I msg'd the dragon age Fb and they directed me to these forums. The question is as follows:

'So I have lore question related to dragon age inquisition. In the dialogue options when u first meet bull, he mentions the reason the Ben hassarath is interested in investigating the rifts is because they need to know if they need to launch a full scale invasion on thedas to rectify the issues it's causing. That got me thinking. Did rift tears only open in thedas? If so why would they? Or did they open across the entirety of the whole world including par vollen? Are their any continents aside from par vollen and thedas?"

The only responses I've gotten on other forums regarding this is that the quanari continent homeland meca is called Secheron. And that the rifts only appeared in thedas being localized specifically from haven.

The latter doesn't make sense to me since, aside from the rift at haven the rifts all seem to be random. I guess the farther away you get from haven there could be less and less rifts, that would be fine. But it also doesn't make sense because there were rifts spread throughout thedas in pretty much even numbers per square miles. Why would damaging the veil between the material world and the fade, a veil which I assume permeates through the entirity of the world; Be localized in one area.

The quanari seems like given time they would probably develop a means to close rifts on their own, and kill and demons that leak out. But if there are rifts everywhere there are people what of the other lands/countries/nations? I'll be the first to admit that I may simple want this due to it being dripping with storytelling potential.

Is there anything in the game that challenges this idea? Or supports it?

The rift tear doesn't move. It stays above Haven and affects Orlais and Fereldan because they are effectively beneath it. The fade tears, as far as we know, have not affected any other place in Thedas or the rest of the world.

I thought there was a war table discussion between Leliana and Cullen about fade rifts outside the influence of the Inquisition and Leliana replied that it wasn't pretty. So my best guess that there are fade rifts in other countries, which would make the Inquisitor a very popular person if the rifts persist outside the breach being closed.

Didn't know that.

Yes there is that War Table conversasion that indicated rifts are in other places besides Southern Thedas but, since the Breech was in the mountains above Haven, the Qunari Know it all began there.

It makes sense that they would want to investigate as close to the source as possible. Iron Bull was actually ordered to join the Inquisition so, that's about as close as they can get to the source of the rifts. It's the Qunari way, if it's a threat, and the non Qunari (Bas) are not doing anything to end it, then Qunari need to invade and take over to fix it before it becomes a serious threat to Qunandar.

The Breach doesn't move. It gets bigger, as witnessed during In Hushed Whispers.

Also, as IT spreads, the influence on the Veil spreads. Potentially much, much faster than the actual Breach.

All the Rifts are caused by the Breach, yet they're spotted as far as the Western Approach in the game alone.

To compare, Haven is Fereldan territory, yet the Western Approach, and the Abyssal Rift are on the western (the further out!) edge of Orlais.

Remember, they are still rather... commonly encountered every few minutes in both the Western Approach area of the game, and the Hissing Wastes (though both are technically located within the geological area of the Western Approach, and you can see the Abyssal Rift in both the Western Approach area, and Adamant Fortress, and the only reason it's absent from the Hissing Wastes is the fact the Wastes are located to the north of it)

Presumably, the Rifts are also relatively common in other nations, Par Vollen and Seheron not excluded. This also triggers the Qunari reaction, as their sovereign territory is threatened.
