I use him early game to replace Jacob before I get Mordin/ Garrus. Other than that yea, funny character but mostly one dimensional. Has some good dialogue with Garrus, though.

Lets be honest though, you pick him because you want to hear him say 'Goddamn' all day with his SUPER COOL VOICE. Plus his special ability, inferno grenade, was really useful.

Oh yeah, I generally run that as bonus power on soldiers. Zaeed's fun to bring to Haestrom, too. One shots basic toasters and having him, Garrus and Reegar all together is more badass and manly than eating a steak made of bullets and seasoned with napalm.

I took Zaeed every time I wanted to use Squad Disruptor Ammo (i.e., any Geth missions).

Wow. I just grab Zaeed and Kasumi ASAP, go get garrus, then use garrus and zaeed/kasumi until I get Tali, then team dextro till game finish.

Ok look, I said that she has a good side. I didn't define what the good side was. The "good side" is for each person to decide individually. If you don't like Miranda, that's fine. But I'd rather take someone with me on a mission that has a shitty personality than someone who's actually more useless than play-doh.

Well ok. That's a bit hostile but whatever. Never said "yo nobody is allowed to like this character because I don't" and I honestly can't decide who is the lesser evil between Miranda and Jacob (which I always found weird that those two were quite easily fit the 'worst characters' bill while being the first two squad mates).

What like in the game? Yeah, I'm pretty sure everybody on ship is more powerful than Jacob. Even his non-combat role (he is kinda-sorta the quartermaster) could be fulfilled by other people just as well if not better (Garrus, Tali and Legion are the most obvious choices).
Quarian squadmate is a permanent fixture in my games from the earliest possible moment you can get her because of the bullshit that I can't recruit/ kidnap Reegar. The other one depends. In ME2's case, it is turian squadmate about half the time with a roughly even split between Mordin/ Legion the rest. Only play the Combat/tech classes so don't really use biotic squadmates.
I don't actively dislike any of the others but I don't find any of them as interesting as most of the ME1 squad or Javik the space troll.
As for Cerberus Cheerleader, she's useful early game with an infiltrator due to the passive squad weapon damage bonus being necessary to one shot some units with the Mantis. I used to hate her too, but then I bought her some armor and realized that I really just hated being bludgeoned with bitchyness and gratuitous ass shots as if I were a 12 year old boy who actually finds that cool and not hilariously tacky.
Jacob is lol. Never comes off the ship unless I need some renegade points from his mission. Also, moar spandex ass shots.

If you want squad incendiary why would you ever take Jacob when Grunt exists with his Claymoar?

The only squadmate who is arguably worse is Jack, but she has Warp Ammo, which is much better.
Incendiary ammo is mostly irrelevant because Grunt has it, and Grunt >>>>>>> Jacob.
