OP you may need to learn some new tricks with your Slayer, as awesome as he is against mooks as you rightly say, he shines even brighter against slower bosses such as Scions, Brutes, Ravagers & Atlases. BC in, they'll start into their slow melee or grab animations as you teleport back and blast with Phase Disruptor, they stagger and then begin to shoot, at which point you BC back in switching them to try melee again. You effectively completely shut them down and your PD shots destroy their armour.

Phantoms, Banshees and those cheating floating crabs are trickier, especially the latter two (Phantoms can be nullified more easily by charging into them with a charged Acolyte pellet), but they're the only bosses that aren't Primes that aren't a breeze for him. In fact he's far more often downed by troop crossfire for me.

As for which characters we like the best it's asked every few weeks on here, so you're lucky to have got as many sane answers as you've got so far.

I do agree that the Asari Huntress and Valkyrie make great forgiving platinum characters though.

I've played the Slayer around a dozen times in total I think, as he's by far the most host-dependent kit in the game, on Gold anyway, and I host very rarely.  I haven't got a clue how to play him tbh, but on-host I can see that he's monstrously powerful.

Melee-specced Krogan Sentinel with Claymore cannot be outdone as the ultimate stress-buster.

BatSol with pretty much any weapon (Raider, Wraith, Talon, Harrier to name a few) for sheer swagger and stagger.

Third choice is harder - Human Engineer is a real favourite, Justicar is glorious in a Biotic team, TSent is Mr Reliable, SI or FQI for sniping etc etc - the list goes on for some time.  It's easier for me to list my 3 least favourite characters - Talon Merc, Krogan Warlord, Turian Saboteur.

I'd comment on how wrong OP is but he'll find out once he gets a few more hours under his belt.

A few more? :)

I know that I should take more notice of the other players (and their ammonition)

in a PUG and pick the right character which synergizes well.

However, with certain characters I am so "familiar" (don't want to say: good) that I can easily play in every group.

This should not sound arrogant - because it is the truth and I'll admit that with other characters I would probably totally suck.

Regarding the Valkyrie:

I would rather say that she is more about "being on the right map" than being in the right group.

Because: She primes her own explosions and she primes them CONSTANTLY (with annihilation field, it doesn't matter

if your teammates are "trying" to prime the enemy for a tec/fire/cryo burst... they won't succeed ;-)

But if you are on a wide and open map - however - it is more difficult with her.

Now I've learned when to go in the open and attack a group of enemies and when to better wait.

But it is definitely harder (or should I say slower?) on such maps than it is on Glacier.

Oh I forgot to say:

Valkyrie

Drell Infiltrator

Or, for a 100% extraction...: EDI + TGI

That is some interesting advice, thank you. and now that you mention it, my valkyrie DOES get mowed down easier on giant

I seem to have the most trouble with ravagers.... the swarmers and the poison give me mutually assured destruction. I am glad the community is still active and BTW everybody, i joined the forum last night.... Therefore, some acronyms I need to learn...

Asari Huntress Infiltrator: ...and one that is as squishy as moon sand.

N7 Slayer Vanguard: HOWEVER, his uses are rather limited... Fighting reapers really limits him to the most minor of enemies (husks, cannibals, and marauders) with any significant efficiency... Fighting collectors pretty much puts him only in a position to fight captains...

1. asari huntress isn't any more squishy than any human/asari kits. If you find yourself dying a lot, consider putting more points into fitness. Go to lv5 if need be, since infiltrator TC's stop shield regen. (I find 3 points in fitness sufficient) Another thing: TC bypasses recharge so you don't have to keep cdr high like other biotics. Put a heavy weapon on her and have fun.

2. well... contrary to what you said, Slayer is very good against armor targets. just spam phase disruptor before charging into a mook to recharge barrier, and do it all again. Your problem with bosses might be sync-kills, I think. In that case, simply don't charge them unless they are distracted or about to die.

As for my favorite characters, my top 5 are:

Drell infiltrator

Drell adept

Drell vanguard

N7 shadow

Quarian male engineer

in that order. (have to put 5 to not seem xenophobic ;) )

Three favorite?  That's hard, because my favorite thing about this game is playing so many different classes.  Probably:

Human Adept:  I just love all the explosions

Human Engineer:  Uh.... I just love all the explosions (might be a pattern here)

Batarian Soldier:  games just seem to go more smoothly with him

In case you're interested. Use a talon with disruptor IV. Attack routine is as follows:

1- find the biggest clusterfuck of enemies on the map and charge head on into it. Skip this if charge synergy is already on, your shields are full and you're already close enough to the clusterfuck.

2- find the biggest, slowest moving target in the clusterfuck and shoot it once. Yes. Even if it's a boss.

3- PD once either the big enemy or the ground at the center of the clusterfuck.

4- repeat 2-3 until either everything but bosses is dead, in which case return to 1, or you're shieldgated, in which case go to 5.

5- if you're shieldgated (whether by enemies or by PD). If charge is off cooldown, charge away and return to 1. If it's on cooldown, quickly assess the situation and understand if you can dodge to safety. If you can, do it, then dodge back, charge and go to 1. If you can't, use an ops pack and keep spamming talon and PD alternated like a bawss.

That's pretty much all there is to it, really.

With huntress, I have her set for nothing but artillery.... Multiple banshees and praetorians no longer need to be rocketed... I've learned to manage the squish of this character the most and the squishiness helps me manage situations better.

For the slayer, IF I find a place to hide and disruptor, it is not a problem, but I use him mainly on glacier too so I have not mastered those arts.... Also, I never seemed to have mastered the dodges...... might be difficult for a lefty with a non WASD layout.

well - Giant ist still pretty much viable. Not like Glacier, though.

But Condor, Hydra, London, etc. are (let's say) less fun with her.

Because her Explosions have the additional radius (unlike the Fury) you can run into
a larger group of enemies, set off the explosion and with it stagger the rest.

Pick the target that has shields so you can consume it.
Pick always the Pyros first...

If you run with a charged acolyte, you can attack a group of pyros (e.g.) with ease
because the shot removes the shield and the following explosion will wipe the pyro completely,
leaving the others stunned.
If you are on Platinum, make sure to have the 15% damage bonus of the Annih. Field (!)
because it applies to the xplosions as well and helps wipe certain enemies like Pyros with just 1 attack.
If you charge a Phantom on Platinum, you might still need a Pistol Rail Amp, in order to
remove its Barriers completely. Depends on how you have specced her.
I always go completely for Weapon Damage because the Explosions won't be affected
anyways.

you are not supposed to spam dodge... to me its main use is to go through walls and to back off after charging brutes. just strafe and if someone dares shoot you, kill them. B)

You really don't need to dodge with him. Whoever that enters your LoS dies.

I can't just pick three.  There are about a dozen characters that I like to play, depending on my mood and the supplies the ****ing RNG store has decided to give me.  Part of the fun of this game is that you have a wide choice of characters, mechanics and guns that are really different from each other.  Why just choose 3?

Yeah as long as you choose the proper evolutions the radius should be the same.
