My inquisitor isn't in a romance with The Iron Bull or Dorian, so when I heard that scenario causes some pretty funny party banter I put the two in my party and set off to do some side quests and kill some dragons in an attempt to get that dialogue to happen. In doing so I noticed that my party doesn't really banter all that often, which motivated me to try a and find a way to actually hear all the cool stuff that my inquisition buddies have to say. What I have found is this:
One possible way to initiate party banter is you leave your party idle in an area with no enemies (best results after fast traveling to a camp) every 10 -14 minutes or so you should get some dialogue. Th only down side being that it can pretty boring to just sit around waiting for these guys to talk, and your console (I'm play on a PS4) might go into power saving mode if you aren't paying attention and miss the warning to use the controller.
