Leaving aside that picture of the icy mountains at the bottom of the last page, which was an old screenshot I hadn't used before and just seemed relevant to mention of Himalayas...

I now attempt to recall what the hell a computer is, how you use the Aurora Toolset and exactly where the "on" switch is for Gmax... After months lurking in remote forests, these things become somewhat hazy. But, with blistering skill (insert derisive laughter here), I sort of remember what to do and thus pick up the first large brick available and hit stuff with it. Naturally, half my mind's still in India...

MaldIntA.jpg

The Maldrapur Temple/Palace Interior Tileset... Probably not the simplest thing I could have tested my memory of how to use a big brick on, but I've become no more sane since I was last here. Mostly all I did today was recall how to use Gmax, etc, and clear out some rubbish walkmeshes and spurious, mysteriously duplicated tiles that served absolutely no useful purpose whatsoever.

MaldIntB.jpg

There's still PILES of stuff to be done with this so-called Tileset, but at least it does now have its basic terrain sorted out and I've made the walls behave themselves at the corners. There are two different Pillar/Arch crossers and the basic doors are set up. Still need to rework my rubbishly overstated "grand entrances" though so that their polycounts are a tad more realistic.

MaldIntC.jpg

Ooh, look! By the statue! A cane basket! No. I'm not cured of that little foible just yet.

Basic though it is at the moment, it's fully functional... well, fully functional as a NWN Tileset, I mean, it won't cook your dinner or launch a Space Shuttle or do eerily bad impersonations of Emperor Penguins, but... Never mind. Point is, I can still recall what I'm doing and am in the process of trying to remember exactly what I was trying to do with NWN four and half months ago...

Abnormal Service has been resumed... sort of.

PHoD!  You're back!  You didn't get eating by any giant snake women...er...monster...things...  Not that I'm insinuating that you may not find that an interesting experience, but...er...  Ehm...  Did I mention that we're glad your back?

I think the general gist became manifest...

And I'm touched... No, no, that's not quite what I meant. Not in the head. Well, yes, actually, but that's still not what I meant.

After all, there are very, very, very few places throughout the entire Universe where anyone is actually genuinely glad to see me. I say "see" but obviously you can't see me, you can see a computer monitor, but you know what I mean. And I'm glad to be back, really, in an odd sort of way; there's a sort of warm, homely familiarity about this site - or more probably about the fact that everyone who was still left four and half months ago appears to still be here in an undamaged condition..

Not that I'm entirely, strictly, back 'cause I'm likely to be heavily involved with my "other" line of work for the next few months. That is, instead of grappling wild animals, I'll be building monsters and doubtless plastering myself to the floor with epoxy resin and stuff as usual and doing strange things to what's left of my mind with fibregalss fumes...

EDIT:- Bizarrely (or not), I've just discovered that all my pictures from millions of years ago on the now extinct BioWare Albums thingy are still there, read-only fashion - and so you CAN see me! Like you want to... But the Beasts are interesting and so the scattering of images of the PHoD Unnecessarily Vast Collection of Assorted Creatures will explain, to anyone who didn't see the farcical things before, exactly what I mean when I say "building monsters"...

http://social.biowar...ms/1330854/&p=3

The relevant pictures start on page three, a row or two down... Just ignore the partially embarrassing shots of ancient NWN CC that's not much good.

And remember, that's my family you're looking at! Or some of it, anyway... I missed them, you know - four months in the jungle without sight of an Alien... sigh...

Welcome back PHoD!

I was literately just thinking "Huh, PHoD hasn't come back from his India trip/cobra thing yet" earlier today, and here you suddenly are!

Welcome back PHoD! Did you or FiFi --- I mean Natasha --- manage to acquire any parasites? My doctor tells me that I've become quite good at collecting them whenever I take the family there. In fact, I am much better than my wife (she's the Indian) is and my daughter is getting better at it. Whereas my son has such an extensive collection of local flora and fauna, there must not be any room for the Indian variety.

Parasites of that kind tend to congregate around their human hosts... The three of us spent four months in a remote area of a remote forest in a remote part of India without the slightest sight of any human presence. Bliss. So mostly our parasite concerns - aside from the ceaseless battles against the Evil Atomic Monster Death Hell Mosquitoes of Doom - were merely with the profuse and comprehensive selections of Leeches... Came back anaemic, but with three notebooks full of interesting observations upon haemovorous annelids.

Oh, and about those saris we're both so fond of and which I still can't model worth a damn...

My current efforts at expanding Maldrapur's wardrobe have got thus far:-

Talia.jpg

Queen Talia, from KotOR II, standing mortified in Gmax, watching me coming at her with a big brick. With intent.

As you may or may not have noticed, I'm using her head model for Maharani Apsarvati anyway - the lady in purple who turns up with Kali in some of the Maldrapur screenshots (see above) - so simply converting all of her into a skinmesh Creature model over the standard NWN a_fa model would be easy enough. Then she'd just need a retexture to give her the purple of Maldrapur's ruling family and a darker skin tone.

Though it doesn't really look anything much like a sari, I always thought there was something vaguely Indian about Talia's gown thing. The trouble is, what I really want to do is convert it to a robe model so that anyone can wear one. So long as they're a woman, anyway. But to make it a robe means removing Talia's head and because her head veil merges seamlessly with the rest of the gown, it makes for a lot of cutting things in half and then spending millions of years sewing all the sundered verts back together so as to remove glaring holes and not have extraneous bits of veil and collar flapping argulantly about... But it's a start!

(If I do get it working nicely as a robe, the head veil thing will become just the body area (cream coloured bits) folded down round the neck as a sort of decorative shawl thing, which should look nice and also help me hide the hole at the neck). Might also redo the texture with some genuine Indian silk patterns, if I can bear the thought of the intricate channel shading for the PLT that such would require...

Since she gets slightly carried away and identifies more or less everyone and everything as "Spleens", it's best to keep well away from Lucirath when she's testing new weapons... or at any time really...

Not that Luce would generally use anything as inelegant as a lumpy Giant Mutant Mace, you understand; anyway, point is, I need huge crushing weapons for a few pathologically unsightly NPC Spleens to wave about (like it's going to stop Luce pushing their hideous, slimy faces in) and so I've been hitting with bricks some enormous maces and clubs... Currently they're just stuffed into the GreatAxe model as extra slots, given that the GreatAxe animations are fine for MegaMaces or UltraClubs - or whatever stupid thing you want to call them.

Obviously the GreatAxe weapon emitters look wrong on a club with no axe blades, but since the Spleens I want these weapons for don't have arcane weapons, that doesn't bother me.

But I've still been vaguely pondering whether there's any point whatsoever in actually making a completely new weapon type for these humongous things?

Has anyone already created a Farcically Vast Club weapon class without me noticing? Is there any real need for one, since, as mentioned, they work fine as GreatAxe additions other than that the acid, fire, etc glows look a bit completely different other shaped?

Does anyone but me even WANT immense maces and clubs?

Right... I've got about ten of these stupidly enormous mace-oids, ranging from very ornate, spiky things to just noxiously crude and lumpy Massive Stone Cudgels TM, suitable for Profoundly Ugly and Moronic Giants, Diseased Yetis - it really maybe could have been a Yeti, you know - and I probably won't be adding any more for my own benefit. But approximately ten is probably sufficient to merit me throwing them on the Vault in a tatty hessian sack. (Bit low on the old "Big Boxes" at present).

I shall be leaving them as additions to the Greataxe class since this allows you to use feats with them, even if the feats say "Weapon Focus - Greataxe" instead of "Weapon Focus - Gigantic Lumpy Mace Article of Pathologically Ludicrous Dimensions". It also saves messing about with BaseItems 2da etc. The ONLY reason, really, to add a new class for these would be to create new FX emitters that were more club shaped than axe shaped but since these maces vary in shape rather a lot from each other, it still wouldn't work very well anyway.

Besides, these are the sort of weapons only Colossal Gargantuas who love crushing everybody to a paste use and when you can crush somebody to a mangled paste with a single blow, you're not likely to be bothered farting about with a load of airy-fairy, namby-pamby, niminy-piminy arcane rubbish. These are the sort of weapons minor villains in John Carpenter films are equipped with.

So, busy as Natasha and I are at present, spending most of our time being stuck to a nascent ten foot sabretooth nightmare by epoxy resin that refuses to set properly, I won't promise anything, but the lumpy whatnots should be on the Vault in the next few days.

It's ever more difficult to try doing anything on the internet when you don't actually have your own internet connection.

DTmace4.jpg

(Grymlorde:- You read my mind... There will be assorted "Hindu" weapons including proper Trishulas and stuff in the third massive update to the Kali Vault page - whenever I get a chance to actually work on any of my larger NWN projects again... Those Dinosaurs, for instance...)

Added enlarged versions of the Athas Maces that Shem did for the Dark Sun CC (gracias, amigo)...

Now just stuffing stupidly immense Greatmace things in a very grotty, moth-eaten sack with lots of holes in it. These huge maces are, by the way, extremely useful for squashing evil Sack-Eating Moths (Mothus rubbishopterus). Obviously, using such a weapon to squash a nasty little moth as it nibbles holes in your favourite fabric may result in minor blemishes to the furniture for which PHoD accepts absolutely no liability whatsoever.

DTmace5.jpg

The maces, carefully inflated to farcical proportions with the handy airpump provided, are all randomly stuck in my Greataxe list in between other things, so I'm renaming everything a bit for the Vault Hak to make it a bit more logical and easier for you to find the damn things.

Sorry - thoroughly entangled and rushed off my feet at the moment... Yes, simultaneously; is there no limit to my fund of utterly worthless skills of no use whatsoever to animal, vegetable or mineral?

Anyway - hopefully should have time to throw the MegaMaces at the Vault later today. And even if I miss, they ought to land close by in the bushes somewhere... Just obtain a good sniffer dog...

Because sometimes you need MORE than just a Big Brick...

http://neverwinterva.../phod-megamaces

These ten Porcupines on Sticks NOW available for you to crush things to unrecognizable pastes with!

(No further in-game pictures 'cause when I asked Luce to hold the enormous stone club she inferred that only Diseased Yetis would wield such a thing and then made reference to raw Hellfire and then... I ran away.)

I keep getting poked with sticks with regards placing a vast pile of unconscionably strange PHoD Weirdo Skyboxes on the Vault. And I said I would. Probably about twenty times over the last year or two...

But don't worry - I'm dealing with it. Finally.

No, really, honestly, properly this time.

PWSskullstarred.jpg

Here you see that even when doing strange nebulae, the Shabby Hyena Loony feels compelled to become even more strange and add seethingly unlikely but nevertheless patently sinister things... A lot of Demoness Tales takes place in Ancient Outer Eldritch Void Warp Anomaly Weirdo Places and my Skyboxes tend to reflect this. Hence calling the proposed Hak "PHoD Weirdo Skyboxes".

PWSgigera1.jpg

There are several Giger Skyboxes which are mostly linked to a completely new Giger Tileset I'm building in slow motion at an imperceptible rate.

Currently, I'm at the stage of going through all my Skyboxes and selecting those which A:- might actually be of use to someone other than me and B:- aren't crap.

PWSnebulapearl.jpg

Once I've got them sorted out and have arranged a 2da in some believably coherent fashion, I'll have to get a screen capture for ALL the Skyboxes - around fifty at the moment but that may change - so that I can plaster them on the Vault so's you actually have any idea what the things actually look like... But the PHoD Weirdo Skyboxes ARE on the way.

Problems, problems, problems...

PWScloudmoon.jpg

I thought I had made about fifty Skyboxes for NWN, this figure based loosely upon a wild guess. Now that I'm actually rummaging in the Big Box I discover that I have subliminally failed to register the numbers in the 2da and have, in fact, made no less than one hundred and thirty-six Skyboxes... which is an unfeasibly vast pile of them to go heaving about at the Vault. And some of the early ones I did millions of years ago - when I clearly had no idea what I was doing - are completely rubbish. I want to go for quality rather than quantity.

Even so, weeding out the useless ones and stamping upon them until they're dead, there are still more than I thought. A lot more. So I'm deleting the rubbish from my own Skybox Hak, unable to avoid improving a few of the better old ones as I go, and then trying to narrow down a selection for the Vault that might actually be of use to anyone but me. And doing a screen capture for each one so that you know what they look like.

And I now completely hate these screenshots. That's a 20x20 Tile Area in these images, but because it's an empty black blob - to better show off the Skyboxes, I thought - there's no sense of scale, so the Skyboxes look like a poster on a wall three feet away. This irritates me, but, besieged by huge, lumpy, half-built Spleen Creatures as I am presently, I haven't the time to scrap everything and start fabricating a suitable area to show off each Skybox in a logical and interesting setting...

PWSespace.jpg

Suddenly, horrifyingly, PHoD's Dog appears here for ABSOLUTELY NO REASON AT ALL!

PHoD-Jenny1.jpg

Feel free to go "aaaaah" but watch your fingers - she's not as cute as she looks... and is here simply in flagrant disregard of BioWare's policy regarding utterly spurious and irrelevant posts. But what does it matter now?

Shabby Hyena Item morosely considers the death of these forums, reminded of his pet hate of "impermanence". Everything one loves and cherishes is inevitably going to go to dust, sooner or later. Can't be avoided. But it still sucks. Not that these forums vanishing mean all my NWN stuff is going to vanish, but it's still sad, still another reminder that everything we do and put effort into simply sinks back into the elemental ooze the moment we turn our backs on it for two seconds. I hate change, for all its relentless inevitability...

Don't know whether I feel like just packing it all in right now or madly trying to plaster another fifty pages of this thread into existence in the next few weeks. Which, to make them proper pages about actual stuff I'm making, will be a lot of work... Anyway, for now, Skyboxes...

Yes, Skyboxes, and not Dogs at all...

I've been poked with a stick with regards including the Skyboxes I did for a few of the CCCs.

PWSathas1.jpg

Though I now view them as being of secondary quality, at best, I suppose it makes some sense since some of them, such as the old Athas Skybox, above, have been added to with things like the other Athas Skybox, below, which didn't make it to the Dark Sun CCC.

Anyway, stuff's being crammed into a Big Box and there should soon be a gelatinously vast pile of Skyboxes on the Vault of a generally strange cast... strange Skyboxes, that is, not the Vault...
