It requires a simple edit of coalesced.ini.

Change:
Bindings=(Name="Walking",Command="Button bRun")

To:
Bindings=(Name="Walking",Command="Toggle bRun")

Use an appropriate editor that automatically rebuilds it to suit me2 (coalesced editor, or the coalesced mod manager) or edit it in something like notepad++ and run it through me2inifixer.exe

That's all it takes. The beauty of this change is, if you then change your walk key via the game's bindings menu, the change carries over. Walking will always be a toggle now.

LOVE YOU MAN 4 THIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has anyone figured out how to do this for Mass Effect 3 yet?

I found the part in Coalesced.bin:

( Name="Walking", Command="EnableWalking | OnRelease DisableWalking" )

I've tried with trial and error (putting word Toggle there, removing the OnRelease, etc) but haven't got it working yet.

It's quite annoying having to hold down the walk key all the time in order to walk around. Running around everywhere like an idiot kills the immersion for me.

Edit: I figured out a workaround. Not perfect but it works, as I couldn't find out a way to make the toggle work. Here is what I did:

( Name="Walking", Command="EnableWalking" )
( Name="LeftShift", Command="DisableWalking" )

Then I set Left Ctrl to be the walk key in-game. Now I can enable walking with Ctrl and disable it with Shift.

Thanks Osmobot. I've been trying to make it work as a Toggle but have also failed.
For now I did like you; but put the "Rightcontrol" key instead of your leftshift, and it works fine. Better than the "gotta press the button all the time and give my left little finger a cramp"

Open the tool and browse to your ME3 install directory, under \\BIOGame\\CookedPCConsole.
It will automatically create a backup file with .original extension on the same folder in case you need to restore it.

To find the walk binding, type ctrl+f and search for "walking". It's the first result I think, just scroll down to the bottom, it doesn't auto-scroll to the correct entry for some reason.

Isn't shift usually binded to the pause menu?

I haven't been able to do a toggle either but here's what I ended up with (added stuff in bold):

( Name="Shared_Action", Command="Exclusive TryStandingJump | Exclusive Used | OnRelease StormOff | OnHold 0.2 DisableWalking | OnHold 0.2 StormOn | Exclusive PressAction | OnTap 0.3 TapAction | OnHold 0.3 HoldAction")

( Name="Walking", Command="OnTap 0.2 DisableWalking | OnHold 0.2 EnableWalking" )

What it does is enable walk mode when you hold ctrl for a bit, and disables it when you simply tap it.
Also disables walking when you hold spacebar so that storm is activated even while walking.

EDIT #1: Btw, I've created a topic on the ME3 forum with detailed instructions on this. Hope it helps.
