTY's now that Uncharted 4 is out of the picture (because that universal Naughty Dog bias, yo!)

I think between it and Batman there's gonna be polarization though, but if DA:I came out the same year I think it would've been overlooked.

Now let's wait and see and perhaps the end result will make my predictions look really dumb.

I don't think TW3 will get as many GOTY nods as DA:I (even if it ends up being better) simply because 2015 is such a strong year for games. Besides TW3, there's Arkham Knight, Uncharted 4, No Man's Sky, Persona 5, Halo 5, Bloodborne, Final Fantasy XV, Star Wars: Battlefront, Pillars of Eternity, The Division, The Legend of Zelda, MGS V and countless others I can't even be bothered to mention.

In comparison, 2014 was a poor year. Inquisition's main rival was Shadow of Mordor.

Snake, Uncharted 4 was just delayed to 2016 yesterday FYI.

Out of those I don't expect anything but Zelda and MGSV and those I mentioned myself to be GOTY. W3 is widely recognized as one of the most hyped games since next gen began... seriously, it has already caught onto the mainstream rather than just the RPG fans or the Witcher 2 fans. It has that Skyrim appeal which it is obviously marketed for and is made out to be such a big thing, I wouldn't be surprised if it sells like hotcakes and becomes one of the highest user-rated games of this year which will probably influence the official GOTY voters more bending towards that as well.

/PREDICTIONS!

The only games where I don't care about not being a girl are usually Japanese RPGs and those are heavily focussed on the story that I don't care. I don't play the Witcher because you are suppose to be the main character, I cannot play that game because I am not a man and I cannot get into that character.

I will play FFType-0 and FFXV instead of the Witcher 3 ^^.

I might be wrong but I think I've read Witcher 3 introduces the possibility of playing a female character instead of Geraldt.

Edit : yep it does : http://www.gamespot....e/1100-6424226/

Stop being a child and enjoy both on their own merits.

@LeeT:

unfortunately... not really, female char is playable for short periods of time (i'd imagine a quest or two), narrative reasons or something. you cannot chose to RP Ciri instead of annoying Geralt.

yup, i was a sad panda when i learned this

I am extremely worried about the Witcher 3.  I am afraid it may not have a character creator.

You wrong. You play only as Geral. We may get to control other charters for short time or few missions. Like in Witcher 2 Dandelion for small part of mission or Stennis. This best example of media blowing something out of proportion. Like DA:I have 40 endings.

Geralt is main character.

And what the hell is an "autistic sense of humor"?!

Has this question been answered yet because I too have no idea what is meant by it?

Sarcasm, I guess.

Anyway, when I read this: "the autistic sense of humor", I understood that there can be no cure for ignorance.

For ****'s sake, just play both games and enjoy whatever you want. No matter how much I will love TW3 (I'm sure of that, since I played the previous two games and I read every novel of the saga), this won't stop me from loving DA.

I've played both series and enjoy both.  Oddly the Witcher is the only game series I will have played on three different platforms when it comes out (PC for the first one, Xbox 360 for the second one and PS4 for the 3rd one).  I also won't go into it with expectations that it has to be better than DA - or that it is going to be worse.  It will be what it is (that's very zen of me), and I'll either enjoy it or I won't.

You'd be surprised. And it's not just about not playing another game, but the need to put the competition down because of arbitrary reasons. This doesn't just happen in gaming, in happens everywhere. Apple phones vs Android phones. Toyota vs Ford. It's everywhere.

I brought this up the other day in the Ori and The Blind Forest thread. We need gamers to be united, not divided;the only competitions should be between developers, between publishers, between retailers, etc etc the side of the creator and provider. As consumers, we'd be SO much better off if we killed this stupid hive mind mentality of platform wars, insulting others for having different tastes, chokehold loyalty to one company/promotion over another, etc etc.

Gamers need to be better than that if gaming is going to get better than that.

Particularly on the loyalty front, thats crazy. I don't think its irrational to like the products of a particular developer or publisher, but if you fancy their products so much you might not want to be a fan of something else, thats being a little too dedicated. You miss out on good games that way.

Its absolutely possible to be a fan or not a fan of multiple games by different developers at a time.

As for The Witcher and Dragon Age, I am a fan of both. Didn't get to play the first Witcher but I heavily enjoyed the second, so much that I am absolutely going to purchase the third. As for Dragon Age the first blew me away, the second was a bust for me, but the third improved in enough ways that I can hold on to that franchise instead of giving it up for another. DA2 being not to my fancy is what led me to purchase my first Elder Scrolls game, and Skyrim blew me away, ensuring I'd give the next Elder Scrolls my full priority.

Open minds and more opportunities are ready and willing.

It's possible to be a fan of both, you know.

Now you're just beign silly.

In all seriousnes though, considering the fact that the OP hasn't responded ever since the topic got created, I'm pretty sure they are just trolling.

So wait, you're worried a game might be good and that you'd enjoy it? Holy ****. I have seen some first world non-problems in my day, but you literally floored me with this one.

I love them both.

Not sure why I'd have 'loyalties.'

You know, it is entirely possible to like and enjoy both franchises.

Can't enjoy both?

I think dragon age fans should be worried if witcher 3 delivers. If it delivers you move into second place and probably front shelf status in places like walmart. You probably lose all but your hard core fans. Game price drops to 35 or less.
Pressure is in to blow us away with dlc.

Prepare yourselves for DA:I 2!

At the end, all you've done is picking flowers, running, hunting bears and slaying the traitors.

Aye, but it can work like that. Nothing changes if we sit around, throw our hands in the air and go, "Welp, nothing's gonna change"

Gotta work for that betterment for it to happen.

I'm confused your worried about liking the Witcher 3 more then Dragon Age. You can like both games. It's not as if Bioware is going to invoke some sort of demon against you or you committed treason. The Witcher game is looking pretty interesting.

If it happens great but that is going to be one hell of a hill to climb considering how The Internet and its trolls thrive on negativity and hate.

Its the loyalty problem I mentioned earlier. Some people are so threatened by another product being good that they don't want to like it;they'd rather it be subpar so they can run it over.

Its a form of fanboyism.

Thats why we have to make the effort to climb it instead of staring up at the top and going, "Nah, too high."

For example, if someone can be convinced to open their minds to multiple games instead of being so enraptured with only one, thats progress right there.
