Of all the fuckups any of the races did in the whole ME trilogy, no one fucked up as badly as the Asari. No one. When they intentionally withheld information about the Prothean beacon's existence on Thessia, they doomed billions of people to death in the Reaper war. The war could have been won before it even truly started, if only the Asari had shared this knowledge.
The fuckups of the Salarians and Quarians don't even come close.

I'd think that would be more down to the palms, of which ours aren't significantly different from humans. Surface area difference is negligable due to our fingers being larger.
