Suddenly, horrifyingly, in the form of a deranged Undead Animal, the Shabby Hyena Lunatic resurrects!

Luce.jpg

Just when you thought it was safe to be moderately sane, PHoD returns in order to dispense diverse and sundry new disgustingly mutated Death Monsters upon the Community whether you want them or not. And probably some other stuff too, but mostly hideous Spleens and Undead Animals and that kind of thing...

Having vanished off to obscure corners of the planet where only the most resplendently idiotic go, in order to be beset by infinite swarms of Epic Level Nuclear Mosquitoes whilst conducting behavioural studies of animals that try to eat you if you let them, Fifi and I have returned home and, having identified the curious grey box as a computer, discovered that six months without sight of NWN had led us to forget everything we ever knew about it. Trying to recall what I was doing six months ago I peered in utter perplexity at gmax for half an hour before vaguely recalling how it worked...

But now, cleansed of dust, bits of tropical foliage and profuse insect bites, I have more or less caught up with myself and must thus immediately throw myself back into the strange worlds of "Demoness Tales"...

Spleens.jpg

In order not to clutter up this site with lots of dribbling PHoD rubbish, I decided to start this futile thread thing to cover all the seethingly pointless stuff I'm doing with NWN (other than the ALIEN and Doctor Who threads already extant).

Primarily, at present, this is hordes of hideous Spleen Creatures.

Lucirath (the Renegade Demoness) demands a constant supply of new and more challengingly disgusting monsters to encounter and so I have to keep making them... I hope to get "Spleen Creatures 2" onto the Vault soon, once I've finished relearning what gmax does and thus finishing all the unfinished Spleens I left six months ago... Watch this space...

Also starting work on "ALIEN vs DEMONESS 2", so there'll be loads of new stuff on the ALIEN thread too. And I've started digging out a probably insane multiple Tileset project initially intended for the Doctor Who Modules but which mutated and became shockingly debased. I'm now starting to pick through its debris and am finding some very interesting things...

Why, thank you...

Now, about those Tilesets I mentioned... Heads have been converted from KotOR to NWN, Placeables have been converted from KotOR to NWN yet, astoundingly, so far as I know, nobody has yet converted all of the entirety of all the actual world geometry of KotOR to NWN... There are very good reasons why not, borderline impossibility amongst them, but the insanely epic scale of turning KotOR 1 and 2 into Tilesets has not deterred the Deluded Hyena Weirdo who is even now hitting every bit of Aurora Trimesh in sight with some outrageously immense bricks...

For example, those of you who've played KotOR would recognize this as the world of Manaan - but you'd be WRONG! Because it's actually a shiny new (not at all finished yet) PHoD NWN Tileset using Manaan's geometry!

FishPlaza.jpg

Kara, the newest Demoness to go Spleen hunting in my Modules, takes us on a brief tour of the bits of the Manaan Tileset not currently rife with frustrating walkmesh glitches. (I might add that converting KotOR's environments to NWN involves a socking dirty great legion of walkmesh problems which must be battered into submission with noxiously huge bricks until they are dead and then purged from existence with cleansing fire and acid).

The OTHER notable problem in hitting entire worlds with bricks is that the KotOR games don't actually have Tilesets. The environments are all composed of whopping great sections - some of which are COLOSSAL! So COLOSSAL that gmax and NWN sometimes refuse to countenance them. Turning them into Tilesets therefore often requires them to be cut into pieces with a brick... a very sharp brick, you understand.

FishPub.jpg

Therefore, the Tilesets aren't as blisteringly versatile as they might be since they consist largely of maybe a corridor terrain if you're lucky plus a huge pile of Tile Groups which, after millions of hours of patient hitting with small, subtle bricks, actually line up with each other. Usually they require a bit of additional PHoD mesh stuck in to make all the joins as seamless as possible.

It's time-consuming but, on the other hand, the Tilesets do look awfully nice! And they'll look better when they're finished and you can walk around them without abruptly hurtling fifty feet in the air when you find a bit of dodgy walkmesh that's evaded eradication thus far.

FishStore.jpg

Anyway, that's quite enough of Manaan... There are other more interesting PHoD KotOR Tilesets being pelted with bricks, some of which are of far more use for sword and sorcery settings rather than all this shiny futuristic rubbish. Manaan just happens to be the one I got furthest with six months ago whilst I was conducting unethical medical experiments upon innocent, unsuspecting bits of trimesh.

Sane? What's that?

Having not seen anything of NWN or gmax for six months, I'm now foaming rabidly all over them in a rather sad and pathetic way and wildly hitting with bricks of assorted sizes any piece of editable mesh that comes within reach. (Usually this squashes the mesh into a useless paste, but dribbling enthusiasm of levels hitherto unrecorded by science cares not for the comprehensive collection of futile crushed pastes left in its wake...

Just been trying to get bits of the interior of Darth Nihilus' star destroyer from KotOR 2 to actually line up with each other in the Tileset which they seem reluctant to do until crushed to pastes with massive bricks.

Here is a pasted corridor, firstly in its own textures (with some Daleks that have strayed from the Doctor Who Modules, along with Davros - who's likely to get a hoof in the face if he starts one of his demented rants).

NihTx.jpg

Secondly, the same corridor thirty seconds later, having been smashed in the face with a PHoD rubbish texturing brick. These aren't the best textures for this corridor, as it happens, but the idea was just to see how well bits of spacecraft interiors can make some interesting architecture for Fantasy settings by being having stones drawn all over them.

VisCham.jpg

Aboard the same ship... I mean, in the same Temple Complex thing that I'm pretending it is now, Visas Marr's meditation chamber seems to be pretty much ready to serve as a sort of weirdo crypt, sanctum, chapel sort of thing even without changing the textures.

Other examples of things will appear in the Alien and Doctor Who threads, so, assuming I can even vaguely recall how to do anything with the internet, here are links to them for those who can be bothered observing all the latest Hyena-shaped lunacy.

Shocking to relate, PHoD actually starts to put things on the Vault again... slowly...

Having been poked with a stick and reminded that I agreed to make available my ALL NEW Giant Rats so many months ago that I'd forgotten all about it, I have now hastily uploaded PHoD Ultimate Rodents to the Vault for all your Humongous Rat needs.

URCoypu.jpg

Not that they're ALL NEW any more 'cause I did them ages ago.

The Hak contains two different sizes of the new PHoD Giant Rat, a hideously spiny Giant Mutant Rat, the Giant Cyborg Rat (which rodentophiles amongst you may recall seeing on the Doctor Who thread), the bipedal Ratkin in four versions and also some Rats in Jars Placeables for mad sorcerer's laboratories by which means you can explain why your Module is now crawling with thirty foot Killer Rats.

URGreelRat.jpg

Warning:- These things are BIG. Do not expect to vanquish them with a mousetrap and a bit of cheese. (Heavy artillery fire would be more advisable).

Anything for my mad scientist (Well, mad mage)'s lab is always welcome

Gotta say though, in respect of the Ratkin, did you ponder the idea of chucking weapon and shield nodes onto them rather than inbuilt weaponry? Could be interesting.

Gave them nodes to start with. They immediately held all known weapons the wrong way round, stabbed themselves through the head constantly and tried to eat their shields. Through their ears.

Tried moving and altering nodes but no matter what I did, the mangy, flea-ridden little Spleens still kept trying to commit seppuku like a heap of tripe. The Wererat animations weren't designed for weapon wielding and the two don't sit easily together. I imagine, if you persevered long enough you could maybe find a workable position for smaller things like daggers, but I gave up and just nailed the weapons I wanted onto them with a huge brick.

Which would probably scare the crap out of any PCs that met them.  Just sayin'.

Still hitting KotOR environments with immense, specially crafted bricks of assorted lumpy shapes...

Base.jpg

Definitely making progress with some of the Tilesets now. Still lots of glitches that need trampling on but it'll still probably prove easier than trying to eat a shield through my ear. (I've just noticed the Rats in the above image. Please ignore the perceived rodential turn this thread has taken and don't go reading anything into it).

(First person to refer to me as Plush Capybara of Doom gets hit with a brick).

Hangar.jpg

(I've also converted a number of robots from KotOR as Creature models; just seeing the daft, spherical G0T0 thing above reminded me. I think you can see some of the other ones in the Manaan images earlier... If anyone wants those, I'll post them somewhere).

Though progress is good on most of the sets, since the interior of the wretched StarForge, below, can't remain on a single flat level for more than ten seconds, all its ramps and catwalks and things are providing a hideous walkmesh nightmare however. It is the exact shape of a Spleen. Just discovered last night that I needed to raise the whole Tileset's base ground level up to 5.0 instead of 0.0 due to all the deep pits the StarForge also seems purposelessly fond of...

StarForge.jpg

Starting to examine the possibilities of KotOR's exteriors now as well, but I'm not sure how viable they'll be for Tilesets, even following my current ethos of "do 90% of it as Tile Groups"... Further news as events warrant...

(See current post on "Doctor Who" thread, link above, for KotOR Tilesets underwater and Firaxan Sharks...)

As I suspected, KotOR's exteriors do not, for the most part, lend themselves to being turned into NWN Tilesets, so I think I'll just pull anything off them that'll make a nice Placeable and leave it at that.

That said, I'm currently trying to nail together a totally new City Tileset for Demoness Tales using bits of Onderon (KotOR 2) as a basis. The architecture's close to what I want though there's lots of work to be done to eliminate assorted "sci-fi" elements and make it more "fantasy" oriented... Here's what will be the Great Library...

Ond1.jpg

And below is what I've labelled the Courthouse, though what these buildings originally were, if anything specific, I have no idea... (I'm not sure yet if I'll keep those lamppost things but make them look less metal and hang some nice lanterns off them, or whether I'll just remove them all with a huge nuclear brick). A lot of the Tileset is still using the original Onderon textures which are going to be changed. A lot.

Ond2.jpg

I've added lots of trees, 'cause in Demoness Tales it's supposed to represent the city of Aelan'tor, which sits on a huge plateau in the middle of a jungle. The next thing I need to do is add water terrain with a Raise/Lower thingy for all the decorative waterfalls Aelan'tor has in my drawings...

Ond3.jpg

Since the ground's mostly flat, walkmeshing is simple enough. The most time consuming thing about this city is that ninety percent of Onderon's buildings were only rendered where they'd be visible in game. Which means mostly they have whole sides missing. Which means cloning the existing sides with a big brick, mirroring them and nailing them back on the other sides. Or where the other sides would have been if they'd been there. Which they weren't. Obviously - or I wouldn't have been nailing things to where they weren't in order to hide the fact that they weren't there. The first ones, that is. That weren't. But now are, only the ones that are are the second ones, not the first ones which weren't there and so weren't ones at all... If you see what I mean.

I'll just shut up now.

Latest gratuitous new Tileset picture...

DockCorr.jpg

By the time I actually get all the vast piles of KotOR geometry entirely finished and working in NWN, I'm going to have forgotten most of the things I actually wanted it all for.

Naturally, this will cause me to become seethingly debased (more so than normal), foam at the mouth, fall off the tops of assorted pieces of furniture with improbable velocity, make an unprovoked attack upon the nearest bottle of merlot and, finally, become irrationally convinced that I have turned luminous green in hue for absolutely no reason at all...

Aaaaargh! No, keep back from me with the big net, Fifi!

I seem to recall, (in the late Triassic when I was young and foolish - unlike now when I'm older and wiser still foolish) encountering a drink called MD 20/20, which had the exact, precise, identical colour and consistency of (not so) Mild Green Fairy Liquid. I think it tasted the same too. Apparently it also comes in a startling range of other unrealistic colours.

I've only ever been flattened more effectively than by this treacherous brew on three occasions; once by a Spotted Hyena who liked to play rough, a White Rhinoceros who didn't like me at all, having mistaken me for a Spleen and (on a fairly regular basis) by Fifi, but she claims it's good for me. I remain sceptical, but sensible enough not to argue with her... Possibly the two or three bottles of Vermouth I'd already gone through may have been a factor in the 20/20 incident.

And here's the Official PHoD Toxic Green Bar where you can go to get hideously destroyed by noxious alcoholic abominations spawned from the darkest pits of Avernys.

ToxPub.jpg

I still fail to entirely comprehend this reekingly toxic pub from KotOR 2, the JekJekTar or whatever it was called. It's supposedly got some dire cyanogenic compounds in the air within as certain "alien" species breathe it and prefer it to "normal" air... It just seems slightly curious to me that if you look round the interior in KotOR 2 there seem to be representatives of almost every rubbery alien race in the game in there. So, are we to assume that every creature in the KotOR universe likes breathing gaseous cyanide EXCEPT humans? Slightly odd. You'd think it'd be harmful to some of them... They've probably all been at that appalling 20/20 stuff and failed to notice the less hazardous cyanide.

(PS:- Not only does Kara not commonly frequent nasty toxic bars, but she is also green naturally for camouflage in her forest and has not been at the 20/20... Nor has her dog.)

Ooh, look! Big Dogs!

BigDogs.jpg

Having been poked with sharp sticks, I've been making a hasty pile of assorted Placeables I've done for Demoness Tales over the last couple of years. Rather than heap hundreds of exceedingly weird things all over the place, I've tried to just select what may feasibly be of use to more or less sensible Community members and not just to rabid Hyenas. It'll all be stuff suitable for Fantasy adventures (especially ones with Big Dog statues in) - I'll put sci-fi related things up separately some time.

The PHoD Novelty Blob Assortment should be on the Vault in the next couple of days. Watch here for a link...

In my humble capacity as an honest person, I must forthwith admit that the Big Dogs (and yes, there's also a Small Dog version) are models I converted from Raven Software's "Jedi Academy" game and made a few tweaks. And inflated them to enormous size with the handy airpump provided. They were originally sort of Guardian statues outside the Sith tombs on Korriban and I always liked the look of them. A lot. So I thieved them and made NWN versions.

I'm currently compiling a Hak and trying to make sure there aren't any missing textures and things since these assorted Placeables span about six years and seven different VAST Demoness Tales Haks and the lumpy library of stock textures I've amassed. Just want to be sure I don't miss any vital PWKs or anything. Should be ready in a day or two.

PS:- Tarot... Had cat statue but dog statue jumped on it and squashed it...

It's not my fault. I've been ASKED on more than one occasion, by more than one person, to make these mutilated carcases available. You know who you are, so don't blame me for nasty, putrefacted blobs. Yes, I know it should be "putrefied" not "putrefacted", but I just like saying putrefacted 'cause it's more amusing, see. PUTREFACTED! There, I said it again.

Disgusting, rotten (or putrefacted as we scientists say) bodies come lying on the floor or hanging on strings or just heads on pointed sticks. Guaranteed to reek. Breaks the ice at parties.

Nice, PHoD. Or should I say "nasty". Which makes it nice for making disturbing areas and encounters. Which could be nasty for players.
