I just opted out of using the pre order armor because of this, which sucks, but I rather see my characters face.

QFT. Same here.

Who doesn't? Really. Which makes it all the more pathetic.

Im trying take this step further and propose that the suits be broken down into modular pieces to be more friendly with the new system. If they shange the system honor it don't slap it in the face.

Time to request a patch?

This should be patched quickly. A hotfix would correct this issue, and it could be done by the end of the week if Bioware hurried with it. It may seen trivial and nit-picky but I want to toggle the helmets on and off at will like I could in ME1! I'm thrilled you can wear the breather visor and stuff in combat but I can't truly enjoy if it if I can't remove it to talk to people! Dx

I don't have ME2 yet, but does having a helmet on matter at all? It seems that the game is slanted toward the story and away from the combat. I played all six of my DAO games without any characters wearing any helmets and never had a single issue on Normal difficulty.

If this gets locked, can someone message me their opinion so I don't have to keep posting this in threads? :-)

ME2 yeah, helmets give you various bonus stats. Different helmets different bonus stats. only with the N7 armor you start with though. Al lthe bonus stuff is one piece and you can't change anything.

Please tell me we can remove the helmets at the armor station place on armors that you buy in ME2, I mean at shops or what not?

That is what the thread is about.  You cannot take the helmet off period, end of story.  If you could take the helmet off and lose the stat points, we wouldn't be complaining about it.  Then it would be up to the player what was more important to them.  (This is about the special armors only, regular armor works fine).

on the N7 you can toggle it to no helmet or the visor, but on the special armors (terminus, blood dragon, inferno, etc etc.) you can't do anything with them. Also from what I've seen so far the only place you can modify your look is in the normady's captain quarters. So you have to go to your ship to change anything.

it's so damn funny lurking around with an armor looking like a "bug" and eveyone you met before knows you in sight. hell you can even drink without taking the helmet off you can even get -spoiler snip-

Well this thread seem to have answered the question I had. I just bought the game yesterday and today I was on my first mission and went to take my helmet off like I did for non-combat environments in ME1 and noticed that the equipment screen and its helmet toggle button was gone. I thought they were going to fix the inventory/equipment screen not delete it!

The amusement wears off quickly when you see your character drink through his bug face. Or not depending on your sense of humor I guess :)

I'm going to have to do the same. I'm really frustrated. Seeing Shep dancing with that insane armor is just... daft.

I can appreciate a basic helmet, and heck there was a character that took its helmet off and it had a fancy suit, why can't Shep do the same??

Grr. I could have SOLD the blasted codes if I knew this was going to happen.

Well the growing number of disatisfied coustomers grows with each passing day. I'm sure if everyone knew about the social they would be getting alot more on this issue.

I think it's something we just have to adjust to tbh. I mean they've already posted that it was a design decision, and it didn't sound like they were considering changing it. On the bright side...ME3 will hopefully have this design changed ;) But I hope Bioware will look into this

Design decision my ass. They should've taken this up with the community to ask for our opinions/feedback just like they did with New Game +.

If you mess with the little things people will get ticked. If it's not broke, don't fix it. And I'm not waiting till ME3 just for them to get it right. Fix it!

I totally understand where the art department is coming from with the armor being one piece and how they want to show off the armor. But they could have separated the helmet and the armor for conversational purposes only.

I'm not concerned with running around the entire game with the helmet off. What I am concerned about is that the helmet stays on during conversations that are indoors in a habitable environment for the characters. I don't see how it could be that hard to add in some code for all conversations or certain conversations where Shepard would take the helmet off so that everyone can see Shepards face during those conversations.

We will adjust, and ensure that next time the Collectors Edition and pre-ordering are worth it before purchasing.  It is funny that something that was standard in Mass Effect 1 will probably now be a feature in Mass Effect 3.  If it is not fixed, at least show us a video before hand showing that the helmets are not removable.  They showed videos of everything else...

Just a really stupid design decision, and lazy programming. ME1 had it, Dragon Age has it, yet ME2 doesn't?

This leads me to suspect that ME2 wasn't the original dev crew from ME1. ME1 dev crew possibly moved to DA:O? I'll have to check the credits.

Either way, Bioware needs to fix.

I find this thread quite funny actually, i remember there being threads of the exact opposite on the dragonage forums, people where angry that their helmets did go away during dialogue and cutscenes :P

Hey I agree with everyone, just being realistic as to wether they will change it or not, I hope so tho ;)

As to the art departments saying the armor is one piece and what not, tbh that doesn't make much sense to me at all...if it's one piece then HOW on earth does shepard ever take his armor, or helmet off! Its not like its made of cloth so you can just unzip it :P The helmet has to come off some how...
