@Lichenstien

That is a dumb rationalization. you fail.  Boba Fett was not the principal character in Star Wars.  Shepard is the hero in Mass Effect.  You probably thought Stormtroopers were the good guys too, didn't you?

So let me get this straight finc.loki, you bought the CE partly because of the Collector armor, ooh get to look like a bug right?

Ok seeing as you stated you agreed with vena_86 whom responded to my post, want to know what breaks immersion to me.

Seeing someone wearing a bug suit without the head on! It makes them look stupid!

The fact none of you understand the comprehension of a one-piece suit just makes me think that hopefully you will do what you claim that you are going to do and will get lost when you don't get what you want.

I'll also repeat the question I put in the post Vena responded to...

Name me one scene in either Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi where Boba Fett took his helmet from his iconic suit off?

Forget it, I'll answer for you... never!

Want Shep running around as iconic Shep, wear the N7, want him to have the funky iconic pre-order costume look, have him dressed up as the iconic pre-order costume.

if it's a one piece suit how did shepard get into it?

Can't see Shephard's expressions during dialogue? What a 'wonderful' RPG-esque immersion that is. And BioWare is defending this decision?!?

The helmet issue isn't just about the collector's edition or pre order bonus. I bought the collectors edition because I enjoy the games BioWare makes and me purchasing the collectors edition is a way to say thank you. I understand the artistic reasons behind those armors and the helmet. With the N7 armor you have stats on the helmet and it seems like a bit of a waste to not use it. And the second you enter into a conversation with that helmet on I feel the immersion pulled away. The engaging dialog is why a lot of people play this game. And unfortunately having the helmet on for scenes that are suppose to convey all this emotion and story doesn't work for those people. I grew extremely attached to my own personal Shepard and so I will simply play with the N7 armor and not use a helmet. But its something that BioWare should be made aware of. And I hope they take the rational discussion about this seriously.

I guess I'm the only one that bought the CE only because I didn't want that hideous standard box art.

Guys..don't ya think that this was the same way we reacted when we couldn't get those sweet closed helmets that some guys had in the last game?

Now bioware gives us that option..and now we wanna see the face? I respect the fact that it doesn't help with the immersion..but i'm sure they did all that they could to meet what the fans wanted in this game..

What doesn't make sense is that when not on a mission, when talking after or before or, hell, even during, that he doesn't take off his mask.

It just makes it goofy. Other characters are able to take their full face masks off, like I've said before, so why can't shep and just have him hold it to the side. Hell, in ME1 I could quick swap my entire armor, but now I can't even have the helmet off? Eh?

It's a matter of taste really.

While a bit annoying when characters 'recognize' you with your face covered, there's nothing wrong with having your face covered. In fact, I do kind of like how your appearance doesn't change in cutscenes. Arguably, immersion is more frequently broken when your helmet "disappears" upon talking to someone than in the 2-3 occasions where someone recognizes you with a mask on.

The reason i don't use the pre-order armours is because I really enjoy painting stuff in games.

I never liked the helmet of the collector armor, I do like the rest, IE the whole body armor.
So stupid me thought , no problem I just toggle the helmet off LIKE I COULD IN ME1, problem solved.

Then again, even if I loved the helmet part, I still wouldn't want the damn thing on when I would be engaged in dialogue.

I doubt you could grasp this concept though, I've read your other posts.

Since when was Boba fett the main character, and as far as I know this is Mass effect and not star wars and I am not playing AS boba fett.
You're not the brightest one in your family I take it.

The thing that makes the collector armor looking more like the bugs, is the helmet.
Without it, it just look organic and "muscle" like, at least to me.
See that is the beauty of role playing and taste, we each feel differently.

Ok, then please explain to me HOW does Shepard ever put on this armor?!? And if Shepard can, then how on earth does he ever take it off if it is a one piece suite? (I mean does he/she climb into it like a sleeping bag or...?)

I agree with other's about Boba Fett not being the main character. The question you need to ask yourself is would you be able to handle it if Luke Skywalker wore a helmet the whole movie, in all the scenes? Even in casual scenes where he sits at the bar...

I still think a great solution would be to just have the helmet come off automatically during conversations but still be visible in some way on Shepard (attached to Shepards back neck or something). That way you wouldn't have to lose the bonus stats (because it is still attached) and then it would come back on automatically after the scene. (Basically Shepard just takes his/her helmet off for conversations and puts it back on afterwards). In my opinion that's what should have been the design decision from the beginning, as its a half way point between what Bioware wants and what the fans want. ;)

Why didn't they just follow DA:O and make helmets disappear during (most) dialog?

because apparently, blinking helmet lights and muffled voices are awesome and much easier to implement

are their even such things like a one piece armor suit? I mean the closest thing I could think of is Iron Man, but thats pretty much a mech suit, and even then he could take the mask off, even the great Darth Vader can so why is shepherd so special?

If I got to have my helmet on like Boba, where the hell is my jet backpack? also boba doesnt talk much buddy.

Favorite Boba Fett Quote....

My backpack's got jets

Well I'm Boba the Fett

Well I bounty hunt for Jabba Hutt

To finance my 'Vette

wicky wicky woo

Well I chill in deep space

A mask is over my face

Well I deliver the prize

But I still narrow my eyes

'Cause my time

I don't like to waste.

Get down

I'm a question

Wrapped inside an enigma

Get inside the slave one

Find your homing signal

From Endor to Hoth

Ripley to Spock

I'll find what you want

But there's gonna be a cost

Me too. I made it through one quest on Omega before changing back to regular armor. I loved the DLC armor.. but hated not being able to see the face. So.. regular armor for me, I guess.

Or even that old Mass Effect game, which happens to share the same engine as this one.

Was it too budget consuming to have helmet toggle? In that case, the accountants surely appreciate the gesture. Of course that having extra blinking lights illuminating from my screen is always welcome... on Christmas. I wonder if I need Shephard to run around naked in order have a better visual role playing experience...

In all honesty, BW has a core of excellent QA people. It either was bugetry lazying or they really miscalculated a good chunk of their target audience by that much. Not everyone buys a BioWare game just for the sake of teh pretty explosions, mindless shooting... and cool armors.

Do you think it is possible that when they re-did the inventory system and removed the equipment screen they forgot that  was where the helmet toggle was located? I figure it should be relatively easy to move that bit of code from the original game to the new one. You would just have to specify a different screen like the squad screen for the switch's location.

I know I am going to be turning Shepperd's helmet off full time despite the in combat immersion issue. I want to see her face.

As for the helmet coming off they could learn something from Crysis. In that game several of the characters are in full body armor yet in some cut-scenes when it is practical they take the face mask of their helmet off and then put it back on when the conversation ends. The scene are much more scripted as it is a FSP not and RPG but the possibility is there.

You see, there is a middle ground for both parties and it's called helmet toggle, the last game had it to boot :)

How awesome would it be, if Shephard would take his helmet, mask whatever off by himself during conversations? (or even make it your choice whether to leave the helmet or not)

Wait, did somebody came up with this already? The thread's too long.

Certainly belongs to the wishlist for ME3.
