So, after playing DA:I 3 times, I went back to DA:O for some nostalgia. And honestly, I don't know why I haven't read about this elsewhere, but DA:O is still a fantastic game (despite having to get re-used to the combat after DA:I), and so much easier to mod than DA:I. PLUS, it has the benefit of the Hero of Ferelden being the main character.

So I'm starting a new DA:O mod, based on a bunch of stuff you learn in DA2 and DA:I. And obviously, it's going to be based on the HoF going off in search of a cure for the calling.

I'm pretty well-versed in all the lore, but what I'd like to see is what you guys would like to see in something like that. Honestly, if I'd heard about that mod coming out, I would have started a new DA:O game just for that, just for kicks. It's iffy on whether BioWare will release something about this, so why not a mod?

So... here's what I've got so far. If you want to see something, please let me know!

- Meeting with Avernus (if he's alive - if not, a quest to find someone to continue his research)

- Search for the Architect

- Leliana leaving.

- Morrigan and HoF part ways after Witch Hunt

- Lots of new stuff, obviously. The whole mod will be more like the beginning of DAO, where you're pretty much on your own. I'm thinking of finding one new companion (hopefully, if I can convince a friend of mine to help out) who will be voiced and lip-synced, have her own opinions on everything, and be a central part of the story.

What else, guys? Please let me know!

Oh, and PS - she will actually be a well-developed character, along the lines of Inigo or Vilja from Skyrim (but obviously without all those awesome features those two have, since this is DAO we're talking about and not Skyrim). Or along the lines of the vanilla companions from DAO. Heh.

Here are some useful links:

toolset wiki: http://social.biowar...x.php/Main_Page

This is the main place to find out how to use the toolset to create a mod.

forum associated with modding (technical): http://forum.bioware...on-age-toolset/

These forums are a good place to ask specific, technical questions about getting the something associated with your mod to work.

That's quite an ambitious project, I hope you can complete it.

Well, since you're taking suggestions, any chance of father-son interaction with Kieran?

Thanks. Already knew that stuff, but thanks for the thought. :)

That would be interesting. I mean, obviously, he leaves with Morrigan if he exists. What else would you like to see?

Well, that depends entirely on the story you plan to write and what resources you have.

Mostly, I think you need a scenario for people who killed the Architect (even if he is alive regardless, the Warden would have no reason to believe he is) and a way to import the equipment including popular mods such as "Grey Wardens of Ferelden".

The only problem I run into with equipment is activity of mod authors. DA:O modding is pretty old hat. Obviously, as this thread isn't very popular. A lot of those authors aren't even active anymore to get their permission to use their work. :/

Story-wise, I'm not worried about it. I've already got a plan for a dead Architect.

Have you tried?  The Nexus sends me an email any time someone leaves a PM for me here.

Not yet, no. Still getting everything together for this mod. Honestly, I'm not sure if it's worth it. Not many people seem to care and it'll be a LOT of work.

If it's listed as a modders' resource or otherwise states that people are free to use it in the description, readme, or file permissions on the site, you don't have to, but otherwise, do it.  Some people do care, and it's the right thing to do.  Sending a PM isn't what I'd call a lot of work.

Well, personally. I would really like to play it.

Plus, it's also a fact most people simply don't visit these part of the forums. You could try posting either in the DAO or DAI sections or maybe you could go to character threads and ask the fans what they would like to see in the mod.

Hah! I meant the actual mod. Yes, I know how permission works. And how to read... I didn't mean sending messages was a lot of work...

How do people keep misunderstanding me so thoroughly? Am I being vague?

That is a very good point. Maybe I'll go to the DAI scuttlebutt. See what kind of a reaction it gets.

I don't know about other times, since I've only misunderstood you this once as far as I know.  What you said happened to sound like something I've heard other people give as reasons why they didn't seek permission, and I also assumed that when you said "it", you were referring to what we two were talking about directly, not the overall subject.
