I've tried installing Mass Effect 2 on two different computers, and I keep getting a "Failed to authenticate the disc.  Please insert the correct disc and try again."  when I run the game for the first time.

I've made sure Daemon Tools is uninstalled and I'm not sure what to do.  Anyone have this problem or know how to solve it?

Mass Effect 2
Physical Disc Install
v1.0

Dual core 1.8GHz
4GB RAM
512MB 8800M GTS
DX 9.0c

You must have disk one in the drive when you start the game.

This seems to have worked, sort of. The game started to run, crashed, and then my ME2 directory disappeared. Reinstalling now.

Having daemon tools installed on your computer has nothing to do with that.

Just make sure your disc is physically mounted, meaning you have it in your normal drive and you open it that way. Through one of my install troubleshoots you actually need to use daemon to do it.

Also, on disc 1 there is a application called "Mass Effect 2_code" in the data directory. Maybe run that again and make sure your proper CD key is entered

I had the same error, and was able to "fix" it by uninstalling Roxio as per http://tinyurl.com/D...enticationError (or if you'd rather not follow that link, search for "Disc Authentication Error" at support.ea.com) Hopefully that helps somebody.
