Yeah, well, you're certainly gonna feel the idiocy of this situation when Liara kisses your helmet. So much for immersion.

Then again, only a dumb guy would wear a full helmet outside of a mission. Shepard doesn't look like a dumb guy.

Don't give up, keep at them until this gets a decent response. Being unable to even see your character during conversation is an embarrassing oversight that needs to be corrected.

agreed.

Come on Bioware stop being lazy, get off your high horse and fix this issue that many people are having! surely you could just allow us to remove our helmet in conversations and cutscenes via an options tab. Dont create DLC until you fix the original issues people are having with the game. Dont be so dismissive and lazy!

For the official "artistic" reason, was it the same for Dragon Age Origins and the Blood Dragon Armor ?

I was thinking this exact same thing the other day.

"We need to glue a bucket on your head to preserve the artistic nature and the wholesale impression of the armors, herp derp".

well there's a few details that i can think of that make it difficult for them to do this:
- helmet/cranium accessories bonuses toggled on and off during missions with conversation (health+5%, weapon damage+5%, etc.)
- DLC armors needing redesign and having to code for toggling existing stats while helmet is off. think of the effects on "full armor effects". DLC armors are 1-piece, granting multiple stats. when the helmet comes off, it could make coding for it difficult due to the parameters associated with the bonus, i.e., during convo, the helmet is off, your health regen = 5%(collector armor)? consider that shields, HP, and barriers, fortification, etc, recharge during conversations too. that makes it difficult to code for the changes in status on the battlefield.
- coding for more variables of your stats during a mission adds a whole other level of code. you can only change your status via:

level-up and adding skills
acquiring new weapons
buffing abilities (barrier, fortification, etc.)
medi-gel pickups
ammo buffs
(btw the reason why a datapad covers your character when you pickup a new weapon is because they need to cover your character while the weapon model is being changed, otherwise the weapon just appears)

big changes need to be made to the engine that runs in a potential battlefield.
keep in mind that your status effects are coded into the core of the engine. if they change it, they have to change everything related to it. it's not a quick patching job.

regardless of everything i just said,

PLEASE BIOWARE, LET US TOGGLE AN OPTION TO HAVE HELMET OFF DURING CONVERSATIONS!!!111one!1

I'd support having a toggle for helmets just like ME1, even if it's only for the N7 suit (DLC suits would need to be completely redone, and I can't see that happening). I don't think a DA:O type auto-hide would be useful, however. It would be a bit silly if you were in a hostile atmosphere and your helmet disappeared each time you had a chat with anyone :)

If they add helmets going away during conversation than i want it to be an option because personally, I like having the helmet on and if it was on for everything but conversations that would just be really weird.

I always hated that about dragon age.

How about having the helmet off only in the "green zones", you know, the places where you can't take your guns out. That is where most of the conversations occur, and stats like -5% health don't matter when you arent getting shot at.

The one thing that pissed me off more than anything is watching my helmet vanish while in DA:O.

Stop trying to get crappy results replicated because you spent 2-5 minutes in a Face editor.

Why on earth would DLC armors need to have separate helmet bonuses calculated?  Just because the N7 helmet provides a slight boost doesn't mean they need to add "modular" bonuses for the DLC armor.  I want helmet toggle, but I'm not in the group of those who want DLC armor to become modular.
Bioware, we want helmet toggle.  As in Helmet On, Helmet Off, and Hide Helmet in Conversation Only.

This is my vote for toggle "Helmet On, Helmet Off, and Hide Helmet in Conversation Only" )

Bioware, you have to correct your mistakes! At least this one.

The most absurd part about this all is that in ME 1, after Eden Prime, it automatically switched off your helmet for you to seem more plausible, so it's clearly and obviously possible and Bioware knows how to do it, but for some reason they did not in ME 2.

Oh wow. There are many places where I could imagine the issue of having a helmet. Drinking. Dancing. Meeting with Tim ("I thought we were going to meet face-to-face" he says, with his helmet on). But nothing quite as retarded as Liara kissing you with your helmet on.

How stuff like this got through playtesting without them going "Dudes, we can't release this. It's ridiculous." I'll never know.

Its stupid when you go back to the batarian bartender that poisoned you, with the blood dragon armour on and he says 'do i recognize you' lol. How many people does he see with the blood dragon armour on in Afterlife?
