Recommend setting Effects Quality to Low. It boosts FPS, reduces shine and smoke for FX, and is less distracting than higher settings. Also looks more natural; improves immersive environs, IMO.

You never gave in to anything OP.

You were a PC royalist already, you simply climbed the ladder. As for PC problems, played 300 hours never had a single issue with anything.

I just never thought that I would SLI, ever. Games are becoming so demanding so quickly.

I just never thought that I would SLI, ever. Games are becoming so demanding so quickly.

The big spike in VRAM requirements has come as a result of the memory architecture of the PS4 (not sure about Xbone), which uses 8gb of shared memory, meaning it can load a lot of high res textures at once. AAA games that are made for it and then ported to PC are the ones that tend to have huge VRAM requirements due to how the PS4 works. If you look at dedicated PC games designed for PC architecture, they are nowhere near as demanding on VRAM as console ports. This article discusses it in more detail than I can explain.

It is always been that consoles are more ease of use and the logic itself that the game is streamlined to the hardware of the console wich is fixed so easier to do.

But I have been using SLI/Crossfire since years.  It has certainly its quarks but worth it.  Google is always a good friend when problems arise and this site is not a bad one http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Home to try out aldo it is not SLI specific.

I think the most problems arise because of the attitude I paid X amount of $ and therefore my card has to handle everything at maxed out settings.  Smart settings give image quality together with desired framerates but that needs tweaking experience and a healthy dose of patience.  Waiting (if at all) for that optimised graphic driver can make a huge difference also.

Your hardware has to have the capability to support SLI/Crossfire and that is much more then the capability of your motherbord alone.

Power supply and airflow within the case come to mind and is grosly overlooked.  Going SLI/Crossfire cost money and thats more then the pair of graphic cards alone.

People are fast casting blame when something doesn't function properly from the getgo, but it is sad to see the streamlining that takes place to circumvent that problem because so many people don't take responsability in the first place.

To OP: Who needs MSAA while having powerful tools like Sweetfx and GeDoSaTo? Better run this game @ downsampled 4K and claim you "give in".

Unless you play at 4k resolution it's not a problem. I have one 970 and DAI works like a dream. At 1080p it'll never need that extra 500Mb. I'm still annoyed with nVidia, as my card isn't as future proof as I'd hoped, but it's not affecting my current gaming. Have to say that I think one 980 would have been a better bet than SLI 970's. Still not convinced that SLI or Crossfire are worth it. When they work, brilliant, but there are so many games that get issues.

I play a 2560x1440 with a single 970 and have pretty much everything maxed out.  Have no issues running the game at all.  I don't think the 970 memory issue will make a difference on this game.  Still would have been nice to know about back when I bought it.
