BW, people here agree that you make quality games, yet it remains to be seen how much you value the opinions and desires of your fan/consumer-base. Please seriously consider this issue. The amount of loyalty and reverence you will reap from helmetless cutscenes would be epic and forever-lasting.
Like I've been saying. They're getting lazy since they hit the EA pocketbooks.
Blizzard never sold out, and that is why they are still making quality games.
Bioware is about to pull an HP and try and ride their reputation, until people realize that they are making inferior products now, in an effort to to affect the bottom line, or because of laziness.

I can understand the desire to
run around in collector armor with the 'helmet' off but that isn't the
way they were designed in terms of appearance or in terms of art
assets. To state it simply the armor is a single piece.
We do
have a system for armor segments, and you can use that to construct a
custom look for Shepard, but armor has to be designed artistically and
otherwise for this system. To put it another way - the collector armor
wouldn't look like the collector armor if we built it using the
segmented armor system. We're able to get the awesome look because it's
a single armor piece. This is not a bug, so it can't be "patched" to
change the behavior.
Total and complete cop-out lazy excuse. "We're too lazy to make our Armor look better and work right because we didn't make our system right and took shortcuts in the first place and dont want to go back and fix that."
Fking EA is wearing off on Bioware like crazy.
Christina's excuse would be perfect if we were all jumping around saying, "Why can't I wear my Dr. Pepper visor with my collector armor?"
But no one is saying that. We are all complaining about not being able to see our character's faces during conversations. The simple fix (a patch), would be to implement a helmet toggle for conversations. This is extremely reasonable, and shouldn't be too hard.

Indeed, it's not exactly encouraging to run out and buy new copies of the game instead of used ones when you do things like this.

I haven't even used any of the three "special" armors I have because of the stupid helmet thing

I wouldn't get bent out of shape about it guys, its quite annoying on my end having a level 21 Vanguard whom I want to wear his bad ass armor, but oh well. Just take it all in stride you know?

The special armours are designed to either reward those who bought the more expensive versions of the game, or who took a leap of faith and pre-ordered ME2. Probably Bioware also have an ulterior motive of cutting down on second-hand sales, but the fact remains that the armours are there to "reward" the gaming community for their faith and support.
Given that the current implementation of these armours absolutely ruins the immersion of the game, and I really feel like I can't use them because of this, I have gained absolutely nothing from my purchase of the Digital Deluxe Edition. I may as well have cheaped out, waited for reviews that have also highlighted the very poor UI and control scheme on the PC version, and saved myself the cash.
I'm not inclined to "take this in stride". This is quite simply a decision that should never have been made, and that is hurting that part of the ME2 community that Bioware should be most focused on supporting.

I can't believe I thought that Bioware was a company that listened to the community. Turns out they're as lazy as any other company.
Take it easy. The game came out 4 days ago. Give them a chance to listen before you say that they don't.

I don't mean to offend you, believe me I understand how upset you are. I pre-ordered ME 2 to get the Terminus Armor and the Blackstorm Heavy Weapon, and I went to the store as soon as they opened at 10 am, even taking a bus to get there. I'm not exactly happy that my armor doesn't have the helmet toggle option, but I save my worry and anger for more important things these days. I just don't have much of it left to spare. If you want to be upset, by all means, voice your opinion and I hope they listen to you. I'm just saying don't get too angry about it hm? Honestly I mean no harm

But by the same token I don't think it's appropriate to simply say "oh well" about a clear, blatant flaw in something which folks have paid good money for, above and beyond what was necessary, because they chose to support Bioware and the ME franchise.
It's broken. It should be fixed.
Being all Zen about it is probably good for your spiritual wellbeing and all, but it's a little counter-productive on game-feedback forums

That being said, this is something that I don't think was done well, especially when there are ways to allow the player to see Shepard's face in conversations even when having a helmet equipped (such as having the helmet come off during conversations and having it attached to the rest of the suit in some way - by the back of the neck or something). In this way the stat bonuses would still apply (because the helmet is still attached) and you would be able to see Shepard's face in conversations

Yeah I've taken a zen approach to life after a few drastic changes in it back to back. I was angry all the time, about every little thing, not healthy. So I'm done sweating most of it. But good luck on the helmet issue, I'm just saying don't count on the Collector Armor being fixed, but maybe Terminus and Blood Dragon will at least get the option.

I can understand that from a artistic design perspective the Collector's Armour doesn't have a removable helmet option. But if that's the case, then the whole host of issues that stems from that need to be addressed - like NPCs recognising you by your (completely disguised) appearance, your character attempting to drink straight through their solid helmet, etc etc.Zack Ross wrote...

For the Blood Dragon, Terminus and Inferno armours, though, the models clearly have a separate, discrete helmet that could be removed from the rest of the armour (although arguably going by the descriptive text, the Terminus armour would cease to be effective without the helmet attached), and as far as these are concerned the users of this premium content are at a distinct disadvantage compared to those using regular ME2 armour.

Or just have it cover your face transformers style when combat starts, when talking lower it. That would be optimal IMO.
