That still is contrived as heck. You don't just stomp several dozen interstellar mega-corporation out of the ground in thirty years, I need not remind you that humanity is one the weakest power economicallyin Mass Effect.

Furthermore, Jack Harper was nothing but a disillusioned and disgruntled gun-for-hire at the end of the First contact war.  How such a man could aquire the initial money, resources, technology, intellect and manpower needed to start his conspiracy  that rivals the current establishement without ever being noticed. Especially when you come from a society which is still so relatively isolated from the rest of interstellar society. Mind you, Cerberus was doing grand operation some twenty years before ME1, only about five years af First contact War, Timewise it makes not sense at all.

The best way I can call it is disproportionate, realisticaly there wouldn't be any Human enterprises operating on a galactic scale, the Turian wouldn't construct a Stealth ship a species that only appeared on the galactic theatre twenty terran years ago (which is nothing by council standards) and there would be no Human splinter group that rivals not only the entire goverment, (and by that, all governments of earth) but the near united galaxy as well.

Shamus Young wrote some excellent pieces on Cerberus in his Mass Effect recap series, just explaining how the dumb the whole ordeal is:

As noted, Jack Harper found the Star Forge.

It is known.   :D

All hail Darth TIM!

Then you'll understand my fears of ME:A doing the same thing ME did for Cerberus, this time for the MW refugees versus the Andromedans.

Since we were talking about Retribution before, here is a bit of a mess-up in that book: Kahlee Sanders tells Anderson that she never heard of the reapers before. However, in the previous book Ascension, she goes into a detailed discussion with the quarian Admiralty board about the origins of the reapers and their connection to Saren and Dr. Quian.

She does get hit on the head pretty hard a few days after that conversation though, so maybe that had some ill effects. :D

Maybe it was Drew Karpyshyn who got hit on the head, and he lost some of his memories.

I discovered that Shepard's armor is able to record things...which makes Shepard completely dumb for not showing those recordings to the Council in the first game.

Meh, the Council would have blown even the Sovereign off as a Saren or Geth trick. I'm sure they'd find some excuse for Vigil. They had a Reaper in front of them and decided it was a Geth ship because that was easier.

Something that bothers me every time I see it is the breather masks in places with dangerous or little to no atmosphere that only cover the mouth and nose.

Stop it.

I couldn't have said it better

How ME is supposed to be a Sci-Fi Universe if it can't even respect laws of physics?

are they some kind of Super guys? if yes, then it is NOT cool!

ME1 was a sci-fi. Later it became a superhero adventure from comic books where logic doesn't matter.

I was with him until he started praising the failed abortion of writing that was the Rannoch arc. Didn't even mention the gross character derailment, Dyson idiot ball, geth-reaper alliance idiot ball, Pinnochio geth, or the logistical problems presented by the whitewashed propaganda film in killing 99.5% of a species of billions in "self defense".  Instead, he chose to fanwank the geth and repeatedly call Han'Gerrel a villain.

At least he pointed out how insanely stupid the Reaper boss fight was.

Yeah...well, he's biased towards AI because he likes them so much in science fiction. He looks at them from a sci-fi perspective and considers them alive although if anyone has at least a little bit of knowledge about how computers work then they would see how lame it looks trying to humanize electronic slaves. Not everyone is capable to see things this way. So I'd say it's worth to continue reading and ignore his bias towards geth (although it was really hard to read that he'd sacrifice quarians over robots).

ehhh excuse me,but do you actually read comics?
ME Universe,despite some ilogical issues,is definitelly a Sci-Fi Universe.
It would be ridiculous to compare Mass Effect to a comic book universe.

Don't worry. The next one's about the "character" of Kai Leng. And I'm pretty sure you'll both agree on that, at least.

Is there anyone, literally anyone, who likes Kai Leng as presented in ME3?

Someone at Bioware wrote the b*stard into the game so I'm assuming he likes him.

Eh, the rest is entertaining enough, I just don't know how one who wrote the preceeding articles couldn't pick apart that arc from a literary perspective, though. Even if you agree with the premise (i.e. hammering home the "robots are people too" message with about as much nuance and subtlety as a sledgehammer to the face), the writing is horrendous, logically nonsensical according to the rules of the universe, and contradicts previous characterizations/ lore of both the quarians and geth worse than perhaps anything else in the entirety of ME3, even the endings. All people seem to ever think it did well in was the feelz department (didn't do so for me though, because even with the ridiculous premise of the Reaper code plot, I couldn't get over that almost none of the characters are really the same people or agents from the previous games).

I don't think I'll ever get why people like these anthropomorphic "robot develops the feelz" plots. In addition to being unscientific nonsense that actual AI experts tend to laugh at and pick apart relentlessly, they are also cancerously overdone in science fiction and have been so for decades. Despite some slip ups (Legion armor piece and "does this unit have a soul" coming to mind) ME2 almost looked like it wasn't going to go that direction with the geth, but ME3 undid that completely.

This thread is better at cinemasinning Mass Effect than cinemasins at movies themselves.

I also discovered I apparently go braindead when playing video games and notice NONE of the logical errors. Interesting.

Very true. My FemShep and her plastic hair are jealous of his flowing locks.
