I just wanted to say thank you for the latest patch. My game is finally playable.

When I started playing back in November I quickly noticed that my otherwise very enjoyable journeys were constantly disturbed by bouts of boring blather from my team. I found this very rude way of forcing oneself on me really irritating. I mean seriously, who asked you?? I couldn't even tell them to shut it!

Party banter is one of my biggest gripes with Inquisition's two predecessors, and I am tremendously glad to find that Bioware has finally seen the error of their ways and removed it.
The prior patches did tone down the amount of annoying background babbling as there were only very occasional interruptions, but since patch five, nothing! Nothing but blissful silence. I so enjoy exploring the wilderness now.

.

LOL...

I hardly think that was intended by Bioware.

I am guessing you are being sarcastic.  If not, I would just like to inform you that Patch 6 will most likely bring back the "dreaded" party banter making your game once-again unplayable...Party Banter FTW!

Hey, I like party banter. In fact it would be nice if they added every once in a while small mini patches that...add new party banter to the game. You know so that your companions don't start repeating themselves or run out of stuff to say to one another.

They never repeat themselves, they just run out of stuff to say in that party composition and then remain silent. Or you know, they might remain silent for almost your whole game if you're unlucky... :) They won't ever add patches with that amount of content (VO costs money and we are dealing with EA here), but there will probably be some new banter in DLCs. Though I would prefer if they first fixed the current banter before adding more, which will otherwise be useless for many players, since they won't even hear it in their game.

In theory that would of course be very nice, but they still haven't managed to fix the banter bug. .....

So am I. (DAI and the way BW is handling the post-launch care has made me cynical and skeptical when it comes to AAA video games.)

Its funny you know i had exactly the same opinion, the banter was pretty unneeded and just annoyed me most of the game, sadly OP i'd say we are a minority.. I hope your silence is not a bug and continues for you blissfully.

Ah not serious then please disregard, i am how ever..

I'm lucky in that I only had to suffer through maybe 15 banters in 130 hours. Luckily some of the companions like Vivienne, Dorian, Blackwall or Sera wont talk to anyone at all so if you take the correct party you wont have to worry about it.

I would say the incorrect party is Sera and Vivienne, i only made that mistake once <_<

I also noticed they very seldom had something funny to say or even pleasant or nice, it was mostly depressing, nasty or as above really spiteful, throwing insults at each other and belittling them, i'm kinda shocked people enjoyed that dramas all through their games..

Did they talk to each other? Mine never did. Vivienne was usually a staple in my party and the only one she ever said a word to was Iron Bull.

Vivienne has some banter with Varric where they're talking about someone Varric knows. I don't recall the specifics but I do remember Vivienne asking Varric if this person was still on his "Christmas list." Whoops.

In my game Varric was apparently writing a series of books about Vivienne a she kept asking what type of character is she gonna be :)

With Cass she talked, I believe, about Cass being a noble and how she could dress and behave in a more appropriate way to fit into court :)

It was a really enjoyable banter, I loved it. But then all of a sudden, nothing. I don't know if I depleted the banter, but when I switched companions completely, they were silent as well.

EDIT: Oops, this should have been a reply to Nefla's post about the Viv banter, but it is now impossible for me to switch the quotes on my phone without retyping everything or fiddling with it for like 10 mins.

Yeah they do talk

Sera: Hey Viv! Vivvy! Look at this! I got something for you!

Vivienne: Darling, it's your bottom. Again. As bony and sad as it was the last dozen times you displayed it.

Sera: It's my butt!

Vivienne: Maker, however shall I endure this horror? Someone fetch me a fainting couch.

I listened to a lot of the banter online but sadly almost none of it fired in the actual game >.<
