I am wondering if I have run into a very annoying bug in this game. Seems there aren't enough shards for the final door in the temple.

 

I have all of the shards from  The Plains, Oasis, Emprise, Hinterlands, Storm Coast, and the Western Approach.

 

In the Hissing Wastes I have found 4 out of 8 shards.

 

So there are 4 shards left in the game, but to unlock the last door I am 17 shards short.

 

Seems I have lost shards for some reason. Anyone else encountered this bug? Giving the sheer tediousness of this quest, it is rather frustrating.

If you're short 17 and have only found 4 in the Hissing Wastes, is it possible you missed two ocularia in the Wastes and the 13 shards in the Emerald Graves?

The Hissing Wastes only has 8 shards in total, it seems. I haven't missed those though. I am still doing that area.

HW does have 8 shards total, meaning you are really missing 13 shards. It is likely you are missing a few oculara, most likely in Emerald Graves as Ieldra pointed out.

 

Here is the amount of shards in each area (114 total):

Oasis: 15

Hinterlands: 22

Graves: 13

HW: 8

Plains: 16

Coast: 13

Approach: 14

Emprise: 13

I had them all, but it seems it was an issue with a savegame. It hadn't registered shards I had picked up. Something like it has happened before actually. With level-ups. I level up, save the game, and when I reload the next day, I need to level up anew.

 

I got it done now, though. Achievement unlocked.

 

Not my favorite quest.

If I was on the PC, I'd be waiting for something similar to the Skip the Fade mod.

 

Initially, though, I thought it was interwoven with various storylines, origin of the Chards, the Venatori and the making of the skulls, the Tranquils and reversing the process, etc. Maybe they just ran out of time to fully develop it and it was turned into another fetch quest.

HW does have 8 shards total, meaning you are really missing 13 shards. It is likely you are missing a few oculara, most likely in Emerald Graves as Ieldra pointed out.

The Journal obvioulsy doesn't work at it should. Many players never look in there.

Check your journal under 'Collections'. You can see if you have collected all shards on a map.

It says f.x. Hinterlands 17/22. That means you are missing 5 shards of 22 total in this area (and probably one ocularum).

The Temple Of Pride in the Forbidden Oasis
You need 114 shards to complete the quest.
6 shards in order to open the main door. Inside the temple you will need more shards to open the doors to:

The Spirit Calmed
The Cold Endured
The Fire Captured

Every first door takes 6 shards.The second doors takes 12 and the last doors 18 shards. Means you need 36 shards for each element.
The last door on the main floor (frost) opens when you have finished the last room down stairs. No shards needed.

In each room there is a coffin. When you open and loot them completely they give you:

Every first room:: 4 resistance points + 7% Resist Belt

Every second room: 6 resistance points + 15% Resist Belt

Every third room: 10 resistance points + 30% Resist Belt

The coffins also gives you essence, runes and a little coin. Sometimes a power amulet.

If you chose to farm items instead the coffins will not give you any resistance point. It is only when you EMPTY them completely! So, chose carefully what you want

You end up with +20% fire, cold, spirit and electrical resistance when all doors are opened and all coffins looted entirely.
