So, after having played this game for years, I finally decided I'd have a go at learning to create custom content for NWN. Started by playing around with gmax for a bit and got a few placeables working successfully, then thought I'd try Blender. Having found that it can do a fair few things gmax can't (both in terms of modeling and UV mapping), I think I'd prefer to use that given the option.

However, I've run into problems when trying to set up a PWK for a placeable in Blender for export with Neverblender. I don't seem to be able to get it to generate a pwk file when I export the mdl.

As well as the placeable mesh and dummy set up in Blender (which export without issue), I have an empty of the pwk type, which is the parent of my PWK mesh. I have 'export walkmesh' selected when I export the model, but still no pwk file is generated.

However, when I imported a placeable I'd made in gmax (which has a functioning PWK) into blender and exported it, it generated the pwk file without issue (although I had to re-set the mesh to be a child of the PWK dummy after importing into Blender). I'm not sure why this works and the one I tried to generate in Blender does not.

Anyone here with experience in Neverblender know what I might be doing wrong?

have you done this before in gmax?

i will need to look this up again, but i believe you need to create an aabb mesh to make a PWK. i you don't make one you can't export a PWK.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Yes, it seems to work fine when I did it in gmax - I just can't get it to work in Blender.

I tried switching the PWK mesh to an aabb walkmesh as you suggested. Unfortunately, it still doesn't produce a pwk file when I export.

Hi

Try changing the type of the mdl rootdummy to "Character". Neverblender won't search for pwk walkmeshes if the model is classified as item, door, tile or unknown (I should change this or mention it a tutorial). The PWK mesh has to be a trimesh.

The object should be arranged like this:

mdlrootdummy

    trimesh

pwkrootdummy

    trimesh

If it still doesn't work you can upload the file somewhere and I'll have a look. Perhaps it's a bug or something.

Ah, that works perfectly. Switched the classification to 'character' and now when I export the model it creates a pwk alongside the mdl which works in game.

Thanks Asymmetric, and thank you for your work on Neverblender!
