I agree that it breaks immersion during conversations, drinking and kissing. While its working as intending and therefore not defined as a bug, its one hell of a kick to my suspension of disbelief.

The correct solution to that problem is to make the game recognize whether you have an obstructing helmet on or not, not to render the helmet invisible and intangible magically during conversations.

I know some will argue that you need to wear your helmet during combat, but seeing as all of my companions are fine without, why am I so squishy that I need it?

Personal pet peeve of mine: brave Pajama Warriors™ in a world of mercs in hardsuits.

Yeah I didn't want the helmet showing in the cut scenes so I played with out it... which means no helmet bonuses.... not that you need them, combat in ME2 is pretty easy.... mind you I only played on normal diff so maybe I should crank it up a bit.

Why is it so hard for Bioware to see this? just make the helmet disappear when talking, DA:O does this so why not a game so anticipated as ME2? pure laziness thats what.

Yeah crank that up to insanity or nothing. And about the other armors that you can´t toggle the helmet? oh right no one plays with them :P.

I will say this: while I find the idea of running around in a combat zone without a helmet to be silly, the Blood Dragon Armor looks boss without a helmet. Care to give Terminus Armor the same treatment? ^_^

I was wondering the same thing. ;)

These are Not Real, I made them using Paint.

Hmmmmmm... Not so awesome, looks less like a Brotherhood of Steel general. It's a good look for a grizzled merc boss though (ever notice they hate wearing their helmets in a fight?).  Still, nice to see.  Terminus Armor looks cool, almost as cool as Blood Dragon Armor. :P

Nothing is going to happen, we have had weeks of asking for a change, Bioware said they are happy with things the way they are, unless an individual comes up with an outside mod to do it for the rest of us, I doubt very much we will be seeing helmet free cutscenes.

I know but I'm sure they'll get tired of this thread popping up.

It comes down to money alone. I understand a company needs to make money, but the reason why Bioware was able to make money is because they made a good product and actually listened to the people who purchased their games, which provides the resources that keep them developing. If they do nothing its only a sign that they no longer care about development or their customer, they only care about the check. Its disappointing because they were one of the last studios I trusted to do the right thing.

If this is not fixed I will answer with my money and no longer support this game with additional purchases. Sure they have already gotten my money for the initial game purchase, but I am done buying updates or deluxe/collectors editions from them. Perhaps the best option for me is to start buying their games on console via a used resale /shrugs. All and all this is a good game, but not worth the extra I paid for a special edition, imho.

It really doesn't matter tbh. Whenever I want to see my face I simply wear N7 with no helmet. When I don't care then I just put on whatever I want and when I talk the little lights on the helmet light up which is fine because the armor looks awesome. I still wouldn't mind having the option though.

That comic strip is pretty funny.

I wish they would have given it a toggle or something. I have the CE with preorder and really can't bring myself to use either because a permanently helmeted Shepard reminds me way too much of Master Chief, and I'm not really a big Halo fan. I love me some BioWare, and I really love me some Mass Effect (you have no idea), but one of the things that makes it so appealing is a certain space opera feel that is lost when the lead role is permanently stuck with his head in a metal jar.

Real shame too, since those armors I paid extra for are pretty cool to look at, and I thought the Inferno speech bonus was a nice touch.

If you want no helmet it's simple.. Don't use DLC single model armor. Solved.

They've already listed the reason and  people should get off their high horses, "we could do it better attitudes" and actually listen for a change.

Yes I would also like to see it but I accept the reasoning and explanation as to why it's not possible.

From social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/103/index/779585/5#783994:

Christina Norman wrote...
I can understand the desire to run around in collector armor with the 'helmet' off but that isn't the way they were designed in terms of appearance or in terms of art assets. To state it simply the armor is a single piece.

We do have a system for armor segments, and you can use that to construct a custom look for Shepard, but armor has to be designed artistically and otherwise for this system. To put it another way - the collector armor wouldn't look like the collector armor if we built it using the segmented armor system. We're able to get the awesome look because it's a single armor piece. This is not a bug, so it can't be "patched" to change the behavior.

The argument is basicly "It only looks awesome because we force it to look awesome". The argument does have some merit, because they have them wholecast-with-glued-on-helmet for "artistic reasons"; If you had the option to turn the helmet off, or as a part of the segmented armor system, it wouldn't look as "awesome".

This is, of course, complete and utter bollocks. I am fully capable of determining myself what I think looks great or not. Breaking the armors up into their segments (breaking up the bonuses too, of course) may look terrible under certain circumstances. Imagine mixing the Collector's chestpiece with the shoulders, legs and armpieces of the Inferno armor, and the Cerberus bucket as a headpiece.

That would look terrible.

But it would be my choice to look terrible. And even more importantly, this'd apply to those armors that doesn't look horrible when mixed with other pieces. I want to have a Cerberus Armor and use the Umbra Visor. Why can't I? Or maybe I want to see how a full Collector armor looks with a classic N7 rebreather helmet? Maybe it looks good, maybe it doesn't. It doesn't matter.

I want to use the different parts of my armors. How I use them, wheter it looks good or not, doesn't matter. Some people are running around with Shepard's N7 armor in pink and magenta. It looks atrocious. It doesn't make sense in the context of the universe (the N7 armor never made sense in the context of the universe, past the beginning of ME1). None of this stopped them from implementing the Armor Segment System (A.S.S.).

Why should it stop them now? To stubbornly hold onto the missguided notion that these armors are somehow more holy than the ridiculous N7 armor is childish.

Please, please, please, please, please!; Devs, leads, find it in your hearts to fix this issue. Break the armors up into their segments. Release 1.1 versions of the armor DLCs.

We implore you. This may be a childish issue on our part aswell. But we're playing a game here. All we want is to play an even better game, as we see it. And some of us are really stuck on this issue, because as of now, those lovingly crafted armors you've made - and I'm sure someone at the office, perhaps multiple persons, take some amount of pride in these armors - they're simply not being used. Not because they're not good. But because.. well.. as far as games go, it's like having a flat on your car.

I mean.. you CAN technically drive a car with a flat. But no-one does. It's bad for the car. And having that car standing around with a flat is better than having no car at all.

Please fix the flat. :crying:

I vote for the helmet to be hidden during convo's.. I have the CE Collectors Armor, The Blood Dragon Armor & the cerberus armor, but I simply can't play in them since I'll miss out any fun during the convo's... Shame.

Hiding it JUST during conversations wouldn't cut it for me. I'd still feel like a complete tool when I was walking around any civilian area.
