Is there a way to do this?

I love the helm graphics during combat, but I enjoy seeing Shepard's facial expressions and such during conversation and its quite frustrating with things like the Dragon armor where I have to choice on whether to remove the helmet.

You are out of luck with the dragon and pre order armors, the helmets dont come off. However, i cant say anything about normal helmets.

Don't give up, keep at them until this gets a decent response. Being unable to even see your character during conversation is an embarrassing oversight that needs to be corrected.

Yup, it's pretty crazy how people recognize you by your "appearance" even though your face is completely covered.

I found this pretty funny as well. "Shepard is that you?" Um...how  can you tell through my mask. I think it should be an option to be toggled whether to have it on or not in convo. That way people can have it either way. I like the DLC armors, but I am a bit annoyed that I can't have the helmets off in convo, which I believe they did in ME1

No, that can't either. Yes it really, really sucks and ruins immersion.

It was incredibly dumb to not let the helmets on the pre-order and CE armors be removed, it really takes away from the immersion to be forced to not see your Shep's face. Don't get me wrong the armor's are both awesome looking, but I was looking forward to wearing the Terminus Armor helmetless for the stats, but I guess not. :-(

I just opted out of using the pre order armor because of this, which sucks, but I rather see my characters face.

Pestering them about something they did is not the same as telling them about a bug in the game. They cannot fix it without remaking the armor, it's built as a set so it has the unique complete look it does. If you don't like it don't use it but otherwise there's nothing you can do. They've heard the complaint and will most likely correct for ME3, all you can do is wait.

The other threads were locked for good reason, people were flaming Bioware and EA for a decision that was completely theirs to make, if you don't like it then too bad, get over it.

I can understand the desire to
run around in collector armor with the 'helmet' off but that isn't the
way they were designed in terms of appearance or in terms of art
assets. To state it simply the armor is a single piece.

We do
have a system for armor segments, and you can use that to construct a
custom look for Shepard, but armor has to be designed artistically and
otherwise for this system. To put it another way - the collector armor
wouldn't look like the collector armor if we built it using the
segmented armor system. We're able to get the awesome look because it's
a single armor piece. This is not a bug, so it can't be "patched" to
change the behavior.

And if this was the support forum and people were posting this as if it were a bug then you'd have a point.  But it's actually option C most of us want - they provide a set of armor that doesn't basically break many dialogue components in the game.  No way that made it through QA, Shepard drinking through his helmet and man, he sure must be recognizable when people know it's him without seeing his face.  It hides any emotion other than vocal to boot.

People understand there are more pressing things to be fixed but I think they need to come out say "And we will find a workaround here" or a polite apology to those of us who paid more for the game for stuff we can't even really use.

Not really possible unfortunately, there's a large amount of situations where you can't switch out of the armor in-mission.  Most missions only let you change weapons.  There is a ton of dialogue that takes place both inside and outside of missions, a lot of nowhere near a point where you can change it.  If those armor customization spots were all over the place then people wouldn't be that upset about it.

But you cant, atleast I thought you cant. Armor can only be changed at beginning of missions and at armor cabinet stuff, right? So, Itll be more or less helmet or none most of the time...unless I am (hopefully) misinformed

Right.  It's also something to get their attention so that they can patch in the near future.

Personally, I'm going with the regular N7 armor for now.  I really want to see Sheppard talk during those cut scenes.

Genius...you see, THIS is the kind of person I want working for my company. A solutions person. A thinker, A doer.
The rest of you, just wait for "someone else" to fix it.
Good job Wonderllama4!!!

Oh wait...you can't really do that can you!

I am starting to think gaming companies are getting lazy...or is it just me?

Be sure to not give him a helmet then even on the N7 armor it sticks with what ever choice you give him for that mission. So your stuck with the visor or nothing IIRC.

I find this thread quite funny actually, i remember there being threads of the exact opposite on the dragonage forums, people where angry that their helmets did go away during dialogue and cutscenes :P
