 In this thread, we salute Nightmare -- one of the most brilliant and awe-inspiring adversaries in the whole series. 

 

How powerful is Nightmare? Your plot-armored protagonist and companions do not even entertain the idea of fighting it! Someone's gotta stay behind and die for the rest of you to get out. And for all Hawke's, Alistair's, or Loghain's great skill as warriors (the latter two having faced an Archdemon), Nightmare obliterates them in the blink of an eye! In the end, what could one expect, from a being that has accumulated its strength over eons?

 

He knows when you are sleeping. He knows when you're awake. He knows your deepest, darkest fears, so be afraid... be very afraid, for Nightmare's sake.

 

[OP'S SPECIAL REQUEST: Do not turn the discussion ITT about whether or not the ally left behind in the Fade (between Hawke, Alistair, Loghain or Stroud) actually died when facing the demon. That discussion is off-topic, has been done to death, nobody cares and is quite frankly the dumbest conspiracy theory of a BioWare game since IT.]
