Agreed, I just got the CE in today and the Collector's armor is *awesome!* But I can only use it on exploration missions because it's not worth the blow to not see what my Shep's saying.

Bioware is probably just ignoring us hoping this will die off with time

I'm also rather annoyed that I don't get to use my Collector's and particularly the Blood Dragon armors, but it's simply unacceptable for me not to be able to see my characters face during conversations - especially since I actually managed to come up with a fairly attractive face for my FemShep this time, rather than the ugly ducklings I made in ME1 :).

Begone thee, helmets of the unsavory conversations! For thou art not welcomed on this one's face upon his charming of others and thou shalt not impede our smiting of those undeserving of our sight!

Pestering them about something they did is not the same as telling them about a bug in the game. They cannot fix it without remaking the armor, it's built as a set so it has the unique complete look it does. If you don't like it don't use it but otherwise there's nothing you can do. They've heard the complaint and will most likely correct for ME3, all you can do is wait.

thanks, you are one of the first people here with some reason. i got the blood dragon and the terminus armor and i noticed the sam problem but unlike most people i realized there probably isnt much that bioware can do about it at this point. so what i wanted to do by coming here, to the forums, is to be able to alert BioWare or who ever is representing them to the things i loved and didnt love about Mass Effect 2 so that Mass Effect 3 can be the best one of the series.

That may be the case, but I doubt this issue will be going away anytime soon.

Tbh from a coding standpoint I would imagine it's a fairly simple fix. I mean come on. The Blood Dragon armor could easily be coded for a removeable helmet, as could the other DLC armors. Thankfully the game in itself is far too awesome to let a trifling niggle like this spoil it. Shame that I can't really use my BD armor, **** looks awesome.

I doubt the problem will go away :P. We are to loyal to ME for that. We love the game, that's why we want it right?

At least the inferno armor has a transparent helmet...though i don't use my collector's armor or the blooddragon armor. Besides, the ME2 blooddragonarmor looks more "medieval" then the dragonage one. There seem to be a few bugs with the helmets though. At a special occasion one of my squadmembers had no helmet, when she entered the ship she view one.

I just cannot understand why they made the DLC armor so it is one mesh instead of two. It would be one thing if all armor in the game was this way, but when a "not special" piece of armor allows the option its another story. The only thing I can think of is they rushed this and doing a single mesh was faster. Its obvious this can be patched, but I am not sure if they will. I thought it was funny in a not so funny way to watch Sheppard drinking through a solid piece of metal.

I can tell you why. Because they didn't bother going all the way on it. And it's a shame.

Ya it's a shame that I got the collectors edition and don't even use the armor. Having a helmet on during story elements ruins the immersion.

BW, people here agree that you make quality games, yet it remains to be seen how much you value the opinions and desires of your fan/consumer-base. Please seriously consider this issue. The amount of loyalty and reverence you will reap from helmetless cutscenes would be epic and forever-lasting.

Chances are they will either patch it and allow you to display helm or not, or the next sets of armor that they offer as DLC will be 2 mesh. Because you know they will offer items as DLC.

With the second solution, the problem remain's that what about people who don't want to run into combat wearing no helmet! I mean, I want to wear my helmet, with whatever armor, while I'm engaging in combat. But if I choose to do that then I'm stuck forced to wear my helmet during conversations as well :crying:

Can't agree more. Three DLC armors, and my Shep hasn't even dusted them off. It's annoying because they look pretty cool, but it just kills immersion to have

NPC: "Shepherd, been a long time!"

Shep: "I need you help with... Wait... How did you recognize me through my helmet?"

NPC: "X-Ray vision. I'm Superman's great-great-great-grandson."

Shep: 0_o

Don't give up, keep at them until this gets a decent response. Being unable to even see your character during conversation is an embarrassing oversight that needs to be corrected.

Yup, it's pretty crazy how people recognize you by your "appearance" even though your face is completely covered.

I found this pretty funny as well. "Shepard is that you?" Um...how  can you tell through my mask. I think it should be an option to be toggled whether to have it on or not in convo. That way people can have it either way. I like the DLC armors, but I am a bit annoyed that I can't have the helmets off in convo, which I believe they did in ME1

She recognised his ass - let's be fair, once you've seen Miranda's buns, would you ever mistake them again?

I can understand the desire to
run around in collector armor with the 'helmet' off but that isn't the
way they were designed in terms of appearance or in terms of art
assets. To state it simply the armor is a single piece.

We do
have a system for armor segments, and you can use that to construct a
custom look for Shepard, but armor has to be designed artistically and
otherwise for this system. To put it another way - the collector armor
wouldn't look like the collector armor if we built it using the
segmented armor system. We're able to get the awesome look because it's
a single armor piece. This is not a bug, so it can't be "patched" to
change the behavior.

Total and complete cop-out lazy excuse. "We're too lazy to make our Armor look better and work right because we didn't make our system right and took shortcuts in the first place and dont want to go back and fix that."

Fking EA is wearing off on Bioware like crazy.
