I read there was the new patch out, so I decided to return for the finish line of DAi... but now my inquisitor has shiny hair... is that the patch? I mean the meshes are on high, the textures are on medium... what else is there?
I would be glad if someone helped me here... she looks ridiculous now... :/
Shiny hair again?!?

Take a gander at the Graphics settings and fiddle with Shaders options. I believe PAtch 5 has divorced the requirement for Mesh and Shader settings to be of similar value in order to remove the bad hair. Also, I have heard that Patch 5 will reset your Graphics (or some of them) settings. Up the Shader value to at least High and you should be good to go. Mind you I am still on Patch 2 myself so I am speaking from 3rd party info.
good luck!
Edit: instead of Shader I guess its likely the Post Processing quality that you want to go with, basically the same values one had to deal with before with this problem. The difference is that it is no longer necessary to keep them in sync with Mesh Quality. This should allow one to remove the bad hair and also increase FPS by lowering the Mesh Quality.

They added some new options like Shader Quality etc.
I don't know if this has something to do with that.. and actually a bit too lazy to play with the settings around, since it requires a restart of the game ![]()
@Dinkledorf - Why and how are you still on Patch 2? ![]()

I love it how easy quick fixes suddenly get reverted and become uselessly complicated...
thanks for the help...

On PC it is possible if you have not allowed auto-updates and start DAI when you are offline on Origin.

Did it work? Was it the post-processing settings?

Pretty simple, they separated Mesh and shader quality so, now you can lower mesh quality for better performance and, raise shader quality to minimize the shine, see scars, etc... it has less of an impact on performance that mesh does so, it's a good change.

I'm sticking to Patch 2 until something worthwhile comes along. Its running well for me and after Patch 3 and 4 reported all those problems I decided to hold back.
I just had to install Patch 5. My Inventory was full of stuff i wanted to keep. Now i got my Storage with unlimted space :3 everything fine.
And i don't have to run to the vendor every 5 minutes to clean my inventory.
Also next Patch has the Black Emporium which is just a must have. I always wanted to change my character a bit.. can't wait ![]()

I still have shiny hair... Cassandra hair are fine but Inquisitor is still shiny. I have meshes on ultra, I tried to set almost everything besides shadows on ultra and it's still shiny. Ugh...

Small edit - Ah misread. Then i do not know. It is meshes and shader that decide hair quality atleast.

I don't know... It's weird. Only black hair are shining, rest of colors are fine.
Thanks for response. ![]()

Is Blackwall's hair doing it too?
There's no real black hair option for the inquisitor. The closest option is a very Clark Kentian blueish blackish, with a slight but distinct shine to it. No way around that, unfortunately.

Hmm, Blackwall hair are fine. I tried to use dai save editor to have black hair and maybe thats why they shine but I've seen that it was working fine for other people.
I'm going to change hair colour to brown and it should be fine. It's a pity though...

It is odd indeed, and abit annoying. There are alot of small things with the game that should have been fixed, and now it never will.

It's the mesh settings that makes hair shiny
