Hey all!

I need a little help. I'm playing NWN with a friend over Hamachi, as a LAN-game. We both have it patched up to 1.69. Until now everything was fine, but just at the end of chapter one, when we got to the ritual chamber, he (mage5, dragon disciple1) lost his spellbook. Upon further investigation we noticed his experience bar was completely missing, and his class was displayed as "fighter(1)". He still could summon his familiar though.

Even stranger, after teleporting to the Road to Helm Fort he saw himself moving by teleport, or not able to move at all...while i saw him move normally.

We tried relogging, reloading older chars (whit each reload he started losing items, like the brooch for Daelan's quest, gloves, and jewellery) and older saves too, nothing helped. After that we tried him to host the game, which made my char change to fighter (1), and seemingly moving by teleporting. I also lost all my jewellery, a cloak, and my other cloaks surprisingly changed color.

When playing singleplayer with the same char save there is no problem, we both have our original char class and equipment back (except Daelan's brooch, that seems being lost for good), but as soon as we try multiplayer, the issue gets back.

Anyone experienced the same issue? Anyone any ideas what's causing it, and more importantly: how to fix it?

I've never heard of anything like this happening.

So you're absolutely sure that you're loading the correct character in multiplayer?  Is it giving you a prompt whether you want to load the saved game character or the character from the list?  Because if it's not giving you that option, something's definitely wrong -- it's checking the exact name of the character in those cases.

Yes, absolutely sure. It gave the option to choose, and both the local char, and the save game char had the same issue. All saves, all chars had the same issue. New chars too, and the standard premade characters too.
We had no CC installed, and both had the Diamond edition, on 1.69.

Btw, we both reinstalled the game, and dropped the saves and the chars to the newly installed localvault and saves map. After reinstalling the whole game the issue is fixed, so not the save files or the char files were corrupted, but something was wrong with the game itself.

I'd still like to know if anyone has experienced this before, it got me kinda curious because i found no similar case on any NWN community site.

Do you have CEP 1x installed? This happened to me with an old cep mod once and I had to install this http://neverwinterva...k/cep1-completeto fix it. If it's not a CEP issue, try the 1.69 override fix. http://neverwinterva...ide-patch-files

Good luck!

No, no custom content. Only the Diamond Edition. No additional mod, hak, or anything else.

If the same issue arises again, i'll try the override fix, thanks!

When you play over a normal LAN, I know that port settings can cause conflicts. Its possible that the VPN acts the same way. If this is the case, then each player connecting should use a different game port. The default ports are Client Port = 5120 and Game Port = 5121. One of you can keep these settings, but the other should open their "nwnplayer.ini" file and change their settings. The second player is recommended to use Client Port = 5122. For each additional person joining, add 2 to the last used port, example ... a third person should use Client Port = 5124, fifth uses Client Port = 5128, etc... .

Clients sharing the same ports over a LAN game, or if 2 or more connect to a MP game from the same IP, can have or cause all sorts of character related issues.
