I'm not that excited about it. First of all the continuous blabbing by the characters is annoying. Mainly though it just isn't interesting to me. I LOVED the ME3 MP, maybe I just need shooting weapons? I can't pinpoint it really. Is it just that sword/shield/mage RPG doesn't really lend itself to MP? Anyone else feeling it?

I would suggest just not having MP like this in a single player RPG because I just don't think it fits.

Below is how I see DAMP in the debat about whether DAI needed DAMP or not...

Concept: 9/10

Implementation: 0/10

It was shoehorned in for money on EA's order. No, I don't think it belongs. I don't think EA belongs in Bioware.

I was less than lukewarm on the idea of multiplayer from the start, and after trying it, I'm even less so. I didn't care for the inclusion of MP in ME3 either, but it was fun enough that I could put some time into it, enough to get a couple of promotions and add assets, but here? Meh.

I can agree with this. I was skeptically optimistic after ME3, and I will say that I do enjoy it in the "just one more level..." kind of way. I just wish it was less dungeon crawl and more, mini sidequests. I actually love how the characters "talk" to one another, but if it was released as a standalone expansion with mini quests and actual banter, I would be over the moon.

its un needed, just a constant grind. and it has no impact on the story. it would have been neat to have it actually impact quests on the map. give additional rewards, play in to some other mechanic but nope, no real reason to play it. just wait for the D&D game that the people behind DAO are working on, that seems to be RPG multiplayer done right.

Not as bad as it could have been, but not even remotely as good as ME3 MP

If I need to play multiplayer, I play MMO's that were, you know, designed to be MMO's. Keep MMO out of my SP, please. Make a freaking DA-MMO if you have to, but leave my SP alone. So no, I haven't played multiplayer and I will not. Never did with ME3 either. Call it a principal.

I stopped playing it a few days after release. Few maps, a near useless item store, incredibly grating "banter", and lag induced rubberbanding effects (despite being for four players only!) made it a complete waste of time. When they broke the key drops and merrily left for their holidays, I was done for good.

I had a fun few weeks with it. Too few levels though.

they could have made it a lot more interesting. Fall in players (like Total War: Shogun 2) that accompany you on a mini quest from the war table. Level of enemy AI depending on amount of fall in players and players' level.

But no, they made it endless grinding, hoping to find that one good equipment thingy. I was lucky and got a lot purple ones quite early in DAMP, including that much wanted HOK-ring.

And then the endless: "I had a parakeet, it was blue. I smashed it between the door. Have you ever seen a mushy parakeet? And i sold it for good money too."

there does not need to be an mp aspect in a rpg that's not an exclusive mmorpg cos the campaign aspect just gets ignored

I like the idea of adding MP to Dragon Age.
I dislike the way it is implemented - unnecessary farmy, laggy, buggy with no connection to SP.

Why do I think MP should be connected to SP?
Because if you add a MP to previously SP-only game there has to be a reason for this.

i don't fancy the idea of MP affecting SP, especially if MP component allows you to unlock additional content in SP which cannot be unlocked without it, especially if MP is designed as f2p*

co-op mode that is fun to play with friends? sure, i'd love that. but i know only one game which did that successfully - D:OS

*F2P:

tedious grinding that takes away the pleasure of playing vs spending real money which removes the element of healthy competition; not many MP games have this thing balanced enough to keep me play/pay and from quick glance at MP forum - this one is laughable

I loved ME3 multiplayer but I haven't even tried DAI multiplayer; don't have any interest towards it at all, really.

Nope! Not at all.. Its a cheap, tacked on, PoS implemented in all games EA!

It couldnt be anymore bare bones.. Basic clases, with less choice than the already dislexic sp char development, and tiny, short, pathetic maps, that are so ridiculously repetetive.. And ive put many, many hours into it, thinking it might get better.. Theres literelly no redeeming quality in this game, imho! It sucks from the ground up..

Worse still... DAMP is somehow alot more fun than the campaign.... Go figure!

After playing sp and how the combat played out I haven't touched nor will I. The combat just feels...I don't know, soft? watered down? I mean, it's supposed to be action based but timing or placing is not really a thing in DAI. I can't parry or my block doesn't do anything if I do it right as the enemy's about ot hit. It doesn't matter if I see where it's going and walk out of the way, the fireball will arc like a homing missile and hit me. Hell, playing as a warrior you need upgraded combat roll, not because of precisely timed dodging but because it's a get away for free card. Stunned, frozen, shocked? Combat roll!

Then you go and play something like Dragon's Dogma, Monsther Hunter, Dark Souls and you see different versions of what DAI wanted to do with its combat but, you know, working well.

So my point is that DAI combat is just not good or fun enough for me to put hours to it, which is what basically MP is: "Let's have some fun with this combat and friends!" ME3 for all the flack it got had a really nice combat to which I happily put 300+ hours in mp, plus 10+ completed playthroughs.

I played it once or twice, and the problem is, it's just too slow. ME3 multiplayer was fast paced and very engaging, it's still the only reason I put ME3 back into my 360. Inquisition multiplayer moves at a snail's pace and I imagine earning nice equipment would take a millennium, unless you are willing to drop real cash on a random loot drop.

IMO, ME3's multiplayer was a masterclass in community building and engagement. The news feed on developments in the war, each weekend event was written to sound like players were really contributing to the war effort, successes were rewarded with gear/combat advantages and text that reinforced your contribution and failures had consequences. We just failed the Druffalo Hunt so there should be tougher Druffalo this week or healing potions are less effective, something to remind us that our efforts have a purpose or consequences.

ME3's tie in to SP was controversial, although I think there could be some decent links to SP made in DAI. Perhaps if you promote 10 characters then you get 1 agent of that class in SP at the War Table. Or tying your prestige to increased influence so you can unlock more Perks in SP.

Finally, I'm still playing ME3's multiplayer, and actually just brought two more friends on board with that. I really want to see the community and MP of DAI keep going and growing, but we're going to need a new map, new optional quests, new SOMETHING to keep it alive. ME3's MP eventually added classes and weapons that weren't present in the SP; it kept the game fresh and was an interesting bit of world-building to boot. Perhaps DAI lacks the same massive appeal and player base to justify that level of effort on EA's part, but this was a GOTY, so it deserves some decent ongoing support.

While I agree with you that this DAI game does not lend itself well to a Multiplayer gameplay style, EA is on record that they will not greenlight a SP only game. http://www.gamesrada...s-are-finished/ .

Why you ask? The idea is to obtain an additional revenue stream from each game, via MP micro$transactions. The latest Q3 FY financial reports clearly shows the importance of this policy with a slide showing the MP Q3 revenue.

My personal hope is that Mass Effect 4 comes with MP co-op as I really liked it with ME3
