I would really like to see some new hairs for my female elfs (archer and mage) but nothing too modern that would stick out like sore thumb. I guess I would go for something like these...

I like the first three from top right to left.

I very much agree that more hairstyles are needed, and i like some f your suggestions OP. Frankly, the more hairstyles the better!  But tbh i'm fine with all hairstyles being available to all races and genders - that way I get to make the call which suits the best for each character concept I come up with.

... that's not to say that hairstyles that favor a specific race/gender couldnt be added though :)

Part of why you can't do trans well in game because you cannot identify Krem as a male because he shares a voice, hair, etc with female warriors.

I thought Krem was a butch lesbian at first because of the hair choices.

I am up for this a million percent guys. Bioware need to strongly think about making available more hairstyles. But what they MUST do first is to release a patch that rectifies the creation process so that instead of head being pushed into hair, hair is MOULDED around the head, as someone rightly pointed out earlier. So far in inquisition I have only ONE character with a decent hairdo, and that is my male elf 2 handed warrior who has white hair of the spiky variety, and I had to use a generalised head shape to create the right kind of fit, so the hair did not go through the ears, and the hair did not get a bald batch from where the head has been pushed up through. They should examine other titles and how they did it, and adopt a similar method. Yes, hair is supposed to be influenced by the head, but not in a way that the hair is changed for stupid reasons, and the hair should mould around the heard instead of the other way around.

I fully agree. When I created the current playthrough's female elf and tried to adjust her forehead, a gap kept appearing between the hairline and the forehead (used the shoulder length braided hair). It's so annoying. The hair really should adjust to the changes you're making, instead of staying in place like a helmet.

On a site note, when it comes to facial hair, the shape of the eyebrows shouldn't be determined by how much the forehead bulges outwards. You can't adjust the shape of the eyebrows, without having your character looking like a neandertal. :pinched:

Thissss. My female elf has the same issue - forehead hair gaps. Not terribly noticeable thanks to her hair color, but still really obnoxious. xD It seems as though they could have at least, I dunno... made the roots go deeper into the facial model so that no matter how small you made the forehead, it couldn't reach the cutoff point? Would work for humans and elves that way, too. Eh.

I think the kinds of hairs people show as 'examples' may be asking a bit much. We're not getting hair that flows down to your character's midriff in voluptuous curls with intricate braids and bows all over the place.

That's just not happening.

A lot of it has to do with the limitations of the engine. But that's really not an excuse when many fans make exceedingly better hairs off the same engine AS A HOBBY.

I have no idea why the hairs are they way they are, but the fact is the quantity and quality of the current hair options is just abysmal.

Seriously, Origins had better hairs.

We need more and better hairstyles, and I hope that we'll get them.

But people should maybe temper their expectations from this:

MOST OF ALL, WE NEED LIGHT.

Because when I was making my character in DAI, I could barely notice the actual color of the hair. I thought I picked black but it turns out it was brown! Because it was too dark!

And I also want to be able to ROTATE my character around so I can SEE what the hair actually looks like in its ENTIRETY.

New hair and tattoo options would be most appreciated. I would love to hear the design thinking that into the hairstyles that were chosen. Why so many shaved options? Do people of Thedas really have the time to shave their heads? Also, with such incredibly beautiful detail of leaves, rolling waves, lush forests, beautiful statues ... what is with the fake plastic beards and mustaches. I am really curious as to the thinking here!

yes.... the beards.... i really cant forgive them :( i so wanted an awesome hipster mustache for my IQ, but we have only poorly-designed low-hanging options... i was so disappointed with this part of the cc. this and hairs, and the sudden inability to separate eyebrow and hair color

Actually - at least I - have been talking about shoulder lenght styles, not long and flowy ones. I'm very aware of the limitations. Also, in one of my pics has tiny bows but that's just because I didn't bother to remove them with a image program. It doesn't mean I'd want them. Ribbons in braids are not outside of the limitations; even Flemet has them arleady.

I actually don't really like any of the hairs in that picture with the black background (Sims 3?) and that official pre-release art... that pic has been posted several times in different threads already because those are what we would have liked to have. So yes, those were our expectations before the game's release and still are.

Dragons Dogma had some nice hairstyles. There was a dlc that added 8 new styles as well as a book you could purchase that enabled you to change looks in game (even gender I believe) of both you and your companion.

There is a youtube video - but I don't know how to paste the link on this board

The people in charge of hair in DA:I should be looking for a new job. Its a disgrace that in the year 2014+, AAA gaming companies FAILS so badly at this. Even worse when the company in question focuses on roleplaying games where appearances matter a lot to the consumers.

The lack of hair and the quality of the existing hair options in DA:I is something to expect from an alcoholic indie-game developer with a 1 dollar budget and 17 minutes deadline. Calling it a disaster would not be hyperbole.

Im loving these hairstyles.

Not so keen on many of the hairstyles the OP suggested. In fact I really dislike dreads and would never use them in a month of Sundays. I think that many people like them so one or two dread styles would be ok.

I really love the harstyles Lilacs suggested too. Nice ideas! :D  http://thebeautyofdr...-to-see-in.html

I am absolutely desperate for new and better hairstyles for this game. I can't wait to come back and play with the BE and a whole pile of new styles. I am going to change my style and look for EVERY mission! :D

I really really wish the modders would be allowed to do this as they have done some wonderful things already with some of the armours! (Thanks so much to the amazing modders out there!)

I don't care for some fancy or street crap hairstyles, I would just want simple long hair like this one. It looks womanly and that's all I ask for :]

Oh, I wish BE comes with new hairstyles, I really really do. :)

I did a little experimenting with that red hair and one of my inkys. It's not perfect but kinda shows what I would like to see...

Surely they must have the plan to implement new hairstyles with the BE. I mean the terrible hair is something so widely criticised, I really hope they are going to put in a few more styles.

I really love what you did there Chardonney, that hair is beautiful on your elf. Oh goodness I wish we had that hair now! :D

Thank you so much.  :) I really wanted to see how it would look and it just shows that even a quite plain style with just a one single braid can make a difference. I so wish I could actually make hair mods for this game but that's so way beyond my capabilities. Luckily we do have a few amazing players doing those but even so, I'm still hoping for BW to answer our prayers and hopefully very soon. This waiting for BE is so frustrating.

It would be nice to at least see a return of some previous styles, such as the shorter hair with braids (think Merrill's hair) and the braided double bun.  I mentioned in a Feedback thread of my own that the styles were very limited.  It would be nice to at least get the styles we had back from previous games.

Also BioWare, please remove the sideburns from the hair styles for female characters.  It makes a lot of difference and it makes some of those styles look better on the female characters.   I've got that installed as a mod, but frankly I don't think those sideburns should have been there in the first place.  It's like they copy/pasted most of that hair onto the female model, adjusted it for head size and called it good.   It's pretty terrible.  Closely cropped and/or shaved hair is fine, but it's like they didn't even take the time to make sure that it looked appropriate on a female character.

I would like all players to have that graphical change for the female PC.

The limited number of hair options and their poor quality are bad enough, bad the fact that so many female characters have MALE-PATTERN HAIRLINES is just one of the many things that pushes Inquisition's hair from 'bad' to 'NO, seriously, what the f*ck happened when you were making the hair??!?'

I know the devs worked really hard on the game.  John Elper (lead animator) in particular was putting in crazy 12-16 hour days while he was working on getting Iron Bull available for all races/any gender.  I'm not knocking on the devs' hard work at all.

So I say this as a fan: It seems incredibly lazy and out of touch with some of the players.

They took so much care in other aspects of design and animation.  I love the armor and I do think the overall animation is well done, They lost me though when they decided that players didn't find hair that important.  Which isn't true; it seems like for a lot of RPGs (or RPG hybrids like ME3, which has means of modding several long hairstyles,) hair tends to one of the top downloads for mods for that game.

This problem with the hair irks me, because I know they could have done better than at least that.  I know BioWare isn't known for their great hair, but male pattern baldness and sideburns on female characters is wretched even by BW's standards.

I fully agree. I also do not understand the amount of bald/buzz cut hairstyles in CC, especially for females. 1 or even three would be okay but the sheer parade of them... *sigh*
