A while back I started tracking Gold amounts per difficulty. I now have a somewhat decent sample size, but I could always use more data. If you want to contribute (or just eye the raw data), see here --> https://docs.google....dit?usp=sharing

Questions? Complaints about my sloppy math? Go nuts.

Remember, the data are available, and I could always use more.

Do you consider it an error that threatening complete doesn't pay out extra compared to normal events? Or would it disrupt the model of 1.5x you seem to suggest?

*EDIT* Do you have any data that gives the average gold gathered if all events and pots are gotten across the various difficulties?

Pots are the best key index if you're looking for the scale difference. Chests are 50/50 (gold or treasure), but the payout should be known (as you've shown). I'd say tracking the gold by map would be a better system because of the varying amount of pots available, treasure rooms and events occurring.

For example:
Orleasian Chateau, Difficulty: Routine

Number of pots: 20

Low/High/Average gold from pots: 12/17/15

Number of treasure rooms: 5

Low/High/Average gold from TRs: 22/35/30

Events: <Event types>

Low/High/Average payout: 50

This suggestion is based solely on if you're doing full out looting. Good luck with your testing.

I can't say what is an error versus intended design. I can only report the numbers. That said, it is pretty odd that Threatening Zone 5 doesn't give out any more Gold than a regular Threatening Event. (And yes I was very, very careful to track them separately once I started to notice this.)

No I do not.

Generally I consider about 800 G on Threatening and 1,000 G on Perilous to be 'normal' for a run in which I hit most of the treasure rooms and complete most of the events, but that's just based on memory and anecdote.

Pots are the best key index if you're looking for the scale difference.

Err... yes. Which is why I used them as the baseline. :)

I'd say tracking the gold by map would be a better system because of the varying amount of pots available, treasure rooms and events occurring.

Ugh! My OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) may be bad, but it has limits, and that exceeds them.

*Boogz* LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

I've already put the thought in your head. You'll resist at first, but you'll eventually succumb to your own perfectionism. I've just come to accept it. So will you. :P

Hey everyone, I just wanted to see if I can provide a bit of hard data regarding this. I can't confirm the gold amount per reward type or difficulty (I didn't balance the numbers), but I can confirm all the situations that rewards are given (since I implemented the scripting of when they are awarded). But first, some clarification:

  • "Cursed Chests" provide the same loot award (per difficulty) that non cursed ones do
  • Every level has the exact same number of loot awards (pots, chests, events, and completion)
  • Each of the random events provide the same loot award (per difficulty)

 Now to the details:

Pots - Each of the first 4 zones contain 4 pots in random locations. Each of these zones also contain access to a treasure room (the ones that have a chance to have guardians), these rooms contain 2 additional pots. This provides a grand total of 24 loot pots per level.

Chests - Each of the first 4 zones contains a treasure room with a chest (the ones that have a chance to have guardians). In addition to this 2 of those zones will contain an additional shortcut or treasure closet containing a chest (no guardians, you're welcome). This provides a grand total of 6 chests per level.

Golden Nug - Either zone 1 or zone 3 will contain a golden nug, 1 per level.

Events - Zones 2 & 4 contain a random event (escort, recovery, assassinate), completing the event grants the award. This provides a total of 2 event rewards per level.

Completion - Completing the battle in zone 5 grants the final award, 1 per level.

Hope this helps to answer a few questions.
