Yay or Nay? I really liked assassin on my DW. But I'm wondering if it's a good idea on an archer build. Or am I better off going with Tempest or maybe Artificer?

Yay. I think that DW is more fun and more suitable for Assassin specialization because of them being able to go into stealth more often but archers are good assassins too.

I'm playing as an assassin archer right now and it's pretty enjoyable. Depends on what playstyle you enjoy though ~

Depends on what you want to do, really. DW assassins are probably better for normal running around fights, as their abilities have shorter cooldowns and they have higher autoattack DPS (plus AoE autoattack damage, if your mage is laying down the CC). Dagger rogues can maintain high DPS from target to target. But it's hard to beat a bow assassin for terrifying single-target burst.

I personally find daggers more fun, just because I like doing silly things with Flank Attack's permastealth. Like cackling madly whenever I steal orders and loot right from under people's noses. Or listening to the bewildered "where did they go?"s when I peacefully rub shoulders with a cluster of enemies.

Archer assassins are probably the strongest solo class, but in a party they can't really play to their full potential. Assassins kill their targets with burst damage, then restealth and position themselves for the next target while their skills become again available - meaning you'll have 4-5s downtime between kills which doesn't synergize well with a party gameplay.

In other words an archer can squeeze significantly more damage in 8 seconds of Mark of death but after that he is down to auto attacks and 1 longshot  for the next 10 seconds while DW uses Stealth-Twin Fangs-Flank Attack-Deathblow/Shadow strike at a constant rate with only as many auto attacks as he needs to get stamina. So by the time MoD is ready again DW with the comparable gear should be in the lead by damage dealt. Of course that doesn't matter if a dragon is finished by MoD's activation or immediately after it...

Cackling madly is always a lot of fun! :)

Recently played an assassin for 4 levels or so and found it is a lot of fun as DW but felt clunky as archer.

As an assassin archer, hidden Blades often wouldn't work.  It would act like it went off, but no cooldown and no damage.  Maybe out of range???  Also, using Mark of Death didn't feel as smooth.

With DW you run up and throw Mark of Death, flank attack, hidden blades, stealth, twin fangs ... dead.   But as an archer there is no "flank attack" per say.  So you throw mark, stealth, and because I'm not in range hidden blades often wouldn't go off.  Full draw would work well, but I wasn't really getting the benefit of the assassin tree as an archer.

Tempest or Artificer is more suited for Archery, that being said, Assasin Archer probably has the highest single target burst in the game- it'll just be a bit tricky when coordinating with your party. You'll miss out on multi-target damage, reliable cc and very low cooldowns, but gain a heck ton of burst so definitely yay.

Best build ever.

I wasn't trying to hard but you'll  get the idea.

I only use either assassin or artificer. I've never used Tempest and it doesn't interest me at all. I find the first two fun.

Assassin Archer is my favorite! But it will depend on how you like to play your game.

I really enjoy using archer assassins for crowd control with Knock Out Bomb on large groups and Full Draw on single targets. Used effectively, an archer assassin turns most mob encounters into a series of 4-on-one fights. You don't get to spam your abilities as much, but you do feel like you have a lot of control over the battlefield since you can near-instantly incapacitate if not kill any enemy at will without having his buddies so much as glance at you.

Honestly, it seems like most of the trees are meant to be used melee-mid range. Artificer is best utilized to it's fullest in a melee-archer (which makes no sense at all). Double Daggers loses access to the Hail of Arrows, but gain increased value on Elemental Mines and Spike Trap. Unsure of Tempest, and Assassin is best used with a stealth build Double Dagger build.

Did someone say highest single target burst? (spoilers)

I know what a Tempest Archer is capable of- Assassin however has a higher frequency of doing almost the same amount of burst.

That said, I can't really watch the video cause I've yet to play the DLC :P
