Ok, So as a young author, and long time RPG fan I kind of find it amazing that dragon age has such diversity, and depth with the classes, and races. HOWEVER, from a creator stand point (not just video games) be it fantasy, sci-fi, or victorian I find it odd that majority of the hairs are literally sited for Elves and Humans,  I mean seriously we literally have more eye colors than we do compatible hairs. I mean at least can the different races have three default hair styles, changing on race/class/gender? I mean at least add hairstyles from time to time. Anyway with my odd rant out of the way I created a small (will be updated)  examples of hairstyles and accessories that can be (preferably) added to the game in DLC. I'll be adding descriptions of the races below my suggestions to make it more detailed

Qunari

The Qunari (literally, "People of the Qun") is the name most commonly known for the white-haired, metallic-skinned, gigantic race and their society that governs the island nations of Par Vollen and Seheron, and the settlements of Kont-Aar and Qundalon in northern Rivain and Anderfels respectively. The Qunari homeland is located beyond the turbulent northern oceans of Thedas. However, contact has been intermittent at best and there is doubt as to whether a ship has made contact in many years.

Members of any other race who adheres to the teachings of the Qun (humans, elves and even dwarves) are called Viddathari. Humans of Rivain and elven slaves of Tevinter are especially susceptible to conversion, although it is not unknown for members of other groups to embrace the Qun.

Those not born of the Qun are not to be described as Qunari. They are Vashoth, "grey ones"; likewise those who abandon the Qun willinglly are known as Tal-Vashoth, "true grey ones". Most Tal-Vashoth are former soldiers and become mercenaries, and are considered by Qunari to be worse than bas.

Hair Suggestions

1. Dreadlocks (Full Droop)

Jason-momoa-hairstyles-dreadlock-2014.jp

Obviously I'm sure this has been said before  but the Qunari looks like a race that could (would) benefit from the edition of a type of dreadlocks.

2. Warrior Hawk

Mohawk%20Haircut%20wes-studi-magua.jpg

For obvious reasons, this hair style would be amazing with the horns. And would look good in certain instances.

3. Mace Ponytail

The mace ponytail with large axe wielding beings?

Elves

A humanoid race, elves are typically shorter than humans (though this has been mitigated slightly since Dragon Age: Origins) and have a slender, lithe build and pointed ears. Long ago, the elves were the dominant race on Thedas, and their advanced civilization was based on nature and magic. After the fall of their great city of Arlathan to the Tevinter Imperium and the subsequent generations of slavery, the elves lost most of their cultural heritage and identity. They attempted to rebuild their society in the Dales, but after four centuries they fell to the Chantry's Exalted Marches.

Since then, their few numbers have been scattered all over Thedas in either forests as primitive nomads, the Dalish, or in cities as impoverished outcasts, with little hope of recovery for their culture or their race. They're now a people associated with poverty, crime, barbarism, and are often used as scapegoats for humanity's difficulties. Humans use the terms "knife ears" or, less cruelly, "rabbit" or "halla rider" (this may in fact be meant admiringly by some),as a racial slur. Though most of the elven language has been lost, they once referred to themselves as "elvhen" or "the people".

1. Woodland Dreadlocks (Full Droop, Side pony, Sage Hanging *Names are in order of Pictures*)

For the free and adventurous elves.

2. Mage's Ponytail

Anders-Borg-ponytail.jpg

jonathan-photo2.jpg

Now your enemies can tell you're a mage just from the ponytail.

3. Elven Princess Bowl

shortbangs3.jpg

This one should explain itself.

Dwarves

The dwarves, or dwarva, as the dwarves refer to themselves, are one of the major humanoid races of the Dragon Age setting. Strong, stocky, and shorter than any other humanoid race, the dwarves are skilled builders and boast a long tradition of courage and martial skill that has served them well in their millennia-long battle against the darkspawn. They are a race in decline, once developed a huge, great empire which spread across vast underground networks of twelve great thaigs that spanned the breadth of Thedas. However their world was all but destroyed during the First Blight.

What's not to love about  burly hair styles?

2. Singlet Sonya Braids (*Dante Yoda)

Warrior Princess Hairstyle? Yes Please!

3. Classic Double Down Braids (*Down The Back, Over The Shoulders)

Though a little odd, even men can wear these!

Hoods

Head coverings that will be separated by type

Mask Types (any images used in this category are purely examples of things that could/should be added)

Hood of the Bandit

Covers mouth, nose, and or identifying markings below the eyes.

Hood of the reaper

*note if possible hoods/robes of this type should be racial/class exclusive*

The-Elder-Scrolls-online-artwork-assassi

Hood of the Assassin (Fantasy, not Creed)

*obviously this type of hood seems like a recolor/texture of the bandit  hood, but inside should have a more "hard" type of mask, similar to that of a Chinese, Japanese Hanbo mask, also should most likely be rogue exclusive *

I agree that there should be more hairstyles in general and there's numerous threads about it around already but I have to politely disagree with those dreadlocks for female elfs. I can't stand dreadlocks and to me they don't feel elfy at all, unlike like braided styles do. Also, I would never ever use that 1920's(?) hair, not for an elf or a human. It also wouldn't be any improvement to the current short styles we have in game. But we all have different taste and that's okay. Let's just hope that we get at least something with the BE.  :)

I love the idea of more hair in the game and I would like to see more longer hairstyles added for men and women.  I would definitely use the dreads on my characters, if they were in game, depending on my character's personality.   :)

I do like the bob you picture, but not sure who would wear it.  Maybe my Ostwick mage, because it reminds me a bit of a Prince Valiant (the bangs) and I always like to think of elves with longer hair than their counterparts in the human world... male elves shoulder length and below, female elves past the waist.  :)

ymmv  :)

For everyone but the actual player, yeah. Both Fable and Dragon Age seem to suffer from having great environments and graphics as long as you avert your eyes from the glued bird nest on your head.

lol, true. But some of the cool hairstyles are available for the players, like the dreads and whatnot.

I think elves need warrior hawks too. One of Solas's concept arts had him in a long mohawk. I like the idea of warrior and rogue elves with a "feral" look to them, while mage elves look a bit a more refined. Ponytails, buns, etc.

The game needs hair in general. Not plastic wigs.

But the most annoying part of it all is how the hair is stuck to the skull. I don't know any technical terms here, but in essence, they force the skull into the hair, instead of molding the hair around the skull and ears. You can easily notice this if you pick a hairstyle and then adjust the general facial structure. The skull will change drastically while the hair stays in the EXACT SAME PLACE.

The hair's just not a part of whole thing, and that's soo, soo bad.

I think elves should have that warrior hawk, complete with "indigenous" accessories: animal fur, feathers, woven bands, shells, etc.

Qunari (with merc background) would have a more barbarian look, not an indigenous look.

Square Enix could make these and they would look good, I don't know about Bioware. Their hairstyles usually turn out bad. Get a modder to do this, I trust a modder to make these hairstyles look better than Bioware XD.

I very much agree that more hairstyles are needed, and i like some f your suggestions OP. Frankly, the more hairstyles the better!  But tbh i'm fine with all hairstyles being available to all races and genders - that way I get to make the call which suits the best for each character concept I come up with.

... that's not to say that hairstyles that favor a specific race/gender couldnt be added though :)

I would really like to see some new hairs for my female elfs (archer and mage) but nothing too modern that would stick out like sore thumb. I guess I would go for something like these...
