Your character is an elf, what is it to decide? From RP perspective you do not know about Flemeth but Mythal is your goddess. Someone\something you ALREADY bound to and willingly. To be even closer - at direct service to Mythal AND get enormous power (to be able to provide that service and for your own needs as well) - something you could only dream of.
I say from RP pov - drink it and let Morrigan be free.

When I played Origins for the first time, Morrigan was my warden's LI. It was the only time I played a Morrigan-romanced warden through to the end, because every warden I played after that (but two) were spellbound by a certain redheaded bard from Orlais. Anyway, I never thought much about Morrigan after that first game, except that she always disapproved of every decision I made
I loaded up that first game again when Witch Hunt came out, and I felt some closure as regards the Witch of the Wilds, when my warden followed her through the Eluvian. It was all good. I was happy. Time to turn my attention to DA2 and sarcastic femHawke, who became the best protagonist I'd ever played in an RPG. Even better than commander Shepard... and that's saying something.
Then inquisition came out, and I was re-introduced to an older, wiser, softer, more maternal Morrigan, and I fell in love with her all over again. I love what they did with her for Inquisition, and I look forward to what the future holds for her. I know how you feel, OP. When Bio does write good characters, they make them memorable for sure.

Hey, Spork...
Thank you for his comment.
That's exctly what I needed to hear. ![]()

What you really learn however is that Morrigan has it wrong - so what if she is bound to Flemeth/Mythal - it was never about stealing her body it was about passing along Mythal's essence to Morrigan. Have her drink from the well or not - but don't feel bad for Morrigan outside the fact that for all her "wisdom" she had it wrong this whole time.

It still would have altered her personality. It's essentially the same thing, isn't it?
If she doesn't want her status quo to be tampered with by an ancient being -Flemeth or Mythal- then that's her decision, and not a foolish one in my book.

The Inquisitor gains nothing from drinking from the well. You need to give Morrigan more credit than you seem to be?
To me Morrigan is the only choice to receive the benefits of the Well of Sorrows. Flemeth/Mythal clearly and specifically states that Morrigan was never in any danger from her, despite her having believed otherwise based upon the content of the Grimoire. I have seen few people commenting on Flemeth's brief facial response to Morrigan's statements made earlier to her in the Fade, as Kieran was being retrieved. To me that one flash of a moment showed a realization on the part of Flemeth for how she was perceived by her daughter, beyond what she may have intended or expected?
[Dev notes available online, but discussing planned lore content not stated anywhere in Inquisition, clear up crucial elements of what Flemeth/Mythal intended for Morrigan. If you do not know what I'm talking about, try Googling that stuff and then see how you feel about your beloved Witch of the Wilds drinking from the well.]
You may change your mind about how it affects her down the road?

People in the Morrigan thread are mostly going the protective route. You romanced her in Origins, and in DAI you have a Warden who would be very upset if anything happened to her. So, the Inquisitor drinks. Ditto what people have said about having a Dalish Inquisitor.
However, if she does drink, she gains power that she's never had before. Even Flemeth says the voices "will teach you as I never could." And considering the ending of the game... it might be okay to let Morrigan drink, even if she is bound to Mythal.

- I learned something important by this: Fictive characters can often be more real than real people.
Especially if they are made well.
And game developers like Bioware are close to a point where reality and fiction can get mixed up. You can really get deep into a game without noticing it.
I was completely an utterly in love with Morrigan again in this moment. So deeply. Maybe even more than in Dragon Age Origins.
Bioware really does manage to create characters that you can find yourself caring about as passionately as if they were real life people. It's weird for me to sit and ponder that despite their being fictional characters, I can find myself feeling legitimate love for some of them.
That being said, though, I've had Inquisitors leave someone I love behind in the Fade. I could probably only manage to roleplay that because ultimately I know they aren't real and I can't really harm them. But it's still heartbreaking every time.

The feelings I had for Morrigan suddenly bursted out in flames in a moment. That was what knocked me out. Completely. I was simply not able to make a decision. I only cared for Morrigan. Nothing else mattered.
Completely idiotic, right? A non-existing video game figure...
I get what you mean. I only felt that way for one video game character... Bastila Shan. the desire to protect her and all that. The fact that she had a special power probably added to that feeling.

You and your character are different beings. You may want to help Morrigan but your character not only may not but will not know they are harming her. So.....Do what your character will do is in ignorance...
Also, the crash issue maybe on your side....And there 50 year olds on this board....and playing this game?

Ohh definite yes, 65 here and still gaming away, love the rpg's. As a matter of fact back in the day, I used rpg's as a teaching tool in my classes on human values, choices and consequences. Planscape Torment was a particular favorie of mine. Students loved it, learned a lot, been subverting generations of younger folk! ![]()
At first in DAO I could not stand Morrigan, but when you got to know her, and observe her, and how she grows, I grew to really love the depth of the character and how well written she is. You really can have a huge impact on her. One of the best written IMHO of all the DAO npcs.

Uhm yes. And older.
My mother is not on the forums, but she plays this game (and lots of other games too - specifically RPGs and survival horror). She is 67. She likes to roll with a Qunari two handed warrior woman. She's a BAMF, my mom.

...Why couldn't I have the luck in being in your class?
Also, I agree with your notions of rpgs. They have such emotional and social depth.

Saw this thread title and immediately thought of that part in Ocarina of Time where Ganondorf is like:
"CURSE YOU ZELDA! CURSE YOU SAGES! CURSE YOU LINK" except my brother would always name Link "Zelda" as well so it was:
"CURSE YOU ZELDA! CURSE YOU SAGES! CURSE YOU ZELDA!" Which is something he and I will say to each other at random.
Yes, you all needed to know this.

I have been thinking all day. Yes I have.
And I have reached the conlusion that I made the wrong decision before I fainted from lack of sleep last night.
I have to load a previous save today and correct my mistake.
I remember Flemeth say to Morrigan: "You were never in any danger from me, girl."
Flemeth obvioulsy wanted Morrigan to obtain the power that can protect her and make her even stronger. And it actually fits. Why should Flemeth go through all this just to lure Morrigan into a trap? Flemeth knew she balanced on an edge. And she helped the inquisitor. By doing so she knew her destiny was decided.
I have to load a previous save and let her drink this time.
Here's a little poetry from my first choice:
"You might not understand this, Morrigan. I do this for you..."

"I wish I could read your mind, Morrigan."

"And I wonder if I really did the right thing."

While I can tend towards flippancy, I do appreciate what the OP is trying to say.
I don't feel this way about Morrigan, myself, but I am pleased that the series has this effect on people. That they are emotionally invested, that they do care about their favorite characters. In my opinion games, and other forms of storytelling, are best when they make you feel something.
So keep on keeping on, OP. I salute you.
