I couldn't handle not getting a stable framerate with this game (with MSAA) and so I gave in and upgraded to SLI 970s, if this doesn't work I'm going to actually lose it. And just know Bioware, my insanity would be from your hands!

Does the game even have proper SLI support?

Because now would be hilarious if it didn't  B)

Why would you buy 970s now knowing the memory issue exists?

So glad I spent the extra dosh for a 980.

Same. I don't get amazing fps, 48 or so, but my cpu is way underpowered and I have everything on ultra/fade touched.

980gtx all the way.

Console master race?

This game just sounds like it has too many problems on PC to be worth playing it on it. Glad I purchased it for the PS4 instead.

The PC offers more, but it was never easier.

interesting this, as normally I regret the fact I've kind of ended up with AMD cards for a while now (basically down to them being priced more keenly here in the UK), but having got no further with DAI than seemingly endless mucking about with graphical settings / tweaks I have to say, on my system at least, I'm glad I've got the Mantle option.

It's clearly smoother, at equivalent fps's, compared to DX11.

I run a R9 290 OC, and now, with tesselation 'off' (I'm a graphics ... 'nut', and I can't tell the flipping difference at all) and not using that awful, blurring, post-processing AA, but with 4 x MSAA, I've not yet seen my rates drop beneath 60.

Of course, I have lots of other issues with the game  :P , but graphics-wise it's running smoothly (apart from .. cut-scenes  )

Unless you play at 4k resolution it's not a problem. I have one 970 and DAI works like a dream. At 1080p it'll never need that extra 500Mb. I'm still annoyed with nVidia, as my card isn't as future proof as I'd hoped, but it's not affecting my current gaming. Have to say that I think one 980 would have been a better bet than SLI 970's. Still not convinced that SLI or Crossfire are worth it. When they work, brilliant, but there are so many games that get issues.

This. I wonder how many of the people raging about this actually ran into any issue where they could have separated a 970 from a 980. That's not to say people shouldn't get what was specified, of course - but still.

I already had a 970 so thought I'd just buy another instead of buying 2 different ones.

I'm planning on playing in 1080p so HOPEFULLY I don't run into any issues.

I also knew about the flickering and thick fog for SLI but honestly I couldn't care less, I'd rather run the game perfectly, with no jagged edges or anything to distract me. My love for Dragon Age apparently has no bounds and I'm hopeful that my system will not also be good enough for the new Mass Effect next year.

It might not matter right now for DAI, but more and more upcoming games are going to require more than 3.5gb of VRAM. Shadow of Mordor HD texture pack was 6gb, Evil Within required 4gb, and you can expect Witcher 3 to be pretty demanding if you want to run it on anything like decent settings. Some card makers are already putting out 6gb and 8gb versions of existing cards to permit them to handle the extra VRAM demands of some new games. The 970 being 3.5gb (effective) VRAM isn't a killer right now, but it will be within the next 12 months, making it a pretty poor buy if you wanted some future headroom.

As for SLI, I tend to agree. DAI is still wonky with SLI, as is Assassin's Creed Unity, and neither Bioware nor Ubisoft seem in a hurry to fix it. Unless you are shooting for 4k, it's more trouble than it's worth most of the time. If you can get away with one strong card, you will usually have less headaches than using two.

Nooo. Totalbiscuit has already proven that not even SLI GTX 980's can maintain constant 60 frames per second with 4x MSAA, unless this has changed in a driver/game update, or did you just want a few extra frames? If that's the case you would be better of just upgrading to Windows 8.1 and enjoy better framerate overall in this game (and Frostbite games for that matter). You should never have bought a second 970 today seeing that new cards are on the horizon (new card or pricedrop on existing cards), and with AMD's HBM memory stacking on their upcoming Fiji card. I know we can't think like this with technology because something new comes out often, but I feel this was a bad decision. :(

Money and bad decisions aside though, hopefully you will be happy, right? That's all that matters in the end. :) And I believe texture flickering was fixed in the latest game update. Not sure about the thick fog though.

You buy new GPU's just because your game doesn't run well with MSAA? You're already insane....

Especially because AA becomes more and more useless as you increase the game's resolution :P

Stop repeating this lie already, it's 2015.

Quite a few games go over 3,5GB of VRAM when maxed at 1080p, and the number will only grow in the future.

I have a R9 295x2 card, and I'll admit that performance at release wasn't good. But with AMD releasing new drivers, and the improvements found in patch 2, the game runs really smoothly now.

What resolution and settings are you folks running at? I have an old nvidia 560ti w/1GB VRAM and the game looks pretty decent. I'm running at 1608x1050 with most settings medium.

Resolution 2560 x 1600

AMD R9 290 X 2

Never had much problem running game but stability and framerate improved very much with latest amd driver and Bioware update.

Citations please? I read quite a bit about this when it came to light and nothing then, or more recently, has shown performance degradation at 1080p that I've seen.

The most recent testing I can find is here: http://www.eurogamer...x-970-revisited

That's from 3 days ago.

I think the game is a lot more stable since when he made that video, I also watched a few YouTube videos with the game running on SLI 970s which are the reasons I decided to go through with it.

I hope the flickering is indeed fixed and yes Darkyly Tranquil I feel that image was made for me sadly hahaha.

You never gave in to anything OP.

You were a PC royalist already, you simply climbed the ladder. As for PC problems, played 300 hours never had a single issue with anything.
