Better question is, how Shepard's medi-gel heals squadmates without requiring getting close to them? Also, how do they jump on their feet if you deal with all the enemies without reviving them? ![]()

The alliance military structure doesn't make any sense since I think its meant to be based on the US military.

Uhm, it's a fictional military. They can do whatever they want with it.

IIRC, it is stated in the codex somewhere that medigel is applied to the correct location of the body by dispensers on the inside of the combat armor. When the player presses the medigel button, a signal is sent to the suit of the squad mates to heal them as well.
Of course, this leaves three problems:
1) The concern about Lagion and EDI is valid (maybe they got some sort of repair system of their own though, that is just not mentioned)
2) What about people who don't wear proper armor, like Jack (yet another reason why the slinky character design in ME2 was atrocious, as if we needed more)
3) Why does Shepard have to heal everyone at once? If medigel is such a valuable recourse that we can only carry 5 doses or so at a time, we should have more control over it and be able to heal squad mates specifically (this is an inconsistency even in ME1)

I think the Alliance rank structure is mostly fine, except for probably needing a couple more NCO ranks. I'd have had Corporal be entirely different than a Serviceman 1st Class, and the most junior of the Non-Commissioned Officer ranks. I'd also throw in a Sergeant rank just above Corporal, with Service Chief being the first Staff NCO rank.
That ranking isn't that great. They call Traynor a specialist, but don't have it listed. A specialist is an E-4, the same rank as a corporal. During the game Shepard refers to her as an officer. Whatever. It's a fictional group so Bioware can name the ranks whatever they want
The writers did seem to have a fixation on making every named Alliance character an officer, even when it didn't make sense for them to be one. That's probably because it sounds important, and they have no idea what an NCO does. Chris L'Etoile was perhaps the lone exception, but his character later got bumped up to an officer anyway with Mass Effect 3.
That is assuming that a Specialist is supposed to be an officer in the Mass Effect universe. As Mike said they aren't in the real world, but Traynor is referred to an officer at one point. So its a little confusing on whether she was intended to be an officer or being referred to as one was an oversight.
Put it this way. The writing team was headed by Mac Walters. Military ranks were the last thing on his mind. He gave us Starchild. But man, the feelz.
Its been a problem since ME1 (when Drew was head writer) and the ranks were never handled constantly in the entire trilogy (Kaidan becoming a Lieutenant to a Staff Commander in two years sounds really far fetched). I'm more inclined to say Bioware wanted to take a star wars-esque approach to promotions.Put it this way. The writing team was headed by Mac Walters. Military ranks were the last thing on his mind.

Hey, you got lucky or 'Used the Force' and blew up that space station, you have the makings of a great general!
Oh, here's a good one.... At the end of the Suicide Mission, you know when the terminator blows up how those platforms become unstable? I had Grunt and Jack on my team last night, and Grunt was sliding to the edge and fell, and Superwoman grabbed him and pulled him back up onto the platform.
Krogan weigh about 1 ton each without armor acc'd to the novels, and Grunt's a big one. Now add I don't know how many pounds of armor and an unstable platform.
And poor Kasumi. I keep having these horrid visions of Grunt walking out of the lavatory with a newspaper. But don't worry we have Gardiner who catches everything that falls through the cracks.
Scanning for assets in ME3
In some systems when scanning for assets, the reapers are alerted, but when in a system that has a side mission or main mission, the reapers are not alerted when pinging.

Some how Shepard still has the 10 asari writings and the Elkoss Combine Armory License on her omnitool from ME1. Wouldn't the omnitool of been damaged after Shepard died at the beginning of ME2?

I think (and I am not sure if I remember this entirely correctly so correct me if I'm wrong) the reapers are only coming at you in those systems that are already under attack (i.e. in those clusters, that are red and have a reaper symbol on top of them in the GM). In that case, it does make sense.
However, what doesn't make sense is that when the reapers are chasing me, the chase stops, once the Normandy is in orbit around a plane, i.e. if I am almost caught by a reaper but I quickly go into orbit around a planet and spend 5 minutes searching for an asset, the reapers will just "wait" until I leave orbit before they catch me.
...But if you ask me, the entire reaper chase mechanic was a stupid idea anyway, gameplay-wise and lore-wise (evading reapers is Joker's job and done on the bridge, not at the GM of the CIC, where the commander just gives orders on a course. In that way, the entire ME2/3 GM with the miniatures was rather idiotic. The ME1 GM was much better (and the planets looked much more real as well IMO). But I think this was mentioned in this thread already.

Kicking a Yahg's ass in melee combat is similar. I just attribute it to strength implants (or manipulate the game so I don't have to pull up Grunt) ![]()
Are you sure Grunt's using a lavatory?
@MrFob - I used to just scan and scan until I knew where everything was. I'd get caught by the reapers a few times. But once I knew where everything was, I could fire the scanners and get everything without alerting them or get out without getting caught. The reaper chase mini-game was a waste of time.

Yeah the game autosaves as soon as you enter the system, so you can just Groundhog Day anything there.
When talking with the Krogan on Tuchanka, he will tell Shepard "the road is out. The convoy can't make it through." But after the Turian fighter crashes into the Krogan trucks, the front two trucks are able to cross. If the player looks at the spot where the 2 trucks crossed, the gap is too wide for them to of cross. Before the fighter crashes, the gap didn't look that bad too cross.

No need. When you leave the system on one side and re-enter it, you always end up on the other side. This way, it's really easy to get everything, even with reapers around. Yep, the "gameplay-mechanic" (and that's me making air-quotes there) is that beautiful. ![]()
I always thought it was odd how the Mass relays never get wrecked by random debris. We clearly see that 1 asteroid (a big one) smashes it up into pieces.

You also see the relay sending lightning bolts or whatever to break up the asteroid, but failed. So I would say the lightning is some kind of defense mechanism that activates when floating debris gets within range of the relay to prevent any damage
