Apologies if this has been covered before (I'm getting the feeling it has) I simply am curious to see if anyone was disappointed too. I wouldn't have minded Sera, but... Well...

It's not so much that the topic is a bit repetitive, though we have seen plenty of posts on the subject. It's more that the anti-Cassie and-Josie position has been so thoroughly discredited by posters who came before you, mostly through preposterously entitled rants about how the game discriminates against straight males.

So roll a female Inquisitor. I think Cassandra is great and I've love to romance her, so I'll be rolling a male Inquisitor for her and another for Dorian.

Yes other people feel the same way.

No you won't find much sympathy for your feeling.

I feel for the OP, he just wanted to discuss his opinion, but we all know how this thread is going to end, in an argument.

Frankly I don't understand what people are complaining about in terms of DA:I LIs - In DA:O, I only found Morrigan & Leliana interesting. In DA2 it was Isabela all the way for me, but in DA:I, Josephine, Sera, Iron Bull, Cass and Dorian all interesting me and I can't wait to romance each one.

For me DA:I has had the most choice in terms of LIs.

(to phantomrachie) I feel for the OP too but it'll be some time before the topic can be discussed again without stirring up things in the way wrong. It is still too closely associated with anti-Cassandra or anti-Josephine as well as the whole deal about women needing to look a certain way to be seen as women.

People are annoyed that they have to post on this topic yet again. I'm late to the DAI party and so haven't gotten involved in the first post of this subject, so have started my own. This IS a forum where people can share their views and opinions, if you don't want to get involved on another post of this sort, then don't. There isn't a disclaimer saying 'Members must respond to every post' when you sign up for membership. Just ignore it. Its not hurting you. Honestly, does a newcomer to the forum have to trudge back through past topics just so they don't inconvenience those who have already put the subject to rights elsewhere?

The problem is however, that even doing a cursory search, or better yet clicking to page 2 would more than likely have revealed that there are in fact others who feel this way. Now it depends on why you don't like the Cassandra or Josephine romances, but if the reasoning is, as assumed, because of their physical attributes, then all that's going to happen is this thread will eventually devolve into a heated argument with one side claiming that Cassandra and Josephine look masculine and unattractive, and the developers should make every straight male love interest look like Leliana or Morrigan while the other side will point out that it's great that there are differing physical types for women and loving that not every one is a supermodel off the cover of Vogue magazine.

Then the gifs will come, words will be said and the mods will eventually close it. Eventually another new soul will invariably post the same thing and the cycle begins anew.

As a human male, there isnt anyone I really want my character to pursue. The appeal in DAO and DA2 just ain't there. I mean, Josephine seems quite nice, but let's face it, she's no Morrigan...

Anyone else agree?

I don't agree. If no woman in the game meets your expectations/interests, don't romance any of them. Just like in real life.

Edit: sorry if that sounds too blunt. I'd like to know how you would adress this issue, were you a game designer or a writer in the DA team.

It's a bit unfair on this fellow though to tar him with the same brush (not you personally) since he never said anything of the sort. Saying, "Neither of these romance options is my cup of tea, I preferred a character more like Morrigan/Isabella/whoever. Is there any chance we could have a romance more like that in future?" is an entirely valid position, and one that I would support; although personally I don't much care either way.

Romance preferences are a pretty subjective personal thing. For me, Cassandra was the only remotely interesting romance in the game. I liked all the romances in DAO, and liked all but Anders in DA2, but the ones in DAI are completely uninteresting to me. It's just a matter of personal taste.

(to Darkly Tranquil) I agree that there is nothing wrong with the request when it is like that and I think that was what the OP intended. I just do not think it is possible to discuss it yet. Request, sure, but not discuss it quite yet.

I completely agree, but that is why I don't understand when people complain. Romances are 100% down to personal taste, so if you don't find anyone you want to romance in a game, that is cool but there is choice there, with all the LIs in DA:I there is a high chance that most people will find at least one person that they will like.

It's not like in other games were there is only 1 choice and the game rail roads you into that, for example as sweet as Tidus and Yuna's romance in FFX is, Lulu was my first video game crush and I desperately wanted to be able to romance her.

There are people that played through both DA:O & DA2 without romancing anyone because they weren't interested in them and there wasn't a thread like this every other week talking about how bad the romances were.

Can't speak for Cassandra's romance since I haven't done it but so far for me at least I've greatly enjoyed all the romances I've done (aside from Cullen and Solas especially Solas) Even though I haven't actually finished it yet I greatly adore Josephine's romance since it can get very heavy with the cheese which is something I personally love. Though I suppose if you are into more the 'harsher' or 'darker' characters like Morrigan I really can't think of any of the romances that really fit that kind of mold in DAI.

I still love her   Everything about her was great, her personality, her style, the fact that her physical attack was with a Mog.

When I got the HD remaster of FFX to play it for the first time in like 14 years, I thought that I might not like her as much, since I was 16 when I first played it, but she was just as awesome.

Fell in love with her all over again.

She is probably the root of my crushes on both Morrigan, Cassandra & Miranda Lawson.

*sigh* it's a pity I've never been able to romance characters like them as a female protagonist, I always need to roll a man.

To be frank I agree with op. Didn´t like the game much generally either so the bad LI´s fit into it, kind of. (IMO)

I think the issue is that the previous games have created an expectation of what the romances will tend to be like in DA games, and DAI shakes that up a bit, and some people are a bit put out by the change, and so genuinely feel left out. The other problem is that not everyone is able to articulate their frustrations in a way that does not come across as confrontational to others. Issues of appearance, sexuality, gender identity, and so forth are fairly front and centre issues around here, but there are some just looking for an opportunity to take offence over some poorly chosen words, even if the intent behind them might be harmless. This is not to say that there haven't been plenty of genuinely obnoxious posts, but I think it's wrong to just bury anyone who would like a "conventionally attractive" female romance option and has the audacity to ask for it, so long as they ask in a courteous and respectful way.

Honestly, I often think the entire romance thing is more trouble than it's worth and Bioware could save themselves a ton of headaches and drama by ditching them altogether and just leave romance in the realm of fan fiction.

Hi OP, ignore the people who are freaking out about this a bit. :)

The problem isn't that this has been discussed before, it's just that in the past the majority of the people who have been posting about this subject have acted like a bunch of entitled asses. They usually complain that Bioware is spiting them on purpose by making better love interests for women, and that Cassandra is actually a man, and no one other than the straight male gamer should have content geared towards them, and that it's some sort of social justice warrior conspiracy, and a whole bunch of even more ridiculous arguments. So when people see the topic pop up again, they get a little on edge even if you haven't said anything like that.

Personally, I'd agree the romances for a straight male aren't very interesting. But then the only one I find interesting is Solas. And the only other Bioware character (been playing since Baldur's Gate) I'd find interesting to romance is Garrus.  So as you can see, I'm just really fussy, and might not be the best judge!

Yeh I was pretty disappointed.  I know that others will disagree but that's what makes it a forum--everyone gets to and shouldn't be told what their opinion is.

As a female romancing males I think the Iron Bull neither acts like a Qunari that we've been accustomed to, nor does he look that good to me.  Not only is he scarred and missing an eye but his head is disproportionate to his huge body and man-boobs.  Solas looks like Nosferatu (again my opinion) and Cullen's romance is really sparse.

As far as romancing women go a a female who hates other elves (I usually play an elf) and who (I think) looks to young to have a sexual relationship with.  They make her look like she's 13 or 14 tops.  Josephine grows on you but she looks nothing like the early drawings for the game that I saw but then I guess that's because the Bioware team hates to code hair.

I like the way Blackwall looks (beard) but at the same time his hotness diminished because, once again, I have to deal with

Spoiler

I'd get a male character to play Dorian but since Dorian's been my homeboy for awhile I really can't see him romantically anymore.  He's friendzoned for me.

At the same time I say "Fair play" that gay men get the most interesting and best looking character this go around because I got Alastair in DA:O who while not as "interesting" was extremely funny, and Isabella in DA:2 who was a sultry pirate wench.

Woah is this thread extremely rude!  You know, not everyone frickin lives on this forum with a million and a half posts.  Some people play the game instead.  People are allowed to be new and have an opinion you have heard a million times over.  Also, in complete and total irony, the people telling him to get over it, play someone else, blah and blahhabity blah can also "get over it" and choose a different thread to post in.

I don't see anyone cracking a whip to make people post on this one.

Newbies are also game players, they are also people who spent money on the game, and they are allowed to have opinions you may have heard a million times over and no they are not required to do a search before posting.

For Bull, it comes from his conflict with himself and the Qun. He was raised in it, and believes in it, but was never a fit with it. If you

OMIGOD YAASSSSSS.  Hotness.  I also liked the earrings and the gray skin--why is IB peach colored????

I liked Bull but he could have been anyone: a dwarf, elf, etc with that personality. I would have so totally dug walking around with someone like the Arishok or Sten again.
