No matter what class I'm rocking, I'm gonna be using the same basic strategy and techniques. those are as follows:
1: My playstyle has evolved around not dying.
2. Stay calm and aim for the head. Do not get flustered.
3. Be aware of the mooks. either kill them before engaging a boss or move to a position where they cannot hit you and attack the boss from there.. If your teammates are attacking a boss and there are mooks shooting at them, do not shoot the boss as well. They have it covered, kill the mooks and then help finish off the boss: who will now be no threat as no one needs to be revived 2 feet in front of it in a hail of bullets from collector captains etc.
4. Rock the initial spawn on waves 7-9. Workout the most likely spawn location based on your teammates positions. Ideal number of missiles on wave 10 is 2 imo.
5. I normally take a route around the outskirts of the map and then go through the centre to finish the wave. Take wave 1 condor for example: Starting from LZ I would head left, past the crane, up the hill, hit spawn 1 which overlooks the centre. then fight my way back down the hll, past the crane and back past the LZ, and then and only then push through the centre.
6. Attack the game. Kill the enemies before they have a chance to start shooting at you. Take the initiative and rush bosses (after the mooks have been dealt with). Make them swing and miss and punish them for it (not banshees or praetorians or phantoms).
7. Never ever stick with all your team, all the enemy aggro will be coming straight at you. (the exception being if ye are roaming the map as a 4 man death squad)
8. Remember your teammates have gels. If they die in a bad spot the onus is on them to use a gel. Not on you to Rambo in there and bust through 2 ops packs and a missile. You may need that equipment to clutch a wave. or to complete a sticky objective wave. Absolutely no hero stuff can be attempted on Jade (that centre-ish device can be murder).
9. If you go down give your team time to come revive you, it promotes a feeling of teamwork and gives them a chance to return the favour for all the times you revive them.. Never let yourself bleedout or get stomped. If you use equipment, the randoms are more likely to as well. Also if playing with randoms, it's best to assume that if you die: it's missions failed.
So that basically sums up the core of my combat strategy. I enjoy a fast and aggressive playstyle. busting through games quick to spam recruit packs for that sweet N7 Ohhhh Yaaaa!
What's your combat strategy and why?
