I listened to a lot of the banter online but sadly almost none of it fired in the actual game >.<

That sucks. :(

I just realized something, because of that quote .... fainting couch <--- this is what Viv keeps at the balcony at Skyhold.

They never repeat themselves, they just run out of stuff to say in that party composition and then remain silent. Or you know, they might remain silent for almost your whole game if you're unlucky... :) They won't ever add patches with that amount of content (VO costs money and we are dealing with EA here), but there will probably be some new banter in DLCs. Though I would prefer if they first fixed the current banter before adding more, which will otherwise be useless for many players, since they won't even hear it in their game.

I've heard a couple repeats actually.

I had the opposite of the banter bug. My party never shut up and repeated the same lines over and over again. Every few minutes. I hope that's gone now but since I have no reason to play DA:I again after completing it once, I don't know if the patches changed anything.

Bizarrely, I had party banter between the Iron Bull and Solas trigger twice in a row just after I killed a dragon. I became certain that the dragons were hogging all the dialogue and so went on genocidal killing spree in an attempt tp reclaim it. No dice, unfortunatley.

I just wanted to say thank you for the latest patch. My game is finally playable.

When I started playing back in November I quickly noticed that my otherwise very enjoyable journeys were constantly disturbed by bouts of boring blather from my team. I found this very rude way of forcing oneself on me really irritating. I mean seriously, who asked you?? I couldn't even tell them to shut it!

Party banter is one of my biggest gripes with Inquisition's two predecessors, and I am tremendously glad to find that Bioware has finally seen the error of their ways and removed it.
The prior patches did tone down the amount of annoying background babbling as there were only very occasional interruptions, but since patch five, nothing! Nothing but blissful silence. I so enjoy exploring the wilderness now.

I absolutely agree. I personally think they should also remove all unnecessary companion chatter in Haven and in Skyhold. Familiarity brings contempt, as they say. Knowing your companions has always been the weakness in Dragon Age games. It is also far more easier to choose which character to sacrifice in multiple such choices during Dragon Age Inquisition, when you do not have such things as affection ruining it for you. I myself am a person, who cannot make decisions if I have more than one option, or make decisions that require reading more than one line (particularly without hyphens), or remembering the names of your companions. I suggest these will be removed too to accommodate more smoother gameplay. Personally I would want to revert to Skyrim- type marriages, where by wearing a necklace you can marry a person you like the best, without such things as familiarity or discussion clouding your judgement. Or I would be satisfied with interaction like that in Fable, such as farting and whistling, to ascertain these are indeed the people I want to save the world with. Away with you banter!

I also am incredibly content that no such chatter has been heard in my game since patch 5. The fact that your companions disrupt your varying thoughts when walking around in a landscape that is amazingly vast, and you do not want to disturb your silence with mounting a horse due to galloping sounds, is so annoying design feature. Silence is golden as they say.

I currently have 2 playthroughs on the go, yeah I'm a glutton for punishment, but I wanted to try a different class (and race) just for giggles.

Interestingly, one of them has no seeming problem with banter firing but the other does.  The one with the banter problem has a lot of music in the wilderness whilst the one with good banter is significantly more .... music less.
