My ps3 cannot handle the constant auto-saving it freezes up 4-5 times daily. I had this problem with a few other games but they give you the option to turn off auto-save and the problem is fixed. Please I am worried this crashing all the time will ruin my ps3. Please release a patch to fix it soon.

That sounds more like an issue with your PS3 than with Dragon Age.

I have never heard of a system crashing constantly from auto-saving before and I have been playing video games for a VERY long time.

I am not the only person with this problem. Others have complained about it. My ps3 runs GTA5, Far Cry 3 and 4, Watch dogs, and countless other games flawlessly. XCOM did the same thing froze from auto saving once I turned it off never had a problem again. I believe its a problem with memory constantly trying to load the map and save every few mins is causing the game to glitch. I can play other games like gta5 for many hours without so much as a hiccup but play DA:I for an hour or two and it will freeze up. Usally when I port from haven to somewhere. It will freeze while attempting to load the map and auto-saving.

It could have something to do with the fact that its a digital copy of the game. My ps3 is constantly being forced to read/load from and save to the hard drive all at the same time.

Auto-saving feels like a feature inherent to console gaming to begin with, which is probably why there usually isn't an option to turn it off. In PC games it barely existed before console porting began, but simple quicksave button functionality is still better.

All my games are digital copies and this happens in about 1 of 10. Every other time the game has had the option to turn auto-save off and that has fixed the problem . I think this bug/glitch happens from constantly trying to save and load from the hard drive at the same time. I'd guess the disk version wouldn't have the same problem. This never happens in the first hour of playing so my guess is it happens when the memory/ram gets low. I'm just asking for a way to turn it off please otherwise this game is almost unplayable and I really enjoy it.

I don't normally buy EA games but I made an exception for this game because it looked amazing and I'm very glad I did. I like this game so much I made an exception for all BioWare games and have recently picked up mass effect. I'm just hoping they will release a patch to make this game playable before my ps3 breaks from crashing all the time. Thanks BioWare for making this great game can't wait for your next release.

It's a PS3, what is the OP going to do to fix it? You've been playing games for a long time why don't you help the OP by giving him some ideas to fix his PS3 instead of stating the obvious?

If they did that, their smug sense of superiority would be diminished, and we can't have that can we?

Now i know nothing about consoles but i have to agree it does sound like an issue with the Ps3 or their design in general, could the drive be having issues?

Also even on PC i felt the game as it got later in the story seemed to lag more and things took ages to render in..

I thought it was an import from other genres. FPSs have typically had autosaves at various points, turn-based strategy games have always had autosaves, and so on.

I agree with OP.

It's extremely annoying with the autosave. The game saves constantly, and usually around the exact same time as I want to save.

Having to wait for autosaving to get done so I can save also is annoying.

You are playing a 2014/2015 game with a hardware technology that's almost ten years old, so what do you expect? If it was a ten year old PC you could probably find it in a museum.

How dare I make an observation.

What a tool I am.

Seriously guys?

He stated his issue and gave the impression that he had no idea what the problem was.

I in turn let him know the problem more than likely was with his system rather than the game itself. If I knew what the actual issue with his system was I would immediately let him know.  I obviously did not. From the OP it sounded to me as if he thought the problem was the game not his System. So by telling him its most likely his console I let him narrow his search for help down. Which is obviously more than you did.

Then you accuse me of not being helpful and instead of offering explanations or advice of your own you ignore the OP completely and post in the thread solely in an attempt to insult me.

Grow up.

It existed on both but was used mainly on consoles. However, now that consoles have hard drives and can pop in and out of game to menu (and now in and out of games in current gen since they treat games like apps on a phone), mandatory autosaves should be a thing of the past.

The only time I freeze up is while autosaving. So I would like to be able to turn it off. Plus it can't be great for my system to constantly save then re-save over and over again. I never use auto saved files ever unless I freeze up and have to turn off the ps3. Theres simply no need or reason to have it. I feel its a design flaw in the game that could be easily fixed with a patch. So I'm asking, begging, pleading that they fix it before my dinosaur becomes extinct.

The game to actually work on the hardware it was intended to be used on?
