Did Ubisoft make the right choice to continue the AC's saga with another Assassin?

When Rogue was released, I was very happy: finally, I could play on the other side. Finally, I could understand the point of view, the motivations of Templars and Abstergo.

And then, was Unity time...

So, here's the situation: except for only one episode, we have to play as an Assassin. Every damned time! Why in the Hell didn't Ubisoft start an AC new serie with Rogue?!

I know, I know... "ASSASSIN'S Creed". But, think about it: in the first chapter Al Mualim was the Mentor and the true Grand Master of Templar Order. How ironic, the Code was written by a Templar.

So... What do you think about it?

I want more templars like AC rogue and unrelated parties like black flag. It's quite nice getting another perspective on the whole business.

Exactly! That's the point! History (even a rewritten History, like this) has a large plurality of POV: playing as an Assassin ever and ever... I think it's so unfair (as well as boring).

I'm more curious as to why they've only used a female protagonist once. It seems to me that the series could explore considerably more new territory by stepping outside of the fairly rigid formula the seem to have set for themselves.

Granted, Black Flag actually did step outside the formula somewhat, so that was pretty cool, and I am enjoying that one (it's the one I'm currently playing.) I have a code for Unity, but I don't know if I'll ever bother using it, since I have largely become quite bored with the formula.

Agree with this! Women are more dangerous than men!

And this remind to me Lucy: an Assassin become Templar. There must be others, c'mon!

I want more characters like Edward. Who just don't care about the stupid Assassin/Templar thing.

But I guess that's what Watch_Dogs is for.

Don't worry about it. The game isn't that good compared to the ones that followed. You might as well call the first game a demo/beta for Assassin's Creed 2 which is a far better experience.

i know. i started with ACB, followed by AC2. then i took a look in AC1, and got bored really soon. i played it for maybe 2 hours, and then continued playing the following parts^^
btw AC3 was terrible imo.

I don't think AC3 is terrible, it just didn't live up to Ezio's trilogy.

I find it kinda funny, that in AC3 the point I got was that both the templars and assassins were bad, and that neither of them were truly correct.

Yet in Black Flag, and AC Unity, we completely ignore that in favor of sticking to the Assassin's = Good/ Templars = Bad motif, despite even seeing with our own eyes how not all the templars are bad if not even borderline saintly altruistic, and not all the assassins are good or even close to fighting for the greater good of freedom, just selfish.

And you played all AC games? Seriously?

Well not all of them. :P If it came out on a handheld platform, I didn't play it.

I don't think AC3 is terrible, it just didn't live up to Ezio's trilogy.

Connor received the same treatment that Merril received in DA2 from the players.

They didn't understand the culture shock both characters were going through, but it was poorly presented in both cases.

These Assassin's Creed games come out so fast.

I'm like "Black Flag was cool" and there's like four more f-cking games.

I was fine with the culture shock. It was that Connor was surprisingly dull after the very charismatic and charming Ezio.

Even Arno didn't come close to Ezio in that regard. Edward was great tho.

I liked Rogue. Though fighting other assassins was more annoying than fun. Still, had a lot of fun through that one. Thought the switch from Assassin to Templar was kind of weird. I feel bad for the main character...

Rogue was a nice change from playing Assassins all the time and Shay was much more fun than playing Connor.

I've heard good things about this game. Is it worth the purchase?

I don't think I will be getting another Assassin's Creed game for a while so they can do whatever they like, I have not played Rogue so I don't know if things have changed and Templars have been portrayed in a more sympathetic light but the depiction of the whole Assassin vs Templar war in the previous games kind of remind me of those Mac vs PC ads where the Assassins are the young cool hipsters who embody everything noble about humanity and fight for freedom while the Templars are all mean spirited, dim-witted and cowardly old men with hemorrhoids and a penchant for incest.

The last AC game worthy to get is Black Flag, because it is different. Dat sailing and piracy!
