Skyboxes for every occasion... just so long as they're weird occasions...

Though actually, hideous to relate, there are a few "normal" Skyboxes I might throw in too. I imagine there must be plenty of good "normal" Skyboxes scattered about the NWN CC landscape by now though, so I'll mostly concentrate on the weird stuff... and also because of all my Skyboxes, only four of them qualify as "normal" anyway.

Normalcy is relative, however... Some of these Skyboxes may look weird but are, in actual fact, completely normal and everyday... if you happen to come from Hell...

You shall be able to soon...

But what about these?

PWSweb.jpg

Further to the Skyboxes in the first post of this page and all those at the bottom of the previous page, I have NOT included in the Big Box for the Vault a few Skyboxes which are very good, in my humble opinion, but are also so closely tied up to the weird and wonderful worlds of Demoness Tales that I really can't imagine them being of use to anyone else...

But now I'm in a sort of "is there any point including these?" situation regarding another pile of Skyboxes such as those in this post... Are they also TOO weird? Is anyone going to be able to find a use for these and other such freakisms?

PWShivecage.jpg

All the nebulae and the blatantly evil storm clouds and things could conceivably be of use, but I'm not sure about some of my Skyboxes for entire realms ensnared in immeasurably vast webs or bizarre arcane chaining glyphs or the Tharidian Hive Cage, above, which is probably useless without the associated Hive Cage Placeables... I don't want to make a Hak that everyone has to drag about at extracting the four things they want from amidst a hundred others they don't. I want it to be reasonably useful. With just a bit of futility at the edges.

@PHOD, the thing is just because someone doesn't have an immediate use for something doesn't that they won't have sometime in the future. In fact custom content can inspire the story teller to create a need for such things. I'll give you an example (that will probably never be followed up on... but you never know). In the September 2013 Arcane Space ccc Shemsu created three versions of an autognome.

autognomes01.jpg

Now the flame-throwing one had an oil funnel on its head as a sort of hat. To me this was very reminiscent of the tin man from the 1939 Judy Garland film "The wizard of Oz". This set me to thinking. (I'll leave the back story out). So imagine this. The PC comes across a crater and besides the crater there is a roadway with that is peppered with yellow bricks. Further down this road there is a second crater and the road contains more yellow bricks. This continues a further 2 times whereupon the road is completely made of yellow bricks and leads to a cave entrance. Entering the cave the PC is confronted with a scene of devastation with the smoking remains of humanoid monsters and an unlikely looking group. There is a succubus accompanied by a hell hound. With here are three Autognomes, one of each type. The succubus turns to the PC and says "Hello, my name is D'Rothy, this is my dog Oh-Oh and these my friends the tin-gnome, the scary gnome and the cowardly iron. Are you the Wizard?" And the fractured tale continues from there.

All that inspired by but one model. So I say go for it as you never know what you will inspire.

BTW they look good and no sign of a seam.

Mostly sorted out what I'm putting in the Big Box now.

There are still a few things I'm undecided over which are mostly things I feel to be too similar to make it worthwhile including both versions. But, assuming I don't suddenly foam at the mouth, jump up and down on everything and start again - which is by no means unknown - there will be SIXTY Skyboxes in the Vault Hak.

PWSnebulahyena1.jpg

These will include absolutely NO Skyboxes depicting Flying Woolly Mammoths caught in assorted rubbish static poses. Honestly. No, really, there's NO Demented Flying Woolly Mammoth Skybox. At all... No, really there isn't.

But there are an unnecessarily vast horde of assorted nebulae, some cloudy stuff, some arcane weirdness and... some other things - none of which are Woolly Mammoths.

PWSnebulaelprup.jpg

Assuming no foaming at the mouth, etc, PHoD Weirdo Skyboxes should be on the Vault in the next day or two.

Flying woolly mammoths are a traditional D&D legacy. I'm pretty sure there's one of them in the CEP somewhere...

Note to self - Do not attempt any more of my utterly rubbish skyboxes until I have seen PHOD's utterly brilliant ones except maybe...

Anyone know where I can get a picture of Dumbo and a furry PS style?

Got entangled with a cursed Lycaenops all day - a bit behind now...

I'm just dashing past in a hurry at this point, but hopefully should have the necessary million years or so to come over here some time tomorrow and painstakingly nail all the plasticinely massive heaps of precariously piled Skyboxes to the Vault.
