I find one character I like and play them over and over again

I find myself always playing a female mage with the necromancer specialization. I try another gender/class yet can never get into it. I have some leeway on the game's few decisions, but can never steer from the templar quest path.

As for true repetition, I've played my canon twice.

I most certainly do repetitive playthroughs.

I agonized about creating my first Inquisitor for a half hour on the screen to choose my race. I kept going back and forth and I couldn't decide what I wanted to be. I ultimately chose Qunari mage. Every Inquisitor afterwards has felt like an imposter.

Sure, I played them and beat the game as a dwarf, but the Qunari mage feels like "the" inquisitor to me.

In Origins, I struggle between Dwarven Noble and Human Mage.

When playing Dragon Age - or really any other BioWare roleplay game - I tend to do a couple playthroughs until I find a path of choice and a character that I like and then I play that path/character over and over again. It's fun for me. It's like playing Batman: Arkham Asylum over and over again. If I'm with a character I like, the game never gets old.

I can't be the only person who does this, but I've had a few friends suggest I'm crazy for doing so. I have tried playing other characters, but I just get bored because I've already fallen in love with certain aspects of the game and it's not as much fun deviating from them. I'm much happier in my head canon.
Anyone else do repetitive playthroughs?

I'm not qutie as extreme, but I know what you're saying. My first Inquisitor was an immediate success, and I'm returning to her often as I refine her decision set through several playthroughs. However, I don't stick to her exclusively - I've played three different ones in-between - and I only replay her if I think I need to change something.

I only ever have one character. All other playthroughs (which is still a number lower than 5) are never finished and only played until I realize I didn't ever like them.

For the same reason I think the DA franchise needs a New Game+ mechanic. I don't mind playing Mass Effect with the exact same choices over and over, cause I can sell it by only wanting to max out my stuff...

I try to change things up a bit every play through but I always go back to my elf mage, Cullen romancing, nice girl.

When I do change things up I struggle to finish them.  I've yet to complete a warrior and it took me forever to finish my dwarf rogue archer.

I knew this would happen though, DAO I was nearly always an elf mage (dalish mage mod) nice girl and in 2 was mage in almost all my pts.

I just don't feel right being anything but a fmage trying to do the right thing and romancing the sweet guy and I am fine with that.

I do the exact same thing! in DA:O & DA2 I played the same character over 20 times each, but I havent done that yet in DAI. I probably will, but it's a longer game so who knows?

I never finished my first playthrough of DAO as an elven mage. Then I came back and played my female noble human rogue and something about it just felt right, and I can't play anything else.

Same thing happened with DA2; I just can't finish a game that isn't a male mage Hawke while I've played that at least a dozen times.

I always want to try something different on another play through and I always end up doing the same thing again lol.

There was a time ( few years ago ), when I liked to test all classes and choices in games, but now... No, not really. My character always have to be human, female rogue and I always stick to the same choices over and over again when I'm replaying DA ( or ME ). Even to the same LI or whatever. It just feels not right when I try to play as a mage or a warrior or even an elf.
Guess I like my FemRogue too much to replace her ^_^

I like to try different characters and I do, but there always is one character I just love so much that I can't stop playing and play through it over 20 times. In DAO it was a Male Dwarven Noble Sword & Shield Champion & in DA2 it was a Male Force Mage. In DAI it is a Female Qunari Mage Necromancer but I haven't played it a second time yet. I'm going to play a few other characters before doing that one again.
