Self awareness is that guy who keeps dragging your name through the mud over every wrong thing you've ever done.
Whenever I want to think of something else, self awareness comes to yank me back. As if 24 hours a day, 7 days a week wasn't good enough.
I'd punch self awareness, but I'd be punching myself. Believe it or not I actually like myself in spite of the flaws.

You know why you always think of others' flaws? Because you're telling yourself you shouldn't do that.
Here's an interesting quote from Inception:
"Arthur: I say: don't think about elephants. What are you thinking about?"
"Saito: Elephants."
Society's stereotype of what you should be is increasingly tightening. Which is a threat to individuality and free thinking. And has some severe side-effects.
Told ya don't get me started. ![]()

I suppose in some ways it is. However Alan Turning would have loved to live in a day and age where being a homosexual was legal.

Yes. He suffered a great deal because of the same societal principle I am speaking of. Just be yourself, Try to be comfortable in your skin, Not in what others tell you to be.

internet insults? Really? Most people in the world are jackasses who deserve whatever insults they get anyway.
Here's my suggestion, don't bother. Being a good person is mostly about maintaining an illusion, nothing more. It's pointless on the internet. Of course I've got to question why the hell you'd use your real name on Youtube or elsewhere.
I think it's important to ask why that is. Peoples' etiquette on this terrible construct we call the internet follows this mindset to a tee for whatever reason. I'm not saying go out of your way to smile and wave at people for no reason but do we have to metaphorically go around punching people in the face for no reason? That's liable to get you f*cked up in real life and I never understood the thrill of doing it on the internet just because someone can't beat your face in.

Society has made life miserable for people.
Then again society is constructed by the people.
The people who make others live in pain and suffering are us.
I'm not sure I'm comfortable being part of the problem.

I have a theory about this whole societal paradoxes problem. But i hold on to it for the meantime.

Abe, just be yourself and forgive others from time to time. Stand up for what you know is right and don't be afraid to be vulnerable. Show compassion, moral reasoning, and let your heart guide the way. When you know, you'll know. ![]()

You don't need to force yourself to be a "good person". Just think before you talk or act. You won't always get along or agree with people. The idea is to understand and accept that their opinion and feelings will be different from yours.
It doesn't sound like your moral sense is out of check in my opinion, just a lack of self-control. And I also couldn't help but notice you were speaking in the past tense. If you were younger then, then it's totally normal. We all get a little too arrogant for our own good every now and then, especially when it comes to the internet.

The problem with living comfortable in Turing's case, is when the rules that society has start to affect you physically and mentally. Alan Turing was given medicine to try and "cure his gay conditions. " It reached a point where suicide was the only option for him.
Happy to see Alan is becoming more mainstream

Yes, Unfortunately. He really suffered a great deal from the same people he worked very hard to protect.
