I have always loved Fereleden...whenever I get poetic or I want to write in the Dragon age universe, I feel like a Ferelden.  I put on my tunic and lambswool, reach down and pet my trusted mabari, and dust the dried mud from my leather boots.  I look out my window and see a grey sky hinting at rain and I smile. I have to get to the tavern soon, and I plan to drink until I am singing. I am Ferelden to the bone!!

Of course, my momma was Rivani...so I, uhumm, have a hidden necklace under my tunic that was blessed by a seer.  But we don't talk too much about that. :P

But I wonder. what about the rest of you?  Are there some Free Marchers out there, who love freedom and independence above all?  Or some Orlesians, who love the game and all its subtleties?  Or perhaps a few Rivanis or Antivans?  Any Qunari?  Tevinters?

So I guess my question is, which place calls to you?  Where would you live? Which flags decorated your hall as the inquisitor?  Where are you and your LI going on vacation?

If you could be anyone in the DA Universe, who would you be?  What is your story?

And let's be nice (please)!! ;)

In my canon run, the hall in Skyhold was decorated with elements from all nations because my girl is nice like that :P But if I had to choose a place, it would be the Free Marches. Independent and "folkloric" (I thing that's the term Josie uses to describe them?), minding their own business unless facing an external attack, they are my kind of people.

I have a long-term fascination with the Qunari, but more in the lore aspect. It would be very difficult for me to get into the mind of a character born and raised under the Qun.

I hail from the Golden Towers of Asariel. Born with skin of a darker hue, I soon found myself to be a bit of a traveler. My greatest adventures were to be had within the sands of Rivain and Antiva, where I sold my magical talents as a mercenary. And in the hot summer weather of Rivain, I met the pirate captain who stole my heart forever.

Ferelden, I think, probably from the Denerim Alienage. Drinking buddies with Shianni until I was recruited by a gang of mercenary irregulars heading to the Freemarches who specialized in sabotage more than direct combat. I came back during the blight and stayed around to support Shianni until I was recruited by one of Leliana's people (without knowing who was pulling the strings) and ended up back in the Freemarches spying. Still there, but visit Denerim whenever I can because I miss the beer, the gruffness, and mabari.

Oooh yes lovely idea!!

Since I love the sea and a warm climate, it would be somewhere on the northern coast, Rivain I think, because I like that the chantry doesn't play that big a role there. Well, and I like traveling, so I wouldn't want to remain in one place really.

So, let's see, I wanna be a raider of the Felicisima Armada! With long and luscious dark locks that are tangled from the sea breeze, a pirate hat and a silly parrot on my shoulder. Maybe an eyepatch, too, but just for the effect. I spend my days sailing the oceans on my trusty ship with my trusty crew, seeking treasures and glory and singing crude songs and drinking rum. Maybe I even get the chance to duel Isabela.

I'll just stop there before I get carried away.

I was a traveler. My father was a Farrier, an Avvar from the Frostbacks who went to Orlais and met my mother. Invited by a Chevalier to travel to Ferelden during the Occupation, my parents remained behind when the Orlesians  left, moving from town to town, caring for horses. The reason we traveled was because I was coming into my magic and they were staying ahead of the Templars while training me to forget that I had magic at all.  We ended up at Arl Howe's keep, the Vigil, and remained there, My parents died there, mother from illness, my father murdered by the Arl. I was a lowly peasant and a purveyor of henbane and leeches, until I happened to heal the Grey Warden from grevious wounds. He is the son of the infamous Arl Howe, Nathaniel, by name. That chance meeting began a great adventure for the two of us. That concluded in the Free Marches.  Despite my checkered history, I count myself Ferelden.
