I'm glad someone is compiling a list because I'd hate to see these annoying bugs and glitches reappear in a remastered version. If I have to mention one that really annoyed me it has to be the bed-eating-data-pad glitch in the Garrus romance! You see it happen at 0.25!

Basically, both Tali and Garrus got identical animations at the start of their respective romance scenes. To create the illusion that they weren't exactly the same their camera angles were different. This would have been fine except the camera focuses on the data-pad during Garrus's romance scene at a moment where it magically disappears. Not only that but you can tell the transition is choppy too (Garrus flickers for a second right after the data-pad vanishes). This bugged me (pun intended) because it just makes it even more obvious that this cut-scene was rushed.

There's a Liara romance bug - in ME3 she will assume you weren't in a relationship with her despite romancing her in ME1 (and confirming in LotSB).

I just wish the Ash marksman bug was fixed. Makes her substandard to even have on my team.

Is there an explanation for why that is a bug? I mean, they could've simply recorded the same responses for both romance and non-romance versions. After all you have to reaffirm your interest for all romances in the game.

I just wish the Ash marksman bug was fixed. Makes her substandard to even have on my team.

Would you rather all the other bugs remain? :P

When her Marksman power worked, Ashley WITH marksman WAS substandard. Ashley is always better without Marksman.

I stopped using it before it became bugged and never looked back.

Uhhh, also it appears that on AMD processors with more than four cores in Mass Effect 1 this happens...

I, for one, would love for this to be fixed.  Happens both on Noveria and on Virmire.

I know its probably not a ideal solution, but, considering the games age can you not force the game to use 4 cores or less? I know this is possible with task manager.

Believe it does not work.

It's something internal before it even gets to the cores.

It is already in the original post.

  • Pointed out by KrrKs: Noveria/Peak 15. Textures aren't loaded/lit on certain ATI cards. The cause seems to be shader related. Video

Also added another bug about missing textures when destroying the Rannoch Reaper. Video

Okay, these are the best screenshots I've been able to get so far of examples of z-fighting in ME2.  This is one of the worst areas for the affect to occur.  This is in the Presidum, during Spectre reinstatement while wearing the default N7 armor.  I've only used gibbed for eye/lip/hair color tweaks.  This is otherwise using a non modded facecode. Note poor Shep's hair:

Some of the closeups were just fine though.

Not shown: I couldn't get a good screenshot of Udina's z-fighting as he walks in through the door, but it mainly happens around the eyes.  It happens to Anderson as well.  Also, there is tiny little flickers almost constantly throughout the dialogue, but Shepard's entrance is the most severe.  I'll get ones of Tuchunka's z-fighting when I make it back out there.

I added those. Can you create an album for z-fighting bug screenshots? Because now I link them as Image 1, Image 2 etc. and it does not really look well :) It might be better to link the album instead ;)

Also, added another bug, regarding the turian fighters on Menae :D

Sure thing.  I'm thankful that I got a few decent screenshots of the effect.  Oh and if it makes any difference, I'm using an AMD processor and video card.

I'm not sure if that's related, this seems more an in-game bug than a hardware one. If someone with non-AMD processor and video card will say that he didn't encounter that bug, I'll add a note about it :)

@Vazgen

There is an issue in the Italian version of ME3 regarding the audio.

In the first minutes of the game, many lines of dialogue overlap, most likely because the timing is wrong.

This issue can be easily fixed adjusting the time in which each sentece is supposed to fired.

To reproduce this issue, just play Mass Effect 3 in Italian or watch this video:

Please, let me know if my report is clear enough :)

Did it really work in the first place then? I mean... it's not a bad power for Shep (if you're not a Soldier at least).

Yes, Marksman used to work on Ashley until patch 4 or 5. Now apparently, when you activate it on her, she constantly fiddles with her Omni Tool or something and never actually fires. Some players have said that it still works if you give her the Lancer.

Marksman always worked for Shepard.

I used to use Marksman on her, but found she worked much better when you used her Concussive Shot instead. Marksman increases accuracy and rate of fire, but even when it worked on her, how she used weapons never changed. So if she fired three shots with a weapon, then she still fired the same three shots under Marksman, only quicker. It did not make her better. And the cooldown was way too long for its duration; with the right evolutions you could get the cooldown and duration to line up somewhat.

Using Inferno Grenades and Concussive Shot gives her better priming and detonating capabilities, which makes her a better squadmate.

Marksman works best on the Infiltrator, since you can cloak-cancel the cooldown and have it activated almost constantly. I know some players like to use it on the Soldier if they want a non-Adrenaline Rush playstyle. I find it hard to justify using it the other classes though since it locks you out of all your other cast-able powers. Engineer, Adept, and Sentinel are built around casting, using Marksman locks you out of casting those powers. Engineer maybe if you want to cast out Drone and Turret, then shoot. Sentinel maybe if you want to rely on just Tech Armor for some protection and maybe chuck out grenades. Using it on Vanguard locks you out of Charge and other biotic powers except Nova. But even then, a chargeless Vanguard has a lot better options than Marksman.

Great list, V! Thanks for taking the time to compile it. I have some to add and others to discuss:

In ME3, when talking with Liara the first time and asking about Glyph or when it enters the conversation, Shepard's head starts to follow it, and don't stop, even when only talking to Liara.

Dunno if it's a bug or so, but : In ME2, if you use your power and enter the Hammerhead before the power Cooldown is complete, the two semi-circles (that represent the Power Cooldown system) will appear on screen and stay there until you exit the vehicle.

And then there is this recent bug I've saw being discussed about Tali's Recruitment Mission, where there was a door that wouldn't open, didn't even have the Red "Locked" or the Green "Open" Symbols.

______________

Discussion:

Pointed out by SilJeff: Conrad Verner accusing Shepard of pointing a gun to his face if Paragon option was taken in ME1. - This would be wise to implement, but in ME3, there is even a dialogue that Verner "fixes" that mistake. So, if this bug is fixed, then ME3 Conversation with Conrad would have to be changed too.

Pointed out by Heimerdinger: Jericho Station, Strabo System, Eagle Nebula. The lab room with the laser experiment - watching the laser hit the final point will crash the game. Need to look away from the beam to avoid this. This was fixed in ME2 latest patch. I've also experienced it, but when I applied the patch, it works just as normal.

Pointed out by L. Han: Walking right next to walls or other objects can sometimes randomly lift you up and get you stuck. Ditto. Sometimes you don't even NEED to walk right to the wall...I was in that planet you needed to disable the Bloodpack Coms Relay and I was moving normal, but suddenly, Shepard levitated and I got stuck, forcing me to restart the mission.

I didn't notice it here: Link

Do you have a screenshot or maybe a video of this?

Where is that door?

Is this true about the latest ME2 patch? If it is true for someone else as well than I'll remove the bug from the list.

I don't think a fully coherent list could every truly exist that lists every single one. I've done over 15 ME2 playthroughs and I STILL discover new glitches.

The ones I want gone the most are save import flag bugs, and the ME2 one where Shepard will levitate in the air for no reason forcing me to restart a mission.

That is probably true, but the more we can document, the more they'll be able to fix if they ever get to doing it. :)
