Right.

Remasters don't make major story changes. They primarily just get a visual and performance upgrade for the newer hardware and maybe get some long standing bugs fixed. I think anyone hoping for a remaster that changes ME3's endings is setting themselves up for disappointment.

Wrong, take Metro Redux they changed the gameplay, the HUD, graphics, framerate etc even added some new levels to the game.

BTW in my opinion it could be Resident Evil 0.

I'll also echo the Uncharted Collection Remastered.  Sony needs to fill the vacuum that Uncharted 4 just created this holiday season.

Forget that if Sony does anything with one of their "most beloved franchises" they need to give the Jak & Daxter fans some love. No new game since the HD collection and then that left out Jak X Combat Racing and J&D The Lost Frontier(which was released on PS2 well into the PS3 era).

From what I understand the only reason why those changes happened is because those were the features from Last Light so they copied them into 2033 when switching to the engine that Last Light used. Its just like with The Last of Us when they upgraded the in game graphics to use the assets they used for the cinematic portions into the other areas of the game.

If there is a release of the current Mass Effect games to the new consoles I fully expect very little changes to the game aside from incorporating the patches they already released in the game and maybe a few tweaks unless its just modifying variable settings.

They can do exactly the same thing and adapt ME1 and ME2 to ME3.

How do you mean adapt? Change the gameplay?

Do you know how much work that would take?

I hear you.  When I think of a game being remastered, I think of cleaned and updated graphics with bugs from the original fixeed.  If the ME series is going to be remastered, I doubt they'll change ME1's combat to be more in line with the rest of the series.  It's far too much work.  The combat is rather clunky in ME1, but it's not horrible.  It's also easy to beat the game in about 20 hours if you skip most of the sidequests.  In other words, the player doesn't even have to fight a ton in ME1 if they so choose, to get most of their preferred choices imported into ME2.

First I am not sure how much they need to change to make ME2 more like ME3 for to me both games are nearly identical aside from the combat changes and I think some of those combat changes such as the combat rolls would require making sure the environments would support it.  Now with ME1 making and fundamental changes to that game to me would be a mistake for I don't want to have the skill system, the gear setup, or the chance of exploration going away to make it more like the two sequels.  To me the conversion of ME1 would be too much work for I would expect it to be a major operation to complete.

I am pretty sure you can do it in less in maybe two to three hours if you just do Eden Prime > Noveria/Feros/Virmire > Ilos.  Its been awhile so my memory could be off.

ME1 needs some tweaks, it's getting unplayable for me.

I'm not expecting anything major tho.

Playing the ME trilogy regulary, ME1 feels very outdated.  I feel mixed by the possably "remaking" of the trilogy.  Sprucing up the visuals is not enough because I do that right now and just the same game but only to be able to play uninterupted in one go simply doesn't justify paying for it again.  So their must be a special incentive to make me buy it again and making ME1 and 2 gameplay wise like 3 would do that (too costly or not).  Not interested in same rehash with a little better visuals.

I suppose it will be made soley for a public that wants to play it again on their new console and thats a good thing in my opinion, I would be sad not being able to play my favorite game due to change of console.

Even putting aside the cost, how would they make ME1 play like ME3? They're designed completely differently. ME1's entire combat system is built around the stuff that isn't in the later games, not to mention all the non-story stuff. I feel like people who ask this haven't stopped to think about how much work it would involve.

Would it mean getting rid of skills, putting in ammo packs, putting in ME3-style grenades, adjusting all the enemy types and encounters for new weapons and powers, getting rid of heavy weapons in ME2, changing the entire weapon upgrade system to ME3's simplified model, changing armour, changing powers.... and then trying to balance everything?

Then how would they deal with the story and non-combat stuff that relies on skills and features that weren't in ME3, like decryption/electronics and the anti-Thorian grenades on Feros? How would they make quest rewards work if there are no more weapons or upgrades? What would all the Citadel shops sell? What use are credits? What would they put in all the boxes/crates/upgrade packs around the levels and on uncharted worlds?

Ehh, too many other remasters for me to expect it is ME trilogy.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is Metal Gear Solid, since Sony pulled the old MGS off their PS Now service a few months ago.

The quickest I was able to finish ME1, was about 3 hours 31 minutes.

Good grief!  Did you even find all of the keepers on that run?  I've run ME1 as a completionist - I found and did every quest, every mineral - all of it, with both DLCs.  I think on that run I might have spent 3:31 in the elevators....

If you can name a way to play the ME series, chances are that mike has done it at least once.  :P

I've done a complete playthrough and don't recall how long it took.

In that speed run, I didn't to anything except the main story. I avoided fighting any enemy I didn't have to fight whether it was by running past them or driving by them. Skipped a lot of dialogue by not talking with anyone.

That's cool. I'm a fan of the Uncharted games.

Maybe Bioware will announce a remastered trilogy at E3?

Too bad it wasn't ME Trilogy. Guess there's still hoping it will be announced anyway. Gotta say that Uncharted Collection cover is gorgeous and of course the whole thing is perfectly timed before Uncharter 4 release, just as EA should do with Mass Effect. Score for Sony

I just got a new gaming rig with Windows 8.1  It doesn't want to run ME1 at all.  So now a remaster actually looks like it might be a good thing.  I'd even put ME3 on my machine again just so I could do MP when I get that itch.

Imagine if Bioware themselves handled the remaster trilogy somehow. Dunno if that would be possible, but they could add tweaks and changes... perhaps fix some broken necks and disaligned eye gazes in the games, especially Mass Effect 3.

Maybe they'll shut this guy up in the remaster:

One of many bugs in that game, too. Here's hoping the collection will bang out the digital dents in all three games.

The console version of ME1 also had atrocious technical problems so it will be nice for console gamers to get a much smoother experience.
