I'm very noobish with my BEs / FEs / TEs / CEs, hence the silly questions. Hopefully, the Justicar is as good a character as any to learn it with.

Consider working through some usefull threads in the Resource Library:

This is the build I like best for the Justicar, after extended experimentation. I switch between the Acolyte (more of a caster play) and the Harrier/Mattock/Hornet/Hurricane (more of a biotic soldier play). Gold and Plat are all about the right balance between survivability and damage output and I find this build to offer me the best of both.

Reducing shield recharge delay is a very good thing, just not as good as you seem to think it is. Depending on map and enemy it can be as good as Cyclonics IV or Adrenaline III. I am not sure if reducing shield-gate recharge delay is even possible.

Thanks for the awesome links! I open the Resource Library from time to time, and every time get caught by some new guide I've never noticed before :)

the opinion that 6a Reave is better on her, as is a bigger Bubble

underrated post.

Also, 6/6/6/5/3 is how I build her. Offensive Biotic Sphere, Pull as it is one of the more underrated primers in the game, and of course, Reave everything in sight.

*properly rated.

Offensive bubble is great and I'd agree a more effective choice for most builds.  Defensive bubble is the choice if you're going "all in" with the barrier / DR build that the OP was asking about.

As far as effective builds, I love her with the PPR.  Reave, warp ammo, some punk tattoos and the ironic nickname "BuzzKill" make her unstoppable.

I have tried every possible build / weapon combo I can think of with her...2 Me...The Defensive/ Stay in your bubble build usually winds up being really boring.  No matter where you put the bubble....enemies are still going to walk into it..So, might as well turn it into a Warp Dungeon. Also, for laughs, Since my build is now always Offense Bubble Build, Occasionally I will put up the bubble in a random place and un-knowing PUGS think it will protect them...It won't.....Never does....Also, I know BSN hates to spec into Pull..,,But, I find it ALWAYS very useful ...I put 4 ranks into it..rank 4 radius, get a double mook explosion.

I run around too much to take any benefit from defensive bubble perks. Dash, speed and LoF are my main defense assets. A full offensive bubble still has some defensive benefit and I usually drop them over ppl doing devices and while we move the combat drone.

I go 6/6/5/5/4 with her.  Reave does the trick for DR where I don't feel like I need the extra fitness.

She's actually very forgiving of mistakes. You might just not notice if you're accustomed to playing things like AIU/TGI whom have "don't die" buttons.

Since this is a BSN thread about someones build, I'll throw mine in the ring.

I think the biggest mistake in your build is the weapon mod/ammo setup. She has one of the best/easiest biotic primers to use, which means warp ammo works really, really well with her. And since you gotta get your cover penetration from somewhere, I'd swap the barrel for the piercing mod.

Using lots of shield recharge is better on other kits that have multiple sources of recharge delay, especially the geth trooper with his natural delay bonus and fortification.

I only have like 3 of that ammo.  And I don't usually shoot through cover. The figure I'm looking at is damage to armor per shot, and I'm satisfied with the value that even AP I gives. But I see your point with Warp ammo. If only I could get less garbage like Drill or Explosive Rounds and more good stuff like Warp / Disruptor / Cryo / AP...

Edit: turns out I have 13 Warp Rounds III, might as well use them.

Could please explain what shield gate is? I thought it's the fact that a single instance of damage, no matter how high the damage is, can't go through shields.

Why won't you simply promote the character? 1-2 Silver + 2-3 Gold games - and you're back to lvl 20.

I just did yesterday for Engineer & Infiltrator yesterday. And all I did yesterday for all my games was level them up. It's reasonable to do when you have too many characters in a class you want to reset (or change them all 6 kits), but when you just want to just quickly try a different build on one kit to see how it is or you just in quickly in the mood for it, then maybe change it back on a whim whenever you feel like it... well, it would help toward encouraging different builds, which in turn encourages more replay value.

And I do always have some money on the side for respec cards (Veteran & Spectre packs seem best for them), if I start resetting every kit whenever I feel like it, I won't have any more money for respec cards left. So I always have to hold back.

On the Justicar it would be nice to be able to switch back and forth between the two styles on a whim. Maybe that way I'd get way more play out of her too? That and no build is ever set in stone... well, maybe the DrellGuard before Deerber says it.

You can still run around as the Defense Bubble can be still used as a Detonator.

Drill Ammo 3 is a perfect substitute for Armour Ammo 3 on kits with Geth Scanner and a debuff as Warp, Cryo, Snap, etc. As the less Armour dmg reduction gets fixed with debuff powers + the extra penetration is great for extra boss hits & shooting through mooks to kill other mooks.

Explosive Ammo is for pugs like me who don't know what cover is and I need the enemies in front of me to be staggered to prevent them from still shooting me. :(

I know - but why would I spec defensively if I barely stay in the bubble?

One time on Giant with my Justicar, I pulled a Brute over to the top of the computer lab, he reverted back to basic krogan and I heard "quit your whining" til the wave was done, So now I always put 6pts in pull...its awesome! :P

also I like to take the extra weight options  (4a/6b) so my asari can do the  mini-gun action with the Spitfire B)  she rocks with it ...the spitfire just spews out warp bullets like nobody's business

try it :wizard:

This made me think of a melee Justicar. Reave>Bubble>Heavy Melee.

On my Justicar, I have tried the damage bubble and protection bubble.... protection bubble and protection reave are powers that suddenly make you one of the most viable tanks in the game..... to the point where a juggernaut would die from say a ravager before you do...

There is something terrifying about an 80% DR

I faintly remember a thread about Asari melee.

I did spec into the full shield recharge for a few matches. It was fine, threw a bubble at my feet, reaved all the things for that DR and used the harrier with warp ammo and mowed everything down. Twas effective, and freaking boring. Drell adept can do the same thing except of being confined to a bubble he can simply move side to side with the juicy adrenaline mod boost. She's much more fun with running a power build. This is what I use now. 4/4 split in passives and fitness is more than enough. Acolyte->Lift->Reave small enemies for big booms. Reave->Bubble->Reave->CSMG armored targets, especially in a hallway.

Personal preference, you don't need it. You could use adrenaline or shield power cells if you have more of them. The DR from reave goes a long way. Never underestimate the power of Geth Scanner.

Yes, the build in the OP will work just fine, at least on Gold.  Lancer is probably the best gun for that build.  I also like the Indra, and the PPR would probably work quite well if you had a long duration on Reave.  Also, because you're going to be stationary, the Revenant works surprisingly well with that build if you plant yourself in hard cover.  With all the DR you get from your various sources, you can empty the entire clip without dying, then slip back into hard cover to reload, and your shields will be recharged by the time you want to start shooting again.  One of the only setups I like for the Revenant.

I used to play the Justicar as a pure Pull-Reave setup on Gold, with the Acolyte and BPP as a sidearm for armored enemies, and it works really well that way.  But lately, I have been trying the Reave-spamming DOT build, with various pistols with Power Amp and Heavy Barrel.  It works shockingly well against pretty much everything except Geth, and it even does well against Geth if you bring Phasic ammo instead of Warp ammo.

Venom on the Justicar is probably the most effective weapon for her. It allows you to use the offensive bubble a little more recklessly and hits very hard with Warp ammo and Reave. Not really a fan of defensive bubble honestly just doesn't work as well as actually killing everything fast IMO.

What's so special about Venom (I don't have it yet)?
