2nd playthough and I'm a dwarf. Somehow a dwarf leading the armies of Thedas is hystical lol I mean how desparate are they, really?
Why is a dwarven Herald of Andraste, hysterical?

Desperate? How Dare you!
But seriously you're talking about someone from a race of veteran warriors who are respected by the Grey Wardens.

I think Dalish elf is pretty hysterical, myself.

Andraste is a great tactician, dwarves make much smaller targets.
More seriously, plenty of dwarves (especially surfacers) are Andrastian, so it is not that far-fetched.

Dwarves are almost always funny. Even when putting an axe in someone's chest. I like playing them, but never take them seriously. And for some reason, I feel like being serious in this game for a change.

lol
Watching those Carta dwarves in Legacy DLC sprint away from Hawke and the party was priceless. I was like, "Run, midgets! Run!"
Dwarves are typically my "screwball" characters. I RP them to do the stuff that feels a bit too crazy to do otherwise.

Some of the dwarf animations are funny because of the height difference, though.

It didn't end well for Burkel, though.

I don't think it's funnier than any other random nobody "oops I thought this was the bathroom, sorry for interrupting your ritualistic sacrifice" Inquisitor regardless of race.

This game does have a general problem of randomness, I'll give you that.

I think it all depends on how you roleplay. My Dwarf hated her life with the Carta and was a closet Andrastian. So it was pretty easy to embrace the role of Herald. Needless to say Leliana's vision of the Chantry was a path she could get behind.

Why shouldn't a dwarf be leader of the Inquisition and also become divine?
Do I sense some kind of race discrimination here?

Yes.
I never know when people are joking about this subject. ![]()
I'm a real minority myself, but god forbid me taking fantasy games this seriously. I don't know what it is about Dragon Age, but I never felt the pressure in D&D and Warhammer.

You're right.
But I never joke about this. Not even remote. Nobody is less important than others. And I don't care what the arguments might be.

I'm on my third PT, playing a dwarf for the first time, and yes, some cutscenes look really funny (I'm tempted to do the Josephine romance just to see the scene when she jumps to the inquisitor's arms). But then again, I gave my female dwarf a bit of a beard, that might not be helping.

It's not about importance. I just like factions to be distinct. I don't want humans ruling dwarven kingdoms either.
And I like the difference between male divines in Tevinter and female in the South.
It just makes for a richer world to have conflict in. It bores me to have equality and sameness and inclusion everywhere. That's a noble goal, but no fun for setting up any interesting lore.

Maybe it's because you can't use magic or enter the Fade when you dream, so the fact you have a green magic marker on your hand and somehow walked out of the Fade, seems downright nutty to the rest of the world?

I like to be able to travel to different places of Earth.
What's the fun in it if everything is just like home?
The way they try to homogenise everything these days are enerving.
I remember the science fiction we watched as kids. Worlds where everyone had his place. Everyne looked like each other. Even the food they eat was identical.
'Soylent green' perhaps? Brave new world?
A globalised world? I'm so happy I don't live fifty years more.

Yeah.. homogenized.. That's the word I was looking for.
I want unity despite diversity. Not unity without diversity.

Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations...
I'd say that the Vulcans in Star Trek have that philosophy licked, except that ever since Enterprise and the reboot, the Vulcans have sadly tended to come across as the being the most intolerant and bigoted people in the Trek franchise? ![]()
The Inquisition accepting people from all walks of life seems to be a lot better in that regard, I just wish we'd explored that aspect more in the game itself? You see all these interesting characters wandering around Skyhold and Haven, yet we're never allowed to really embrace that multicultural feel that we should be getting?
